This spring, the Torch Club from the Boys & Girls Club took on a service project focused on youth homelessness. Club members came together to assemble hygiene backpacks filled with essential items for young people facing homelessness in our community.

We are proud to share that these backpacks were donated to our Teen Transitional Living Program (TTLP), helping provide comfort and dignity to local youth in need.πŸ₯Ή

A huge thank you to the Torch Club members for their compassion and commitment to making a difference. πŸ™β€οΈ

Let’s take a moment to remember what this day is truly about. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. May God bless their memory and the families they left behind. Their courage and legacy will never be forgotten.

What We Do Wednesday: Walk Out Our Mission πŸ‘£

Whenever we talk about 'What We Do Wednesday', it always comes back to our mission. No matter the program or service, the heart behind it remains the same. ❀

Beyond the programs themselves are the staff members and individuals who bring them to life and shine a light on them throughout our community. β˜€

From one tabling event to the next, from volunteer opportunities to the everyday conversations with people we pass on the street, it feels like we are constantly sharing who we are and the work God has called us to do- and we LOVE that.

It’s a honor to connect with community and serve with purpose.

Building relationships that are guided by hope, led by compassion, and rooted in our faith are who we are, and for that- we are blessed. πŸ™

Since 1993, the Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has been the county’s largest one-day drive. Here in Broome County, we are honored to have one of our pantries, Mother Theresa’s Cupboard, as one of the recipients. πŸ™

Thank you to everyone who donated to this- even if your kindness didn’t come directly to our pantry, it will still help feed a family who is struggling to put food on their table and that’s everyone’s goal. 🍎🍽️

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and friends from Planet Fitness, who sorted just shy of 5000 lbs in six hours! You know the saying- Many hands make light work!

This is our community and we’re blessed to be a part of it. πŸ₯ΉπŸ’•

What We Do Wednesday: Children's Care Management

When life feels heavy, confusing, or hard to understand,
Care Management walks beside each child and lends a helping hand.βœ‹πŸ»

With guidance, support, and people who truly care,
They help youth find the tools and services they need everywhere.

A care manager becomes a steady voice and trusted guide,
Bringing schools, doctors, and supports all side by side.

From mental health services to housing and education too,
They help connect families with resources to see them through. πŸ“š

They help untangle systems that can feel too big to face,
Making sure no child or family gets lost in the race.

Creating plans with care, compassion, and hope from the start,
Keeping children safe, healthy, supported, and strong at heart.πŸ’š

Last week, our staff spent an evening at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School participating in their Mental Health Fair Day, connecting with students & families and other community partners. πŸ™Œ

The event focused on helping families learn more about community supports and services that promote mental health and overall well-being. Kim and Kristina did a great job talking with families about our services and sharing the different ways we may be able to support them. And, while we were there to provide information about our programs, many of the students had a different priority in mind- homework help! More than a few stopped by our table hoping someone could rescue them from math problems before the end of the night! πŸ˜‚

It made for a busy, fun-filled, informative evening getting to know more about our community and understanding the unmet needs that are around us. We’re grateful to Benjamin Franklin for inviting us to be part of such a great event. ❀
