The National Energy Authority (NEA) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Inception Meeting for the Solar Training Program, marking the formal launch of this important collaboration between the Australian Government, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Global Sustainable Energy Solutions (GSES) under the Australia-Pacific Partnership for Energy Transition (APPET).

This training program is designed to build the capacity of Marshallese technicians to deliver safe, high‑quality solar installations and strengthen our nation’s renewable energy future. The program will be delivered in phases:

On‑grid training in September 2026.
Off‑grid training in November, conducted in Majuro.

Through these sessions, participants will gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical skills, helping to ensure that solar energy systems throughout the Marshall Islands are installed, operated, and maintained to international standards.

The program also includes a Train-the-Trainer component, which will equip local participants with the skills, resources, and confidence to deliver future training and refresher courses, supporting long-term local capacity development.

While detailed logistical planning is still underway, the successful inception meeting has established a strong foundation for the next phase of implementation. The training program will be co-designed to reflect the specific needs and priorities of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, with direct input from NEA and other local stakeholders.

This initiative forms part of the broader Australia-Pacific Partnership for Energy Transition (APPET) and reflects the shared commitment of Australia and the Republic of the Marshall Islands to advancing renewable energy development. Together, project partners are working to strengthen energy security, reduce reliance on imported fuels, and empower communities through sustainable and resilient energy solutions.

On Monday, the National Energy Authority joined the Majuro Local Rally at the United Church of Christ in Laura to conduct outreach on reducing electricity use and promoting renewable energy such as Solar PV. During the event, hundreds of youth participants attended and listened carefully, gaining knowledge about energy-saving practices. The team also taught the youths basic information on how solar PV systems are installed and how to maintain them properly.

Energy Savings Update – April 2026

In just 13 days since the Energy Savings Policy began, we’ve already saved a total of $86,815 across ministries and state-owned enterprises. This achievement proves that collective effort works — every office, every worker, and every citizen is part of this success.

Top Energy Savers in percentage (April 2026)

Here are the top five reductions in energy use:

1. MoWIU (Works, Infrastructure & Utilities) – 39.50% reduction
2. MISC (Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation – 32.5% reduction
3. AMI (Air Marshall Islands) – 30.1% reduction
4. MoCIA (Culture & Internal Affairs) – 29.61% reduction
5. MOEST (Education, Sports & Training) – 29.57% reduction

We are facing a state of economic emergency with fuel, and every percentage saved is more than just a number — it is resilience, stability, and hope for our islands. These savings show that when we stand together, we can overcome even the toughest challenges.
