31 years of care, compassion and service - a beautiful reminder that service to humanity is service to God.

The occasion was also a reminder that ageing should never mean being forgotten or feeling left behind.

Our elders carry stories, wisdom and experiences that remain an important part of who we are.

President Gokhool highlighted the importance of bringing generations closer, bridging the digital divide, and creating a society where everyone feels valued, connected and included.

Because a stronger Mauritius is one where generations learn from one another, care for one another, and move forward together.

Our heartfelt appreciation to the Arya Sabha Mauritius, and the residents, management, staff, volunteers and all those who continue to make the Ashram a place of dignity, companionship and belonging. 🙏❤️

: An Evening of Culture, Flavours and Togetherness at the Marathi Cultural Circle Bhavani Mandir, Glen Park, Vacoas ✨️❤️

President Dharambeer Gokhool and Mrs Brinda Gokhool warmly joined the Premotsav Chaturthi celebrations - of Divine Love - and launched the inaugural “Flavours of Maharashtra” Food Festival.

Celebrating a legacy since 1971, the evening brought together devotion, culture and community, with a special appreciation for the generations who have kept Marathi traditions alive.

From cultural performances and interfaith harmony to community service and the rich culinary heritage of Maharashtra, the celebration reflected the beauty of Mauritius’ diversity and togetherness.

Our congratulations to its President, Mr Niteen Bappoo, and to the members and volunteers of the Marathi Cultural Circle Bhavani Mandir on this meaningful initiative and their continued dedication to community service, cultural preservation and unity.

[📸 Photos] Bilateral and Regional Cooperation at the Centre of Diplomatic Engagements as President Gokhool Receives Newly Appointed Ambassadors of Thailand and France

Bilateral relations and new avenues for cooperation were at the centre of today’s diplomatic engagements at the State House, as President Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., received the newly appointed Ambassadors of Thailand and France, who presented their Letters of Credence.

In his meeting with His Excellency Mr Ekapol Poolpipat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand - with residence at the Royal Thai Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa - discussions focused on the longstanding relations between Mauritius and Thailand, formally established in 1970, and on new avenues of cooperation in trade and investment, tourism, fintech, artificial intelligence, air connectivity, the blue economy, fisheries, agriculture, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Conversations also explored the potential for Mauritius to serve as a gateway for Thai investment into the SADC and COMESA regions, as well as the establishment of a Joint Commission to further advance bilateral cooperation.

The Head of State expressed appreciation to Thailand for its support to Mauritius on the issue of the Chagos Archipelago.

With His Excellency Mr Alexis Loyer, Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Mauritius, discussions focused on the longstanding and close ties between Mauritius and France, and cooperation across areas including education, water, the blue economy, maritime security, environment and climate action, culture, tourism, artificial intelligence, technology and food security.

France’s important role in strengthening regional cooperation and advancing multilateralism was highlighted.

Both sides also took stock of the continued strengthening of bilateral cooperation following the State Visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Mauritius in November 2025, as well as the cooperation with Réunion through the Mauritius-Réunion Island Joint Commission.

[📸Photo] President Gokhool received Mr Raj Kishore Ramsaha, Ombudsman of the Republic of Mauritius, for a productive exchange this morning.

This marked Mr Ramsaha’s first courtesy visit to State House following his appointment on 20 August 2026.

The official copy of the 52nd Annual Report of the Office of the Ombudsman, covering its activities and operations for 2025, was handed to the Head of State.

Both sides also reviewed the mission and objectives of the Office, established in 1968, including its role in investigating complaints against public institutions and addressing cases of maladministration, with a view to seeking redress where injustice may have occurred.

Discussions further focused on making the role and services of the Office more visible and accessible to the public, as well as on public expectations regarding accessibility, transparency and accountability.

With this year marking the 56th anniversary of the Office of the Ombudsman, activities planned in this context were also discussed, including initiatives to be organised in collaboration with the International Ombudsman Institute and the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA).
