HON. MARIE G. JOHNSON
SEASON MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF KONOBO DISTRICT #2 AND GRAND GEDEH AT LARGE.
My fellow citizens of D #2 and the people of Grand Gedeh County, I believe we have traveled a journey filled with numerous challenges this year, 2024. Challenges of disappointments, hate, division, etc. In the mix of all these challenges, we were equally successful in most of our quests individually, and as a people, this is because we were thoughtful in engaging God in our endeavors.
As we pray for God to usher us into 2025 successfully, let's continue to prepare as a people to identify our priorities together and redefine our value system. It is certain that we sometimes mix needs and wants. Need and Want are two words that we frequently use interchangeably. Although these two words are often used as synonyms, there is an important difference between needs and wants, especially in the field of economics and finance.
A need is an essential requirement or a necessity, whereas a want is a desire. The fulfillment of needs is essential for one’s survival, whereas fulfillment of wants is not essential for one’s survival. We must concentrate on the need to develop our communities, family values, and culture/tradition that define us as one people. In the past, Konobo District was known for being honest, bold, committed, productive, and, equally importantly, united. As such, we were always cohesive and family-oriented. These core values have been the seal of our nature.
Accordingly, we must find the courage as a people to reunite once again and work together to build our Communities, District, and Grand Gedeh as a macrocosm. I believe that some of our aging parents and grandparents approved that, indeed, these core values were part of the culture/tradition of our land, Konobo District. Our ancestors worked diligently to ensure that this district remained free of divisive and economic mistreatment. They stood the test of time and made bold decisions that elevated our integrity to the equivalence of other Districts in Grand Gedeh.
To all our Elders, Men, Women, Youth, and Church Leaders, enough time to regain our realization in determining who we are and what we want as a people. I believe that together, we can restore our fundamental morals and make Konobo District and Grand Gedeh County better again.
In a week, days, and hours, we will all be entering into 2025 by the grace of God. While navigating our way, I, too, pray and hope that we all will arrive in 2025 successfully.
I, Hon. Marie G. Johnson, your representative, would like to say to all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, 2025, in advance.
God bless Konobo District, and God bless Grand Gedeh County.
