SM Muthu dedication and passion towards protecting the environment is unmeasurable.

Among his well known legacy are the sutera harbour reclamation, sinakut coal fire power plant, pitas wetlands clearing, and tanjung aru reclamation project.

He was also the menber and committee in various environmental society such Malaysian Nature Society and Sabah Environmental Protection Association (SEPA).

He will be greatly missed.

Perbuatan yang tidak bertanggungjawab oleh seseorang pemilik rumah yang memotong pokok hadapan rumahnya menghadap taman awam kanak kanak telah menyebabkan tanda tanya penduduk Taman Pasir Putih 1 di Putatan.

Menurut seseorang penduduk yang enggan dikenali, pokok tersebut ditebang kerana pemilik rumah itu tidak tahan akan daun yang berguguran membuat kawasan rumahnya dipenuhi daun.

Persoalannya, apakah itu alasan untuk menebang pokok tersebut sedemikian rupa? Lagipun pemotong pokok tersebut tampak tidak kemas dan pemilik tersebut membiarkan sisa dahan tersebut berselerak tanpa dibersihkan beberapa hari.

Penduduk memaklumkan bahawa pokok tersebut dahulunya ditanam oleh pemilik rumah tersebut di atas tanah yang dijadikan taman permainan kanak-kanak.

Walaubagaimanapun, pokok tersebut tidak boleh dipotong dan ditebang sesuka hati tanpa kebenaran dan makluman kerana ia tumbuh di tanah awam bawah jagaan Majlis Daerah Putatan.

Tambahan lagi, pemilik rumah tidak membersihkan dan membiarkan dahan dan sisa pokok tersebut di kawasan taman kanak kanak mengundang bahaya kecederaan kepada anak anak dan pengunjung.

Majlis Daerah Putatan digesa supaya menyiasat kejadian ini dan menghukum pelaku yang jelas telah melakukan kesalahan merosakkan kawasan awam dan menyebabkan risiko bahaya kepada penduduk rumah.
