Luxembourg Ambassador Jean Claude Kugener, in Canada since November 2024, has been actively visiting provinces and engaging with multilateral institutions including NATO, the UN, and the Francophonie. His efforts honor Luxembourg’s historic government-in-exile in Montreal during WWII and aim to strengthen bilateral relations, cultural diplomacy, and research collaborations.

In February 2026, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss international law, NATO collaboration, and joint defence projects. After a 25-year reign, Grand Duke Henri abdicated in October 2025 in favour of his son, Guillaume V. Born in November 1981, Grand Duke Guillaume married Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy in 2012, and is father to Prince Charles (2020) and Prince François (2023). Over the years, he participated in numerous economic missions to Canada with ministers and business delegations, including a large delegation of 100+ Luxembourg companies in June 2022, strengthening bilateral trade and collaboration.
