The Economic Development Board (EDB), host agency for the SheTrades Mauritius Hub, successfully hosted the fourth session of the SheInvests: Financial Literacy Training Series for Women Entrepreneurs on 22 July 2026 at the EDB Headquarters in Ebene.

The session, entitled "Financial Risk Management and Insurance for Women-Led Businesses," was organised in collaboration with the Indian Business Council (IBC) and brought together women entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen the financial resilience and sustainability of their businesses.

Le marché africain pourrait devenir un nouveau levier de croissance pour les entreprises dirigées par des femmes à Maurice.

C’est dans cette perspective que l’Economic Development Board, en partenariat avec le Programme des Nations Unies pour le développement, a organisé, mercredi 8 juillet 2026, l’atelier « Unlocking AfCFTA Opportunities for Women-Led Businesses in African Markets » dans le cadre du SheTrades Mauritius Hub.

Pendant deux jours, entrepreneures, experts du commerce et décideurs ont examiné les opportunités offertes par la Zone de libre-échange continentale africaine (AfCFTA).

Cet accord, qui réunit 54 pays africains, vise à créer un marché intégré de plus de 1,4 milliard de consommateurs. L’atelier avait pour objectif de mieux préparer les entreprises féminines à l’export vers le continent, en leur offrant un accompagnement sur l’accès aux marchés, les procédures douanières, le financement, la logistique et le commerce numérique.

Selon le ministre des Affaires étrangères, l’honorable Dhananjay Ramful, l’AfCFTA se distingue par son protocole dédié aux femmes et aux jeunes dans le commerce, présenté comme une première dans un accord commercial.

The Economic Development Board (EDB), the host institution for the ITC SheTrades Mauritius Hub, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), successfully organised a two-day national workshop on “Unlocking AfCFTA Opportunities for Women-Led Businesses in African Markets” on 8–9 July 2026 at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Caudan.

The workshop brought together women entrepreneurs, policymakers, trade experts, financial institutions, logistics providers and key stakeholders to strengthen the capacity of Mauritian women-led businesses to take advantage of opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the international competitiveness of women entrepreneurs and support their expansion into African markets.
