Hon. Sam Nujoma, Governor of the Khomas Region, yesterday delivered the keynote address and officially opened the photography exhibition “Namibia – A Photographic View” at the City of Windhoek Function Hall. The exhibition forms part of the official visit to Windhoek by His Worship Christian Specht, Mayor of the City of Mannheim, Germany, and his delegation.

A joint co-production between the City of Windhoek and the City of Mannheim, realised with the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums and the National Art Gallery of Namibia, the exhibition presents Namibia through the lenses of photographers Margaret Courtney-Clarke and Rachel Ngeitokondjo Sakeus, with a focus on drought, climate change and the resilience of Namibian communities.

In his address, the Governor highlighted the Khomas Region’s unique position as the gateway to Namibia, and called for Windhoek to become a cultural destination in its own right, where creativity translates into income and opportunity for artists, the hospitality sector and residents alike.

We commend the City of Windhoek, the City of Mannheim, the Reiss-Engelhorn Museums, the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the participating photographers, and wishes the exhibition every success.

Hon. Sam Nujoma, Governor of the Khomas Region, this morning, officially opened the Standard Bank Blue Growth Series Market Access Day at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) in Windhoek.

Delivered by the Namibia Investment and Finance Academy (NIFA) in collaboration with Standard Bank Namibia, the Market Access Day creates a functioning marketplace where local enterprises meet buyers and conclude transactions. Entrepreneurs are provided trading space and engage directly with retailers, wholesalers, development finance institutions, GS1 Namibia and the Namibia Standards Institution.

In his address, the Governor celebrated the industriousness of Khomas residents across the Region’s constituencies and noted that platforms such as this open the door to what many enterprises need most, a fair opportunity to sell. He encouraged buyers to place orders where they see quality, invited financiers to share their funding options, and wished all participating enterprises a productive day of trade.
