🇱🇹 The Walloon economic mission has officially started in Lithuania!

Today and tomorrow, 10 companies from Wallonia are meeting partners and stakeholders in Congress Avenue Hotel Vilnius before continuing to Riga 🇱🇻 and Tallinn 🇪🇪 later this week.

Among them is New Lachaussée, a historic industrial company based in Herstal, Belgium. Founded in 1830, the company develops high-precision machinery and turnkey production solutions for both civil and defense industries, with recognized expertise in ammunition, primer and detonator manufacturing equipment.

With 99% of its production exported worldwide, New Lachaussée is exploring opportunities to connect with industrial players, public institutions and organizations involved in defense manufacturing across the Baltic region.

📍 Riga welcomes Njilabo

After exchanges in Vilnius, Prof. Dimitri Van der Linden continues his journey through the Baltic region and is now on his way to Riga 🇱🇻 — despite strong north-western winds pushing against his route.

As part of the Njilabo project, the paediatric infectious diseases specialist from Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc (Brussels) is cycling from Thessaloniki to Stockholm to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — one of the most pressing global health challenges — and to promote a One Health approach linking human, animal, and environmental health.

How can innovation help strengthen cancer care and diagnostics in the Baltic region?

🚴‍♂️ Njilabo reaches the Baltics 🇱🇹🇱🇻🇪🇪

Prof.Dimitri Van der Linden is now on his way to the Baltic region as part of the Njilabo project.

A paediatric infectious diseases specialist at Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc (Brussels), he is cycling from Thessaloniki to Stockholm to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — one of the biggest global health threats of our time — and to promote a One Health approach linking human, animal and environmental health.

Along the route, he has already met researchers and health professionals in Thessaloniki, Bucharest, Suceava, Sofia, Warsaw, Wrocław and Białystok.

On May 9th, Wallonia Baltics were delighted to take part in the Europe Day celebrations at Vērmanes Garden in Riga.

From quizzes and games to conversations about the higher education, the Belgian stand welcomed visitors of all ages. It was especially rewarding to see so much interest in studying in Wallonia. 🎓

Tonight, we invite you to the closing screening of RPFF - Rīgas Pasaules filmu festivāls at Kino Bize with the Belgian/Walloon documentary Monstres de poussière (PUTEKĻU BRIESMOŅI). 🎬🇧🇪

Directed by Marissiaux, the film follows two men trying to rebuild their dignity and sense of belonging after years of homelessness.

We are happy that this year’s festival featured 4 films from Wallonia, including this closing film.

Before the screening, we will say a few words and we look forward hearing an introduction from director, and off course to share some Belgian beer and chocolate on this Sunday evening. 🍫🍺
