HAPPY 40TH PRIESTLY ANNIVERSARY, VERY REV. FR. THEOPHILUS UKORO IGWE!

Today, 23 August 2026, we joyfully celebrate and thank God for the life and priestly ministry of Very Rev. Fr. Theophilus Ukoro Igwe a devoted Catholic priest of the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki as he marks 40 glorious years of priestly service.

On 23 August 1986, he was ordained to the sacred priesthood at St. Therese Cathedral, Abakaliki, and began a remarkable journey of selfless service to God, His Church, and His people.

Among his many pastoral and academic contributions, Very Rev. Fr. Theophilus Ukoro Igwe served as Rector of Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, Nigeria, from 2006 to 2015. He was appointed to this important responsibility on 25 March 2006, where he dedicated himself to the formation and nurturing of future priests.

40 years of grace.
40 years of service.
40 years at the altar.
40 years for Christ and His Church.

Forty years at the altar is far more than a milestone. It represents four decades of celebrating the Holy Eucharist, proclaiming the Gospel, administering the Sacraments, guiding and accompanying God's people, forming young men for the priesthood, and generously offering his life in the service of Christ and His Church.

As we celebrate this remarkable priestly jubilee, we thank God for the gift of his vocation, his wisdom, his commitment to priestly formation, and the countless lives he has touched through his ministry.

Congratulations, Very Rev. Fr. Theophilus Ukoro Igwe!

May the Lord, who called you to His service forty years ago, continue to renew your strength, deepen your joy, and crown your years of faithful ministry with abundant blessings.

May your priesthood continue to bear rich and lasting fruit for generations to come, and may the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, continue to intercede for you.

IN LOVING MEMORY OF LATE MR. SOLOMON SUNDAY EZEALI.

It was in the early hours of *August 15th, 2024* the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, while his friends and relatives were preparing for Holy Mass,
little did we know that *Late Mr. Solomon Sunday Ezeali* has prepared to join the choirs of angels in the kingdom of God.

IT IS TWO YEARS TODAY!

Two years since we *lost* his *melodious voice* from the midst of our parish choirs.
👇
Two years since our children lost his gentle and inspiring catechism teachings.
👇
Two years since our Parishioners *lost* his *clear, audible, and well-articulated readings of God’s word* at the altar.
👇
Two years since our parish committees, especially *Harvest and Bazaar,* lost his *selfless service and his willingness* to sacrifice for the good of the Church.
👇
Two years since the Parish Council *lost* his *courageous voice of truth. A voice that spoke with conviction, offered counsel, and was never afraid to stand for what he believed was right.

Two years since his beloved wife and little children *lost* the warmth of a father’s love.

Today, on this holy feast, let us commit his vibrant soul to the loving care of Our Blessed Virgin Mary.

And let us remember with compassion that *his wife and children are still carrying the BURDEN of his ABSENCE, and they need the helping hands of the children of God, people like you and me.
“Whoever is kind to the needy lends to the Lord.” — Proverbs 19:17

Pls, let us reach out. Nothing is too small.

Both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria left the meeting visibly displeased, as they openly disagreed on the best way forward for the welfare of ordinary citizens. If you like call the Bishops opposition elements, but the message has been delivered.

The truth remains that Nigerian Bishops, from time immemorial, through military rule to civilian rule, have been a beacon of hope in seasons of political hopelessness.

Nigerians have endured enough of despotism. Yet in every critical moment like this, once the Bishops speak with divine conviction, the voice of political power often shakes and grows quiet.
“For their (Catholic Bishops') struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against... the bad rulers, authorities, against the powers of this dark world.” — Ephesians 6:12

No matter how many times King Ahab chooses to listen to lying prophets, it is Prophet Micaiah who speaks the truth that determines the course of history.
Catholic Bishops of Nigeria are not against present government but the bad policies, insecurity and hardship in the land.

In this nation, truth must still have a place at the table.

A new day begins as the Church celebrates St. Benedict, the Father of Western Monasticism and a faithful witness who devoted his life to seeking Christ above all else.

As we begin this feast, let us entrust ourselves, our families, and our homes to God's loving care. Through the intercession of St. Benedict, may Christ strengthen us against every temptation, fill our hearts with His peace, and keep us faithful in all we do.

St. Benedict, pray for our protection.
May Christ guard our hearts, our homes, and our families.
