📚✨ Celebrating 30 Years of Excellence at France Boyer de la Giroday SSS ✨📚

It was a great privilege to participate in the celebrations marking the 30th Anniversary of France Boyer de la Giroday State Secondary School, together with Dhananjay - Ritish Ramful, Mahend Gungapersad & Tony Apollon.

This significant milestone provided an opportunity to pay tribute to the dedicated rectors, educators, staff, parents and students who have contributed to the growth and success of the institution over the past three decades.

In my address, I congratulated the school's laureates, high achievers and students who have distinguished themselves in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. He highlighted that excellence extends beyond the classroom and can be achieved through leadership, innovation, community service, arts and sports.

Reflecting on the legacy of France Boyer de la Giroday, a pioneer in education and social development, I encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning, remain adaptable in a rapidly changing world, and become responsible citizens committed to the progress of our nation.

As France Boyer de la Giroday SSS celebrates thirty years of achievement, may it continue to inspire and nurture generations of young Mauritians to dream boldly, work diligently, and contribute meaningfully to society.

🇲🇺 Together, as One People, One Nation, let us continue to invest in education, empower our youth, and build a brighter future for Mauritius.

📸 Quel magnifique dimanche passé avec les membres de la 3rd Port Louis Scout Group à l’occasion de leur 85e anniversaire! ✨️

J’ai eu le grand plaisir d’assister à la messe d’action de grâce à la Cathédrale Saint-Louis ce matin, présidée par le Père David Chung et le Père Hervé de St Pern, sous le thème « 85 ans au service, guidés par la foi ».

Cette célébration a été l’occasion de rendre hommage aux générations de scouts, de chefs et de bénévoles qui ont façonné cette troupe depuis sa fondation, le 14 juin 1941, sous le nom de 6th Roman Catholic Scout Group.

Une pensée particulière pour Monsieur Mark Fok Seng, premier Group Scout Leader, ainsi que pour tous ceux et celles qui, depuis 85 ans, ont consacré leur temps, leur énergie et leur dévouement au service du scoutisme.

En tant que Patron de la Mauritius Scouts Association, je suis particulièrement fier de voir le mouvement scout continuer à inspirer les jeunes à travers des valeurs qui demeurent plus pertinentes que jamais: le service, le respect, la solidarité, le leadership et l’engagement citoyen.

Que cette belle aventure continue d’inspirer et de former de nombreuses générations à venir. 🇲🇺

Ambassador of Spain presents Credentials to President Gokhool

His Excellency Mr José Manuel Pascual García, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, presented his credentials to His Excellency Mr Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., President of the Republic of Mauritius, at State House yesterday.

He was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs María Carmen Rodríguez Alfageme; Mr Patrice Robert, Honorary Consul of Spain in Mauritius, and Mr Ruben Payen of the Consulate of Spain in Mauritius.

During the courtesy call, the long-standing diplomatic relations between Mauritius and Spain, established in 1979, were reviewed.

These relations have been characterised by cordiality, friendship, and shared values, particularly in the promotion of democracy, respect for international law, and human rights.

Discussions also focused on existing cooperation between the two countries and opportunities to strengthen collaboration in key sectors, including trade and investment, tourism, education, and cultural exchanges, alongside a shared interest in further enhancing bilateral political consultations.

The conversation also highlighted prospects for enhanced cooperation in emerging areas such as renewable energy, climate change, higher education, and the teaching of Spanish language in Mauritius.

Spain’s broader engagement with Africa through its Africa Strategy, which emphasises inclusive and sustainable development, was also highlighted. In this context, Mauritius was recognised as a potential partner in advancing shared regional priorities, particularly in support of Small Island Developing States.

Existing international cooperation frameworks in organ donation and transplantation were also noted, including Spain’s collaboration with the World Health Organization through the Global Observatory on Donation and Transplantation, which provides data and information on practices in the field and supports exchanges on approaches among countries.

On the margins of the discussion, President Gokhool and Ambassador José Manuel Pascual García spoke about the role of sports as a unifying force, including Spain’s participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026, underscoring the broader cultural and people-to-people dimensions of international engagement.

What a joy to have officials of the Presidency and representatives from neighbouring institutions come together for a refreshing awareness talk and yoga session at State House, in celebration of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026.

A heartfelt thank you to His Excellency Shri Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India; Her Excellency Mrs Aparna Ganesan, Deputy High Commissioner, and the entire team of the India in Mauritius (High Commission of India, Port Louis) - IGCIC for this initiative.

Our special appreciation goes to Dr Pooja Sabbarwal, AYUSH Chair, and Ms Tanya Gupta, Yoga Teacher, for sharing their expertise with us.

This year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Ageing", reminds us that wellness is for everyone- regardless of age, profession or fitness level.

[📸 Photos] President Gokhool and Comorian Minister Moustoifa Hassani Mohamed Discuss Bilateral and Regional Cooperation 🇲🇺 🇰🇲 🤝

His Excellency Mr Moustoifa Hassani Mohamed, Minister of Economy, Industry, Investment and Economic Integration of the Union of the Comoros, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., at State House yesterday.

The Minister was accompanied by the Consul General of the Union of the Comoros, Mrs Koulthoum Djamadar.

The exchange built on the positive momentum established during President Gokhool's visit to the Union of the Comoros in July 2025 to mark the 50th anniversary of the country's independence.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the bilateral relations between Mauritius and the Comoros, as well as ongoing cooperation in key sectors including health, education, infrastructure, information technology and fisheries.

Progress achieved in these areas was noted, and avenues for further strengthening bilateral and regional collaboration were explored.

President Gokhool reaffirmed Mauritius' continued support for the integration and active participation of the Comoros within regional frameworks, in particular the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Discussions also focused on the recently concluded Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Eastern and Southern African States comprising the Comoros, Mauritius, Madagascar and Seychelles, which is expected to create new opportunities for trade, investment and exports across the region.

President Gokhool conveyed his best wishes to the Government and people of the Comoros as preparations intensify for the hosting of the forthcoming Indian Ocean Island Games, scheduled to be held in 2027.

He highlighted that the Games would serve as an important platform for fostering regional solidarity, friendship and cooperation among the islands of the Indian Ocean.
