The Companies, Registrations and Intellectual Property Centre (CRIPC) will be officially launched on Thursday, 28 May 2026, at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

The launch, beginning at 8:30 am, represents a major milestone in Malawi’s drive to modernise business registration and intellectual property services.

The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Charles Mhango, will preside over the ceremony as Guest of Honour, accompanied by Solicitor General and Secretary for Justice, Gertrude Hiwa, SC, alongside other officials from the Ministry.

The event will also draw senior government officials, members of the judiciary including Chief Justice Rizine Mzikamanda, and representatives from international organisations.

Previously operating as the Department of the Registrar General under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, CRIPC became a stand alone statutory corporation on 1st April 2026 following amendments to the Business Registration Act.

These reforms consolidated business registration, intellectual property, and civil registry services under one institution to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

The establishment of CRIPC is expected to streamline operations, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and support economic growth through improved intellectual property and business registration systems.

Blantyre – The Companies, Registrations and Intellectual Property Centre (CRIPC) is set to officially launch this Thursday, the 28th of May, marking a significant step toward accelerating the country’s business and intellectual property landscape.
