LILONGWE UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES (LUANAR)
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: BUNDA AND NRC CAMPUS ECONOMIC FEE PAYING AND MATURE ENTRY FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Bunda campus and NRC campus is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for admission into its Economic Fee Paying and Mature
entry programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Economic FeePaying programme is open to applicants starting from Year one, with 10 slots available for each program for both campuses, while Mature
Entry applicants are admitted into Year Two or Three depending on the programme requirements, with 15 slots available for each programme at Bunda campus and 20 slots available for each program at NRC campus.
Applicants are advised to only apply under one admission category, either Mature Entry or Economic Fee-Paying and select one campus only.
Applications submitted under more than one category or for multiple campuses will not be considered.

MSCE or IGCSE ‘O’ level certificate with six credits including English and Mathematics, and a minimum grade of C in English and Mathematics and any other art or Sciences subjects
MATURE ENTRY PROGRAMMES
1. Bachelor of Science in Animal Science
Candidates with a diploma with basic sciences, must have a cGPA of 2.5 or greater and must have worked for not less than two years in a relevant industry.
OR Candidates with diploma in Animal Production and Health or Veterinary Science with passes in: Chemistry, Biochemistry I, Biochemistry II, Statistics, Anatomy
and Physiology, Microbiology and Animal Health.
2. Bachelor Of Science In Agriculture
Candidates mush have a diploma in agricultural sciences from a LUANAR Senate recognized institution with
passes in basic sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
OR have a pass-with-credit diploma in agricultural sciences from a LUANAR Senate recognized institution.

Agriculture be admitted into year three of the programme.

12. Bachelor of Education Science majoring
Agriculture and Biology

at A-Lebel or any comparable qualification and a relevant Diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning
13. Bachelor of Education Science majoring Physics
and Mathematics
MSCE or IGCSE ‘O’ level or its equivalent with at least six (6) credit passes including English. Alternatively, at least three passes with grade “C” including English
at A-Lebel or any comparable qualification and a relevant Diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning
14. Bachelor Of Science In Agricultural Extension
MSCE certificate/equivalent O-Level qualifications OR 3
passes with at least grade ‘C’ in Biology, Mathematics, English and Chemistry & Physics at A-Level or any comparable qualification AND
a relevant University Diploma in Agriculture or agricultural related subjects, extension and rural development or an equivalent of a university diploma in the prescribed
fields.
15. Bachelor Of Veterinary Medicine
High School A levels with a minimum of Four A’s including Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics
OR Diploma in Animal Health programme with credit from a recognised institution and added advantage of work experience
16. Bachelor Of Science In Aquaculture And Fisheries Science
A relevant diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 2 years
of relevant post-diploma work experience.
17. Bachelor Of Science In Environmental Science
A relevant diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 2 years
of relevant post-diploma work experience.
18. Bachelor Of Science In Forestry
A relevant diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 2 years
of relevant post-diploma work experience.
19. Bachelor Of Science In Natural Resources
Management
A relevant diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of 2 years
of relevant post-diploma work experience.
20. Bachelor Of Science In Communication And
Journalism
MSCE or IGCSE ‘O’ level or its equivalent with at least four (4) credit passes including English. Alternatively, at least three passes with grade “C” including English
at A-Level or any comparable qualification and a relevant Diploma obtained from an accredited institution of higher learning
21. Bachelor Of Science In Food Science And
Technology
A Candidate with a diploma in an unrelated scientific discipline must have a strong pass in Chemistry,
Mathematics, Biology and Physics with a cGPA of 2.5 or greater and must have worked for 2 years in a
relevant industry.
OR Candidates with a diploma in Food Science and Technology or related discipline. These may at the
discretion of Faculty of Food and Human Sciences be admitted into year 3 of the programme.
22. Bachelor of Science in Gender and Development
A Candidate with a diploma in an unrelated discipline must have a strong pass in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology with a cGPA of 2.5 or greater and must
have worked for 2 years in a relevant industry.
OR Candidates with a diploma in a related discipline. These may at the discretion of Faculty of Food and
Human Sciences be admitted into year 3 of the programme.
23. Bachelor Of Science In Human Sciences And
Community Services
A Candidate with a diploma in an unrelated discipline must have a strong pass in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology with a cGPA of 2.5 or greater AND must
have worked for 2 years in a relevant industry.
OR Candidates with a diploma in a related discipline. These may at the discretion of Faculty of Food and
Human Sciences be admitted into year 3 of the programme. Candidates with diplomas from other accreditated institutions and NRC’s Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security programme from earlier years will be considered for admission in Year 2
OR Candidates with a Diploma from the 2017-revised Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security programme
from LUANAR’s Natural Resources College (NRC) will be considered for admission Year 3
24. Bachelor Of Science In Nutrition And Food

A Candidate with a diploma in an unrelated discipline must have a strong pass in Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology with a cGPA of 2.5 or greater AND must
have worked for 2 years in a relevant industry.
OR Candidates with a diploma in a related discipline. These may at the discretion of Faculty of Food and
Human Sciences be admitted into year 3 of the programme. Candidates with diplomas from other accreditated institutions and NRC’s Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security programme from earlier years will be considered for admission in Year 2
OR Candidates with a Diploma from the 2017-revised Food, Nutrition and Livelihood Security programme

Candidates must meet the specific minimum entry requirement for each Faculty/programme as outlined above
International students are admitted using the same criteria for Malawian candidates. Successful international candidates are required to submit police clearance reports from their countries of origin and pay USD100 processing fee for a study permit, during their registration at LUANAR.

A complete application package must include:
i. Scanned copies of original diplomas/certificates/academic transcripts which have been indicated
on the application. These must be duly certified by a Commissioner of Oaths as true copies of the originals.
ii. Proof of payment of application fee deposit slip bearing the name of the applicant and the amount of application fee paid.
iii. Proof of English Language proficiency for international candidates whose first language is not English.
