The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority (COTA) is a federally funded agency under the Office of the Governor. COTA provides public transportation service through the use of their 7-seater vans, Call-a-Ride Service, to currently serve the community. By providing public transportation accessible to all ages to make crossing wide and costly distances more affordable and safe.

Fitness Fridays: 100 Miles Strong! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Since kicking off our COTA 100 Mile Challenge on June 26, 2026, what started as a fitness goal has become so much more, it is about teamwork, connection, and showing up for one another.

Every Friday at 6:00 a.m., the COTA team comes together for our 2-mile walk, building stronger relationships beyond the workplace and encouraging each other one step at a time.

We may walk different paths, but we move forward together. 💜🚌

Today, all rides are FREE as we celebrate the connections that keep our communities moving across Rota, Saipan, and Tinian.

From January 01 to June 30, 2026, we have provided 25,302 rides to neighbors, students, workers, and friends across all three (3) islands. Today, your ride is on US.😊

Super Typhoon Bavi: Emergency Transportation Activation

Official update from the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority as of 7/11/2026 at 0600.

The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, in collaboration with the CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management has coordinated and carried out over 197 transports during the emergency transportation activation for Super Typhoon Bavi on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian.

On Saipan, we have made a total of 169 transports, including 76 shelterees, 89 individuals with medical needs, and 4 individuals with other transportation needs.

On Rota, we have made a total of 22 transports, including 9 shelterees and 13 individuals with other transportation needs. COTA has also been activated to mass transport relief goods, distributing 727 meals on the island of Rota.

On Tinian, we have made 6 transports, including 1 individual with medical transport needs, and 5 individuals with other transportation needs.

Super Typhoon Bavi: Emergency Transportation Activation

Official update from the Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority as of 7/10/2026 at 0600.

The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, in collaboration with the CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management has coordinated and carried out over 699 transports during the emergency transportation activation for Super Typhoon Bavi on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian.

On Saipan, we have made a total of 119 transports, including 51 shelterees, 67 individuals with medical needs, and 1 individual with other transportation needs.

On Rota, we have made a total of 576 transports, including 9 shelterees, 554 meal transports, and 13 individuals with other transportation needs.

On Tinian, we have made 4 transports, including 1 individual with medical transport needs, and 3 individuals with other transportation needs.

The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority, in collaboration with the CNMI Homeland Security Emergency Management has coordinated and carried out over 517 transports during the emergency transportation activation for Super Typhoon Bavi on Saipan, Rota, and Tinian.

On Saipan, we have made a total of 94 transports, including 41 shelterees and 53 individuals with medical needs.

On Rota, we have made a total of 422 transports, including 9 shelterees, 400 meal transports, and 13 individuals with other transportation needs.

On Tinian, we have made 1 transport, including an individual with other transportation needs.

COTA updates service hours following "All Clear" declaration.

Following Governor David M. Apatang’s declaration of “All Clear” for Super Typhoon Bavi at 12:00 PM, COTA will update the following service hours for: Transit CNMI - Fixed Route Blue Line 1B, Call-A-Ride Saipan, Call-A-Ride Rota, and Call-A-Ride Tinian.

While COTA remains activated to support the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Emergency Operations Center for shelter transportation and other transportation needs during recovery, the following operational updates will be made.

OPERATIONAL UPDATES:

Call-A-Ride Rota (CARR) temporarily suspended until further notice. COTA remains activated to support emergency and recovery transportation on Rota. Please call the EOC State Warning Point at (670) 237-800 or (670) 664-8000.

Call-A-Ride Tinian (CART) has resumed normal operational hours following the “ALL CLEAR” declaration. Please call (670) 236-2682 to make your reservations.

Call-A-Ride Saipan (CARS) will resume normal operational hours on July 9, 2026, open on Sunday-Saturday from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Please call (670) 236-2682 to make your reservations 2 days in advance. CARS is currently operational for any hemodialysis transportation services.

Transit CNMI Fixed Route Blue Line 1B will resume modified operational hours, open Sunday-Saturday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM following the “ALL CLEAR” declaration. The first run will commence at 1:30 PM this afternoon.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue working to restore all services. We will continue to provide updates as conditions improve.

SERVICE ALERT: SUPER TYPHOON BAVI

July 5, 2026 at 0630

Due to Typhoon Condition II, COTA's transportation services are suspended until further notice.

Following Governor David M. Apatang's declaration of Typhoon Condition II for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, effective July 4, 2026 at 11:00 p.m., COTA will suspend the following transit services until further notice: Transit CNMI - Fixed Route Blue Line 1B, Call-A-Ride Saipan, Call-A-Ride Rota, and Call-A-Ride Tinian.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our staff and community members.

Released on June 23, 2026

The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority (COTA) will conduct professional development and staff training on Friday, June 26, 2026 for personnel serving on the island of Rota. As a result, Call-A-Ride Rota (CARR) Demand-Responsive Shared Ride services will be temporarily suspended on Friday, June 26, 2026.

The One-Call/One-Click Transportation Information Resource Center will remain open and available to assist riders with advance trip reservations and transportation information.

Regular Call-A-Ride Rota (CARR) services will resume on Monday, June 29, 2026.

COTA remains activated to support the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Operations Center for shelter transportation and other transportation needs during recovery. COTA has transported over 1,407 shelterees, first responders, and individuals with medical needs.

CURRENT OPERATIONS:

Call-A-Ride Rota (CARR) is fully operational. Please call (670) 236-2682 to make your reservations.

Call-A-Ride Tinian (CART) is fully operational. Please call (670) 236-2682 to make your reservations.

Call-A-Ride Saipan (CARS) has resumed normal operational hours, open on Sunday-Saturday from 6:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Please call (670) 236-2682 to make your reservations 2 days in advance.

Transit CNMI Fixed Route Blue Line 1B continues to operate under modified operational hours, open Sunday-Saturday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. With missing bus stop signs, please raise your hand to flag down our drivers before the bus arrives.
