“I just nodded. I didn’t really understand.” 😔
That’s what my mum said after going to the hospital alone.
The nurse spoke fast. Her English isn’t strong. So she smiled, nodded, and hoped the signboards would guide her.
They didn’t. 🪧
Small text. Medical terms like “Endocrine” and “Radiology.” Lighting that makes it worse if your eyesight isn’t sharp anymore.
She ended up wandering two floors, unsure where to go.
This happens more than we realize. For many elderly parents, the hardest part of a hospital visit isn’t medical — it’s language and literacy. 🗣️
And they often won’t tell you. They’ll just say “it’s okay, I managed.” Even when they didn’t.
This is exactly why Medimate exists.
Our trained, verified, non-medical companions accompany parents to hospital & clinic visits — helping them read signboards, understand directions, and communicate in the language they’re comfortable in (EN / BM / 中文). 🧭
