[2026 World Humanitarian Day: Humanity Continues Beyond the Emergency]

In recognition of World Humanitarian Day, KOICA reflects on its longstanding commitment to supporting communities beyond the immediate emergency, through continued humanitarian assistance and partnership.

In 2025, following the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar, affected communities began rebuilding their homes, restoring their livelihoods, and recovering from the profound impact of the disaster. While the immediate emergency has passed, many people continue to require humanitarian and recovery support as they work to rebuild their lives.

In response to the extensive humanitarian needs caused by the earthquake, the Government of the Republic of Korea, through the KOICA Myanmar Office, provided two in-kind contributions to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), valued at USD 0.35 million and USD 2 million, respectively.

Through this continued humanitarian partnership, earthquake-affected communities are receiving essential assistance in areas including shelter, household needs, water and sanitation, and energy. More importantly, this assistance reflects a commitment to stand with communities not only in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, but also throughout their longer journey toward recovery and resilience.

On this World Humanitarian Day, we reaffirm the importance of partnership, and sustained support for communities affected by crises. Together, we can help ensure that no community is left behind as it takes the long road from disaster toward recovery and resilience.

[2026 KOICA CSR Program]

On 12 August 2026, KOICA Myanmar Office conducted the 2026 KOICA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program as part of the KOICA Fellowship Program.

KOICA was delighted to contribute to the healthcare needs of the Yangon General Hospital (YGH) and the Yangon Children Hospital (YCH).

At the Yangon General Hospital, KOICA donated one Trauma Stretcher to the Department of Gastroenterology to support the care of patients using the endoscopy unit.

At the Yangon Children Hospital, KOICA donated three Digital Infusion Pumps to support the treatment and care of child patients. In addition, KOICA provided lunch and snacks for approximately 300 inpatients at the hospital.

Through this CSR activity, KOICA is grateful for the opportunity to support healthcare sector and contribute, even in a small way, to the well-being of patients and communities in Myanmar.

Signing Ceremony of the Grant Arrangements between KOICA and WFP, UNICEF, UNDP

On 27 July 2026, KOICA and WFP, UNICEF, UNDP officially signed the Grant Arrangements for the Myanmar Humanitarian Development Peace (HDP) Nexus Integrated Project, marking a significant milestone in a shared commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through an integrated HDP Nexus Approach.

By connecting WFP’s food security and nutrition programmes with UNICEF’s essential health and education services, and linking them directly to UNDP’s livelihood restoration and social cohesion efforts, the four partners ensure that emergency assistance seamlessly transitions into long-term community resilience.

[World Rural Development Day]

Strong rural communities are the foundation of a resilient future.

Together with UNDP Myanmar, KOICA is supporting rural communities across Myanmar to rebuild livelihoods, strengthen resilience, empower women, and improve access to essential infrastructure through community-led recovery.

Today, we celebrate the people whose resilience, leadership, and collective action are shaping stronger rural communities for generations to come.

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတစ်ဝှမ်းမှာ ကလေးတွေနဲ့ မိသားစုတွေကို မိုင်းအန္တရာယ်က ဆက်လက်ခြိမ်းခြောက်နေဆဲပါ။ အထူးသဖြင့် နေရပ်စွန့်ခွာနေရသူတွေအတွက် ဒီအန္တရာယ်က ပိုမိုနီးကပ်နေပါတယ်။

KOICA Myanmar ရဲ့ ပံ့ပိုးကူညီမှုနဲ့ ယူနီဆက်ဟာ ကလေးငယ်တွေ ဘေးကင်းနိုင်စေဖို့ မိုင်းအန္တရာယ်ဆိုင်ရာ ပညာပေးမှုတွေကို တိုးချဲ့ဆောင်ရွက်နေပါတယ်။

Landmines continue to threaten children and families across Myanmar, especially those already displaced. Thanks to the support of KOICA, UNICEF is expanding mine risk education to help keep children safe and save lives.

The KOICA Myanmar Office, together with UNHCR and UNFPA, hosted the “Footsteps for Solution Resilience” event in Yangon on 2 June to share key achievements of the project supporting the voluntary return and settlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kachin State.

The event featured presentations on project achievements, a panel discussion with implementing partners, a photo exhibition, and a 360° video experience highlighting project sites and beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries shared how the project has improved access to essential health and protection services in hard-to-reach communities, particularly for women and girls. They also highlighted that support for housing, land and property (HLP) documentation has helped families strengthen their livelihoods and build greater stability for the future.

KOICA remains committed to listening to the voices and needs of the people of Myanmar and supporting efforts to strengthen community resilience and improve access to essential services.

ကိုအီကာမြန်မာရုံးသည် UNHCR, UNFPA တိုနှင့်အတူ ပူးပေါင်း၍ ဆောင်ရွက်ခဲ့သည့် ကချင်ပြည်နယ်ရှိ ပြည်တွင်းနေရပ်စွန့်ခွာသူများ၏ ဆန္ဒအလျောက်နေရပ်ပြန်ရေးနှင့် နေရာချထားရေးကို ပံ့ပိုးပေးခြင်း စီမံကိန်း၏ အဓိက အောင်မြင်မှုများကို ပြန်လည်မျှဝေသည့် “ရေရှည်တည်တံ့ခိုင်မြဲသော ဖြေရှင်းနည်းများဆီသို့ ခြေလှမ်းများ“ အခမ်းအနားအား ဇွန်လ ၂ရက်နေ့၌ ရန်ကုန်မြို့တွင် ကျင်းပပြုလုပ်ခဲ့ပါသည်။

အခမ်းအနားတွင် စီမံကိန်းဒေသများနှင့် စီမံကိန်းမှ အကျိုးခံစားရရှိခဲ့သူများကို ဖော်ပြထားသော ဓာတ်ပုံပြပွဲနှင့် စီမံကိန်းဒေသသို့ ကိုယ်တိုင်ရောက်ရှိသွားသကဲ့သို့ ကြည့်ရှုခံစားရမည့် ၃၆၀ ဒီဂရီ ဗီဒီယိုကိုလည်း ထည့်သွင်းပြသခဲ့ပါသည်။

စီမံကိန်းမှ အကျိုးခံစားရရှိခဲ့သူများသည် ဝေးလံခက်ခဲသောဒေသများတွင် အမျိုးသမီးများနှင့် မိန်းကလေးများအတွက် မရှိမဖြစ်လိုအပ်သော ကျန်းမာရေးနှင့် ကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်ရေးဝန်ဆောင်မှုများကို ပိုမိုရရှိလာကြောင်း မျှဝေပြောကြားခဲ့ကြပါသည်။ ထို့အပြင် အိမ်ရာ၊ မြေယာ ပိုင်ဆိုင်မှုဆိုင်ရာ စာရွက်စာတမ်းအထောက်အပံ့များပေးခြင်းသည်လည်း မိသားစုများ၏ အသက်မွေးဝမ်းကျောင်းနှင့် အနာဂတ်အတွက် ပိုမိုခိုင်မာတည်ငြိမ်မှုကို တိုးမြှင့်ပေးနိုင်ခဲ့ကြောင်း ဖော်ပြခဲ့ကြပါသည်။
