LABOUR PARTY, ABA SOUTH CHAPTER INAUGURATES MARKET EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

The Labour Party, Aba South Chapter, has embarked on grassroots mobilisation aimed at increasing the party’s chances in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. As part of its strategy, the party visited various markets in Aba to mobilise traders who are committed to consolidating the gains of the "New Abia" under the distinguished leadership of His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti. This pre-campaign engagement serves as a litmus test, and shows that the LP is widely accepted.

The Abia South Zonal Chairman of the party, Dr. Kingsley Nwobilor, who represented the State Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike, addressed the gathering. He declared that the Labour Party has brought light to Abia through the purposeful leadership of Governor Otti. Other state executive members were part of his entourage.

In his remarks, the LP Chairman for Aba South Local Government Area, Chief Egbebu Mmaju, received the team. He assured them that Aba South is not only solidly behind Governor Otti, but is also ready to make the necessary sacrifices to ensure his victory in 2027. He further presented a brief synopsis of Governor Otti's achievements in Aba.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of market leaders. Those inaugurated include: Chief Inem Odeghe - for Ngwa Road Market, Chief Michael Uzubi Ogoh - for Akwaete Nsulu Market, and Hon. Victor Enyinnaya - for Morning Market, alongside their respective executive members. The Eziukwu Market chapter was not left out.

Leaders of the various markets were present at the event. They jointly received the delegation and pledged their support for the party’s mobilisation drive ahead of 2027. Also present were LGA executive members of the party, ward chairmen, and other critical stakeholders. The Chairman of the Aba South Stakeholders Forum, Chief Shaka Dimgba Obasi, was physically present.

The party stated that this market engagement will be sustained across Aba South. The aim is to deepen grassroots support and ensure that the dividends of good governance under Governor Otti get to every trader and resident.

Labour Party Women Leaders in Aba South Solidarize with Aba South Mayor, Assure Support

Women Leaders of the Labour Party in Aba South recently paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman (Mayor) of Aba South Local Government Area, Hon. Obialor Anyanwu. The team was led by the Party Women Leader, Mrs. Ebony Ogechukwu.

The purpose of the visit was to appreciate the Mayor for his support to the women and to deepen collaboration between the party’s women wing and the council administration.

Speaking during the engagement, Mrs. Ogechukwu praised the Mayor’s leadership style and his visible projects across Aba South. She said Labour Party women are ready to work harder to advance the ideals of the party and support government programs at the grassroots.

Other women leaders who spoke lauded the Mayor for always carrying women along and for responding promptly to issues affecting them. They described him as a gender-friendly leader committed to inclusive governance.

Responding, the Mayor applauded the women for their loyalty and commitment to the Labour Party. He tasked them to take ownership of mobilization in their wards and ensure women are properly sensitized ahead of party and government activities. According to him, a strong ward structure remains the foundation of political success.

The Mayor also called for synergy between Labour Party women and other groups in the LGA, including Abia Arise Women and Onu Ugu Women. He reiterated his administration’s resolve to support initiatives that empower women economically and politically, and assured the delegation of an open door policy.

Thereafter, the delegation visited the Supervisors' offices where they held discussions with Hon. Mrs. Nkechinyere Gold Kalu, Supervisor for Health; Hon. Uche Ogaraku, Supervisor for Works; and Hon. Napoleon Elliot Ahuruonye, Supervisor for Information and Digital Economy. The women urged the Supervisors to keep up the good work.

Both the party women and the Mayor expressed optimism that with unity and teamwork, Aba South will witness greater progress under the Labour Party administration.

Aba South LP Executives Present New Team to Mayor Anyanwu, Commit to Electoral Goals

Aba South Labour Party Executives conferred with the Chief Executive of Aba South, Hon. Obialor Anyanwu. The party delegation, led by LGA Chairman Chief Egbebu Mmaju, formally presented the newly elected local government executives who emerged from the congresses.

The Aba South LP leadership commended the Mayor and other critical stakeholders for facilitating a peaceful exercise during the ward and local government congresses. Chief Egbebu Mmaju stated that the peaceful and orderly conduct of the congresses was essential to installing the current grassroots leadership of the party in Aba South.

Responding to the delegation, Mayor Anyanwu charged the Aba South LP executives to make internal unity the cornerstone of the party’s advancement. “Your concern should be anchored on internal unity. If you must grow, let the stories of yesterday be gone, while you focus on the future,” he said. He encouraged the executives to set aside previous disputes and work together to fortify the Labour Party in the local government.

Speaking on electoral targets, the Aba South LP received a firm directive from Hon. Obialor Anyanwu. “The basics should be that the result coming from our LGA will be unimaginable. Our eyes should be on the ball,” the Mayor declared. He stressed that delivering victory for Governor Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates is sacrosanct.

The Mayor also applauded the Aba South LP for making out time to visit him. He noted that the session allowed the council and the party leadership to synchronize strategies for consolidating the Labour Party’s structure and influence across the LGA.

Also present was the Secretary to Aba South Local Government, Elder Gideon Adikwuru, who spoke to the Aba South LP executives, stating, “…put the party together for the task ahead,” and pointing out that unity and proper coordination are indispensable as the party prepares for future political engagements.

The courtesy visit underscores the Aba South LP’s continued efforts to entrench its grassroots presence. With deliberate emphasis on unity and electoral preparedness, the meeting demonstrates a shared determination to strengthen the party within the LGA.

For the Aba South LP, the engagement with the Mayor reflects a renewed dedication to political consolidation and unified action. The party’s leadership in the LGA appears determined to build a strong structure that can achieve its electoral objectives in Abia State.
