Did you know this fluffy little “flower” is actually an insect? Meet the Flatid, or Ridiculous Planthopper nymph, spotted in Maliau Basin.

It is not a plant, not a fungus, and not a flower. Its soft, waxy fluff helps protect it from predators, but do not be fooled by its plump appearance. When irritated or threatened, this tiny creature can leap an impressive distance.
