SOULMYST SONG JOURNAL || ONE GLORIOUS MORNING
SOULMYST REFLECTION NOTE
There are songs that comfort us while we are living, there are songs that remain with us long after someone has gone. "One Glorious Morning" became both. It is a melody that refuses to argue with life's hardships. Instead, it quietly reminds us that the value of a journey is not measured only by its difficulties, but by the hope that carries us through them.
BEHIND THE SONG
This was another of the treasured songs that accompanied my mother's years of ministry. Whenever she sang it, it was never merely a hymn—it was a confession of hope. A declaration that what had been promised was greater than everything life could either offer or withhold.
There came a season when it became evident that many of the dreams she had carried would not fully unfold within this lifetime. Yet there was no bitterness in her voice, only peace. She had learned to desire today's joys without becoming imprisoned by today's disappointments. She hoped for the best, prepared herself for the worst, and continued her journey with quiet dignity.
When she finally completed her earthly race, something remarkable happened. I did not search for this song, this song found me. The melody settled upon my lips and remained there for weeks, becoming an unexpected companion in the days that followed. It was no longer simply one of her songs.
That is why, in her tribute piece "Hallelujah (Mummy G)," I chose to close with One Glorious Morning. It was the melody that gently refused to let grief become despair.
CLOSING REFLECTION
Perhaps the greatest inheritance is not found in what a person owned, but in what continues to strengthen others after they are gone. If a song can still steady a trembling heart, if a melody can still keep hope alive, then perhaps some voices never truly fall silent, they simply continue singing through those who remain.
