We need to get these death machines off the road. Ban all cars now.
What happens when you put unskilled, inexperienced, and distracted drivers behind the wheel of vehicles with instant torque and supposed “self-driving” capabilities? You get Tesla and the highest rate of fatal crashes of any automaker by an average of more than double.
Why are Teslas involved in so many fatal crashes? In the report put together by iSeeCars, executive analyst Karl Brauer says “the models on this list likely reflect a combination of driver behavior and driving conditions, leading to increased crashes and fatalities.” He continues “a focused, alert driver, traveling at a legal or prudent speed, without being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, is the most likely to arrive safely regardless of the vehicle they’re driving.”
If you’ve driven anywhere in the past decade you’ve no doubt encountered a Tesla driver on the road, likely paying more attention to the enormous center console screen or their own device than actually driving. With the false sense of safety and security given by “full self-driving,” they don’t feel the need to focus any attention on safely operating the vehicle themselves.
Just last week, 4 people were killed in a Model Y when the electric doors wouldn’t open after it crashed and burst into flames. The Model Y in particular has a fatal accident rate almost 4 times the industry average.
Despite being awarded an IIHS top safety pick, new safety feature cannot overcome the incompetent, distracted drivers behind the wheel of these battery powered transportation appliances.
