FG Launches Centralised Gateway Portal for Government Services

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has officially launched a unified digital platform, services.gov.ng, designed to provide citizens and business owners with a single, streamlined point of access to a wide spectrum of public services. Previously, accessing government services required navigating multiple agency websites, dealing with fragmented digital channels, or physically visiting administrative offices.

The centralised platform simplifies public administration by unifying essential services, ranging from business registration, trade permits, and identity verifications to official licensing, empowerment opportunities, and civic programs into a user-friendly interface.

It empowers citizens and entrepreneurs to complete applications, verify official information, and access government opportunities online from anywhere, eliminating the need to navigate scattered platforms or rely on unreliable third-party intermediaries.

The initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises digital transformation, institutional transparency, public sector efficiency, and improved service delivery for all Nigerians.

The platform provides direct digital access to business and commerce tools, official identity management services, regulatory licensing, and various government-backed empowerment initiatives.

Furthermore, channeling interactions through a single, officially verified portal eliminates procedural redundancies, cuts down on administrative delays, and safeguards citizens against fraudulent schemes and fake websites.

FG Launches Tinubu Light Initiative to Power 1 Million MSMEs with Clean Energy

The Federal Government has launched the Tinubu Light Initiative, a nationwide renewable energy programme aimed at providing affordable and reliable clean electricity to one million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria.

The initiative was unveiled by the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) at the National Showcase of the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026 in Abuja.

The programme is designed to help MSMEs reduce the high cost of electricity and their reliance on petrol and diesel generators through innovative financing models and strategic partnerships.

According to the Director-General of NBTI, Dr Kazeem Raji, the initiative is expected to create more than 50,000 direct jobs, promote the adoption of renewable energy, support local manufacturing and improve the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.

Raji said reducing the cost of energy would enable businesses to redirect savings into production and expansion, leading to higher productivity, increased employment and stronger economic growth, particularly for women and young entrepreneurs.

“Imagine one million businesses operating with lower production costs; entrepreneurs reinvesting their savings into business expansion; increased productivity across every sector of our economy; cleaner communities and stronger local industries,” he enthused.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the administration’s efforts to promote innovation, science, technology and entrepreneurship as drivers of sustainable economic development.

NOA Ogun Steps Up Value Reorientation Drive at NYSC Camp, Charges Corps Members on National Values and Security Consciousness

Nigerian youths has again been reminded the importance of embracing the National Core Values as a foundation for National rebirth, peaceful coexistence and sustainable nation building.

This advice was given by the Ogun State Director, Mrs Aishat Bolanle Tiamiyu during on-going National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Programme for the Batch B Stream II at the NYSC Camp, Ikenne Road, Sagamu.

Mrs Tiamiyu who was represented by Mr Femi Famure, the desk officer, Youth Engagement and Inclusion urged the Corp members to embrace the National Core Values as a foundation for national rebirth, peaceful coexistence and sustainable nation building.

The Engagement also addressed youth-related social vices, including cultism, cybercrime and ritual killings. The Corps members were encouraged to shun activities capable of jeopardising their future, the safety of others and the development of the nation.

The State Director further challenged the Corps members to engage in honest self-reflection by asking critical questions about their past, their present choices and the kind of future they desire. They were reminded that responsible choices, discipline and positive values are essential ingredients for personal growth and national transformation.

The orientation which commenced on 13 to 15 August, underscores NOA continuous commitment to engaging young Nigerians as critical stakeholders in the campaign for value restoration, national unity and responsible citizenship.

NOA, Vision Spring Deepen Collaboration to Drive Jigi Bola Eye Care Programme in Ogun

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ogun State Directorate, has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained public enlightenment and mobilisation for the successful implementation of the Jigi Bola Free Eye Glasses Programme in the state.

The assurance was given during the flag-off of the Vision Spring Refresher Training for NOA and Health Personnel, held in Abeokuta, with the theme “See Well, Do Well.”

Speaking at the programme, the Ogun State Director, Mrs. Aishat Bolanle Tiamiyu who was accompanied by the Desk Officer, Health and Social Care, Mrs. Adejoke Olayode, said the Agency had continued to make concerted efforts to sensitise and mobilise members of the public towards accessing and collecting the free Jigi Bola eyeglasses.

She therefore commended the commitment of NOA personnel across the state for their sustained engagement with the communities and encouraging eligible beneficiaries to participate in the programme.

Mrs. Tiamiyu stated that the Agency would continue to deploy its grassroots mobilisation structures to ensure that relevant information about the programme reached the intended beneficiaries, particularly those who require the eye-care intervention.

Leading the Vision Spring team, Mr. Saad, commended the health personnel and the NOA Ogun State Directorate for their dedication and excellent performance in supporting the programme.

He appreciated the efforts of the personnel in disseminating information and carrying out their responsibilities effectively within their respective areas, stressing the importance of continued collaboration between NOA and health workers for the success of the initiative.

The training was facilitated by Mrs. Enilolobo, Primary Health Director, Oke-Ilewo, who urged the participants to remain vigilant, committed and professional in the discharge of their responsibilities.

She also encouraged health personnel to continuously involve the Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officers in their activities, noting that closer collaboration with NOA would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and contribute to the effective implementation of the programme.

FG Approves Better Career Growth and Pay for University Non-Teaching Staff

The Federal Government has approved a new career progression policy for qualified non-teaching staff in Nigerian universities, allowing eligible degree holders to advance in their careers up to CONTISS 15, the top level under the Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure.

The approval is part of the 2026 agreement between the Federal Government and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), following years of negotiations.

Before the approval of this new policy, degree-holding non-teaching staff faced career progression stagnation and a lower terminal grade limit.

But what does this mean in simple terms?

Non-teaching staff are the people who help keep universities running outside the lecture halls. They include workers in administration, registries, bursaries, libraries, ICT units, laboratories, health services and other support departments.

Under the new arrangement, qualified staff who meet the required conditions will have clearer opportunities to rise through the ranks up to CONTISS 15. CONTISS simply refers to the salary and career structure used for senior non-academic staff in Nigeria's tertiary institutions.

The agreement also includes a 35 per cent increase in emoluments, improved allowances, more opportunities for training and professional development, and measures aimed at protecting non-teaching jobs.

The changes are significant because universities depend on far more than lecturers to function effectively. From processing student records and managing finances to maintaining ICT systems, supporting laboratory work and providing health and administrative services, non-teaching staff play an important role in the daily running of the university system.

The Federal Government says the wider reforms are aimed at improving workers' welfare and strengthening Nigeria's tertiary education system.

For ordinary Nigerians, the idea is straightforward: better career opportunities, improved pay and stronger working conditions can help create a more motivated workforce—and a university system better equipped to serve students and the country.

Team Nigeria has once again demonstrated resilience, excellence, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit with an outstanding performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Nigerian contingent concluded the Games with an impressive haul of 24 medals - 10 Gold, 7 Silver, and 7 Bronze, finishing 7th overall on the medals table and emerging as the highest-ranked African nation at the competition.

The Games witnessed several historic milestones for Nigerian athletics. Samuel Ogazi became the first Nigerian man to win the Commonwealth men's 400 metres title, while Ezekiel Nathaniel claimed Nigeria's first-ever Commonwealth gold in the men's 400m hurdles. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi also made history by securing Nigeria's first Commonwealth gold medal in the men's shot put. In another landmark achievement, Temitope Adeshina ended Nigeria's 72-year wait for a Commonwealth high jump medal with a bronze-medal performance.

NOA OGUN SENSITIZES NURSING MOTHERS ON EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING TO COMMEMORATE WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK

The Ogun State Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting healthier families and improving maternal and child health through sustained grassroots sensitization, as it commemorated the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week with a public enlightenment programme for nursing mothers.

The sensitization exercise was held at Okelewo Primary Health Facility, Abeokuta, under the global theme, "Breastfeeding Beyond Nutrition: Building Healthy Futures Together." The programme was organized in collaboration with a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member attached to the Agency, Miss Ugoagha Ezichi Ituma.

Speaking during the programme, the State Director, Mrs. Aishat Bolanle Tiamiyu, who was represented by the Desk Officer, Health and Social Care, Mrs. Olayode Adejoke Adegbemisola, educated nursing mothers on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of a baby's life. She also emphasized the need to continue breastfeeding alongside appropriate complementary feeding up to two years and beyond.

She explained that breast milk provides all the essential nutrients required for a baby's healthy growth and development. The mothers were advised against giving newborns water, herbal mixtures, or any other food within the first six months, stressing that exclusive breastfeeding significantly reduces the risk of infections, diarrhoea, malnutrition, and other childhood illnesses. She further highlighted that breastfeeding strengthens a child's immune system, supports brain development, and contributes to healthy physical and emotional growth.

The sensitization also focused on the health benefits of breastfeeding for mothers. Participants were informed that breastfeeding aids faster recovery after childbirth, lowers the risk of breast and ovarian cancers, and strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. They were encouraged to maintain good personal hygiene, consume balanced diets, stay adequately hydrated, and seek professional medical care whenever they experience breastfeeding challenges.

The interactive session was well received by the nursing mothers, who expressed appreciation to the National Orientation Agency for the timely and informative engagement. They described the programme as enlightening and pledged to apply the knowledge gained in ensuring healthier outcomes for their children.

NOA Ogun Rallies Citizens for Credible Elections, Youth Participation and National Values on Splash FM

The National Orientation Agency, Ogun State Director, Mrs Aishat Bolanle Tiamiyu has stressed the need for Nigerians to see elections participation not only as civic but a powerful means.

Mrs Tiamiyu gave this advice today in Abeokuta while featuring on Splash 106.7 FM weekly programme: PANORAMA . The NOA Boss reiterated that the Agency remains committed to orientating, sensitising and mobilising the people on government programmes, policies and activities.

According to her, changing generations requires new approaches to civic education, calling on youths to deliberately understand their responsibilities as future leaders. Emphasizing that the future of the nation lies in the hands of both the young and the old, urging parents to take responsibility for instilling sound moral values and civic consciousness in their children before external influences shape their character.

According to her, participation in elections is not only a civic duty but a powerful means through which citizens can influence governance and national development. She encouraged Nigerians to reject voter apathy, stressing that assumptions about predetermined election outcomes can only be challenged when eligible citizens come out to vote and peacefully speak up against electoral malpractice.

The NOA Boss reiterated that the National Orientation Agency remains committed to orienting and reorienting Nigerians through continuous engagement across communities, schools, public institutions and other organized groups. She disclosed that the Agency will intensify its voter education campaign using both conventional and digital media platforms, including radio, television, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other social media channels, to ensure wider access to accurate electoral information.

Mrs. Tiamiyu further revealed that NOA would extend its sensitization campaign to secondary schools and tertiary institutions, noting that young people have a significant role to play in promoting democratic values within their families and communities. She explained that the Agency also uses these engagements to educate students on key Federal Government initiatives, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), clarifying that the scheme is available only to students of public tertiary institutions and other government-recognized institutions, and not private institutions.

Mrs. Tiamiyu urged Nigerian youths to lead by example and embrace their responsibility as agents of positive change, emphasizing that every vote counts in shaping the country's future.

She concluded by calling on citizens to remain patient and optimistic, stating that Nigeria is undergoing a gradual process of national transformation. NOA Ogun Deepens Partnership with State Government as Head of Service Pledges Support for Public Sensitisation Initiatives

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Ogun State Government following a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Head of Service, Alhaji Olanrewaju Iskeel Saka.

The visit forms part of the Agency's ongoing strategic engagement with key stakeholders to deepen partnership in promoting government policies, programmes and people-oriented initiatives across the state.

Leading the delegation, the Ogun State Director, Mrs. Aishat Bolanle Tiamiyu, congratulated Alhaji Saka on his well-deserved appointment as the Ogun State Head of Service. She also appreciated Office of the Head of Service towards the successful hosting of the Tax Reform Stakeholders' Forum held by the Agency in Abeokuta.

Mrs. Tiamiyu highlighted the core mandate of the National Orientation Agency, which includes sensitising, mobilising and educating citizens on government policies, programmes and activities. She explained that the Agency also serves as a vital feedback channel by gathering public opinions and concerns on government initiatives and relaying them to the appropriate authorities to enhance responsive governance.

The State Director further briefed the Head of Service on the Agency's ongoing advocacy on the Rule of Law and the National Values Charter, stressing the need for stronger institutional collaboration in promoting patriotism, civic responsibility and national development.

She also sought the support of the Ogun State Government for the Agency's proposed statewide sensitisation campaign ahead of the forthcoming General Elections. According to her, the campaign will focus on voter education, the electoral process, proper voting procedures and measures to reduce the incidence of void and invalid votes.

The NOA Boss reaffirmed the Agency's readiness to partner with the Ogun State Government in implementing programmes that will positively impact the lives of residents. She noted that NOA deploys various community-based communication strategies, including media engagement, village square meetings, marketplace sensitisation, motorised campaigns and other grassroots approaches to effectively reach the people.

In his response, the Ogun State Head of Service, Alhaji Olanrewaju Iskeel Saka, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the State Director for the visit. He encouraged the Agency to intensify efforts in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities to ensure that citizens remain adequately informed and engaged.
