The Republic of the Marshall Islands Government Director of National Security participated in two consecutive regional security engagements: the Guam-Micronesia Security Dialogue, which focused on evolving security challenges across Micronesia, followed by the Networking the Neighbors of the Philippines Sea Symposium in Palau.
Both forums provided valuable opportunities for the Republic of the Marshall Islands to ensure that its perspectives, priorities, and national interests are reflected in evolving regional security narratives and policy approaches.

The Republic of the Marshall Islands is delighted to welcome the Australian Defence Vessel Reliant to our humble shores. Marking its third deployment to the RMI, the ADV Reliant made its port call in the capital city of Majuro on Monday, May 5, 2026.
This arrival heralds the commencement of a vital two-and-a-half-week humanitarian mission to the atolls of Ujae, Lae, Wotho, and Enewetak.
Working in close collaboration with the Office of the Chief Secretary and the UNDP’s ACWA Project, the Reliant is scheduled to embark on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. This mission will complement the ongoing ACWA initiative to deliver fresh water to the outer island communities. Furthermore, the Public School System will be joining the team to deliver school supplies and administer the Marshall Islands Standard Achievement Test (MISAT).

Kommol tata to all who joined yesterday’s National Security & Substance/Drug Summit 🇲🇭

This week, the Office of National Security (ONS), in coordination with the Marshall Islands Mayors Association (MIMA), Marshall Islands Police Department (MIPD), and Substance Taskforce brought together national leaders, the Council of Iroij, mayors, youth, and community stakeholders to address the growing impact of illicit drugs on our communities.

We were honored by the participation and remarks of H.E. President Dr. Hilda C. Heine, Chairman Irooj Lanny Kabua, MIMA President Riming Ring and leaders across government and civil society, reinforcing the importance of unity and shared responsibility.

Presentations were delivered by ONS, MIPD, MALGOVPD, Sea Patrol, MIPSA, Ports Authority, MOHHS, and the Attorney General’s Office, covering drug trends, enforcement challenges, public health impacts, and the development of a National Counter-Drug Framework.

The roundtable discussions highlighted community perspectives and local solutions, helping shape the path toward a coordinated national response.

Together, we are building safer and more resilient communities across the Marshall Islands. 🤝

🇲🇭 Happy Constitution Day from ONS! 🇲🇭

This weekend, ONS staff were proud to join the Constitution Day parade, celebrating 47 years of our Republic and the Constitution that guides our nation.

As President Heine reminded us, our Constitution reflects our commitment to accountability and service to the people. This year’s theme, “Jabdik Jab Itwelok” (“Moving Forward Together”), is a call for unity and purpose in all we do.

We also acknowledge the President’s call to action on key national challenges, including the upcoming National Security and Substance/Drug Summit this Wednesday—an important step in strengthening our communities and shared responsibilities.

📸 Here are highlights of our team in Saturday’s parade!

This week ONS had the pleasure of meeting with New Zealand Ambassador Stuart Horne and First Secretary Richard Kim of the New Zealand Embassy and Consulate-General in Honolulu.

We had a productive discussion on ways New Zealand can support the work of ONS while complementing the efforts of our broader diplomatic partners. Although New Zealand does not have a physical presence on island, their commitment to showing up for RMI does not go unnoticed. We sincerely appreciate the time, effort, and partnership they continue to offer, and we value their role as part of our diplomatic community.

Kommol tata to Ambassador Horne and Mr. Kim for taking the time to engage with us. We look forward to building on this partnership in the future. 🇲🇭🤝🇳🇿🥝

These pieces represent not just who we are, but the journey we’ve been on and the partnerships that have helped bring our vision to life including:

Challenge Coins: Military Coins USA
Wall Plaque: Art SignWorks, Inc
Stickers: Custom Stickers

And a special acknowledgement to Ronnie Reimers for designing the ONS logo that ties it all together!

Today marks 2 years of ONS 🎂✌️

We’ll be honest—between back-to-back meetings and everything else on our plates, this one almost slipped by us. But maybe that says something too: it’s been a busy, full, and incredibly meaningful journey.

Over the past two years, we’ve grown not just as an organization, but as a community—rooted in values that feel close to home: respect, resilience, and looking out for one another. Kommol tata to everyone who has supported, partnered, and walked alongside us on this journey.

Like the Marshallese saying, “Jouj im kōm̧m̧an”—working together with care and purpose—we’re proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. 🌊 💙

This week, representatives from both Guards are in Majuro meeting with GRMI officials as part of their on-the-ground assessment mission.

Today, Tuesday April 28, they met with the Director and staff of the Office of National Security (ONS) to discuss key areas of cooperation, including cybersecurity, disaster response, medical support, counter-drug efforts, HAZMAT, and police training. ONS is also coordinating meetings with other government entities in the related sectors.

The Guam National Guard maintains partnerships with the Philippines and Palau, while the Nebraska National Guard works closely with the Czech Republic, Rwanda, and Tanzania—bringing valuable experience in security cooperation, disaster preparedness, and capacity building.

We look forward to strengthening this important partnership and potentially welcoming a State Partnership Program (SPP) representative from Guam to live and work in the Marshall Islands later this year.

The official signing of the State Partnership (SPP) with Guam snd Nebraska will take place in July.
