Online shopping: the good, the bad, and the bubbly.
The rise in online shopping and delivery services has never reached an all-time high than during this pandemic. It's convenient, it's cheap, and because of Covid-19, it is the safest way to get our needs from the basic food and groceries to gadgets and whatnot. There is an ugly side though -- the packaging, cling wrap, bubble wrap, packing peanuts that keeps our packages safe and protected from handling and the elements are also contributing to the pollution of our oceans. Although some of the courier bags nowadays are somewhat recyclable, most of them still end up in the bodies of water.
Until they have found a better way to rid ourselves of plastics, it's better to take these matters into our own hands. We encourage recycling the boxes, bubble wraps, and plastic packaging. Although, it's understandable that our first instinct is to dispose of them immediately (because Covid-19 is still very much around), a good wiping and sanitizing can render them usable again. If you are not keen to collect plastics for reusing, kindly donate, sell, or drop them in the recycling centers.
We hope that the price of our convenience will not mean the death of Mother Earth. We must protect her. After all, she is our only home. ππ€
