COP30 Debrief | Malaysia Pavilion 2030

As we learned from COP30 in Belém, Brazil, climate action is a global mutirão, a collective effort to address the shared challenge of climate change.

Today’s debrief at the Malaysia Pavilion surfaced key insights from Malaysia’s participation in the negotiations, amplified ASEAN’s climate voice, and explored how global commitments can translate into concrete, on-the-ground action.

The session also marked the official launch of Malaysia’s COP30 Participation Report, reinforcing transparency and continuity as Malaysia moves from negotiation to implementation.

In line with Malaysia MADANI, the discussion reflected our commitment to sustainability and public well-being, focusing on tangible impact to advance long-term climate goals.

Thank you to all speakers, partners, and participants for contributing to this meaningful dialogue as we look ahead to COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

Once again, thank you, and see you at COP31. Obrigado!

The Malaysia Pavilion saw success at COP30 with 5000+ visitors, 25 sessions, and 127 speakers 🌎🍃

Over two weeks, the Malaysia Pavilion drove global climate action through bold leadership and insightful
discussions. Through bilateral meetings, courtesy visits, and the launch of Malaysia’s NDC 3.0, we set new
targets that will advance our climate agenda across Southeast Asia.

A special thank you to our partners, Maybank and Tenaga Nasional Berhad! Your support helped make this impact possible.

A greener ASEAN starts with shared ambition — and shared power. At COP30, TNB reaffirmed its commitment to a clean energy future, highlighting the importance of the ASEAN Power Grid in enabling countries to tap into green resources together.

With NETR paving Malaysia’s path to net zero by 2050, TNB is driving change through three key roles: expanding green generation, strengthening a flexible grid that can support diverse renewable sources, and empowering customers as true beneficiaries of the energy transition.

Together, we are building a cleaner, smarter and more resilient energy ecosystem for all.

10 days of conversations, collaboration, and climate ambition at COP30 came to an end.

The Malaysia Pavilion closed with a message of hope, unity, and unwavering commitment. Across the two weeks, conversations spanning science-driven solutions to community-led resilience highlighted Malaysia’s belief that climate action must be shared, inclusive, and rooted in real change.

Thank you to our partners, speakers, and visitors for walking this journey with us. The work continues, and together, we’re moving towards a future that is greener, fairer, and climate-resilient.

Once again, thank you, terima kasih, and obrigado! Let’s continue this Mutirão for our planet.

🌎 COP30: 19–20 November 2025 🍃

Following the conclusion of COP30 last week, Days 9 & 10 highlighted Malaysia’s commitment to long-term, meaningful climate action.

From critical conversations on water resilience, ocean protection, and community-centred governance, to the closing of the Malaysia Pavilion led by reflections on our progress and our role as ASEAN Chair in 2025. These final sessions reaffirmed that safeguarding our planet begins with shared responsibility.

As leaders, youth and global partners echoed the urgency to act, one message stood strong: our climate journey doesn’t end at COP30. Malaysia, together with our ASEAN neighbours, is ready to build a future defined by resilience, collaboration, and ambition.

🌎 COP30: Day 10 Recap | 20 November 2025 🍃

As COP30 comes to an end, we’re looking ahead!

COP30 brought together voices from all over the world with government, youth and community representatives shining a light on the urgency for climate action. Malaysia, along with its ASEAN neighbours, are ready to start building climate resilient nations, all it takes is collective commitment and collaboration.

Our climate action doesn’t end here. Together, we can champion a sustainable nation.

Kicked off with a keynote speech by The Hon. Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Days 7 & 8 were followed by sessions centred around “Stewardship of Our Living Planet” and “Emerging Voices for Change”.

From conversations on community resilience and wellbeing to youth-led action and biodiversity protection, the discussions highlighted the importance of safeguarding both people and ecosystems. The launch of the FACT Dialogue Report further underscored how sustainable commodity trade can advance climate, nature, and livelihood.

The Hon. Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, delivered Malaysia’s National Statement at the High-Level Segment of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP30).

In the National Statement, he highlighted the ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’ approach, which serves as the central theme of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The statement also addressed Malaysia’s efforts to fulfil its obligations under the Paris Agreement, including the submission of its first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) in 2024 and Malaysia’s Third Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) in 2025. At the same time, the statement touched on recent developments in Malaysia’s climate-related policies and initiatives, such as the scaling up of renewable energy, the adoption of sustainable fuels like biofuels, and the exploration of nuclear energy as a clean energy source.

Additionally, Malaysia expressed hope that the UNFCCC COP30 conference, through Brazil’s Global Mutirão initiative, will enhance the implementation of actions and support for climate change adaptation, climate change mitigation, a just transition, and international cooperation.

In the second week of COP30, Malaysia continues to advance a clear message, “Climate Action Now: Net Zero Pathways Unlocked.”

With the submission of NDC 3.0, Malaysia marked a major milestone at COP30, outlining its pathway to peak national GHG emissions by 2030 and achieve an absolute reduction of 15 to 30 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2035.

And as The Hon. Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability puts it, “The successful development and submission of Malaysia’s NDC 3.0 marks not the end of a process, but the beginning of a new phase of collective climate action.”

Here’s to a continued momentum that turns commitments into action, and action into lasting impact for the planet.

🌎 COP30: Day 9 Recap | 19 November 2025 🍃

Water resilience plays a big role in our climate action.

Today, we heard from leaders who are championing water resilience and ocean conservation and those working to build a future where water governance is prioritised and communities are protected.

We also marked a key milestone with the closing speech of the Malaysia Pavilion, reflecting on our progress, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to meaningful, measurable climate action and underscoring our role as ASEAN Chair in 2025.

Through our collective effort, that future of shared resilience and climate ambition is coming closer every day.

20th November 2025 is the last day of COP30 and we’re livestreaming it on our page. Don’t miss out!

"As extreme weather, biodiversity loss, and rising seas intensify, they disrupt food and water supplies, strain livelihoods, and force communities into displacement. These cascading risks do not just threaten the environment — they destabilise societies, economies, and governance systems.

This session will confront the hard truths of climate insecurity: how ecosystems, food systems, and human mobility are being reshaped, and how grassroots innovation and Indigenous knowledge are offering practical responses. "
