Abeokuta South Chairman, Balogun, Partners School of Nursing on Community Health Outreach, Reaches Over 1,000 Residents

The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare through strategic partnerships as the council, in collaboration with the Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences, provided free medical services to over 1,000 residents across the local government.

The community health outreach, held at the Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat, formed part of the local government’s healthcare intervention efforts and complemented the Chairman’s I.W.I.S.H. initiative. The exercise attracted beneficiaries from all 15 wards of the local government.

Residents received free blood pressure and blood sugar tests, eye examinations, chest checks, health counselling and other basic medical services aimed at promoting early detection, disease prevention and healthier living.

To ensure wider participation, the Executive Chairman also provided transportation support for beneficiaries who attended the outreach.

Speaking during the programme, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through partnerships with relevant institutions.

He described healthcare as a critical pillar of sustainable community development, adding that the collaboration with the Ogun State College of Nursing Sciences reflects the local government’s resolve to bring quality healthcare closer to the people.

The Chairman commended the management of the institution, its lecturers and student nurses for their dedication to community service, noting that the partnership has further strengthened ongoing efforts to expand access to preventive healthcare in Abeokuta South.

According to him, the outreach aligns with his administration’s vision of building a healthier and more productive society through meaningful collaboration with healthcare institutions and professionals.

Beneficiaries from the 15 wards expressed appreciation to the local government and the College of Nursing Sciences, describing the outreach as timely and impactful, especially for elderly residents and other vulnerable members of the community.

Hon. Balogun reiterated that his administration will continue to pursue strategic partnerships and people-centred programmes that improve healthcare delivery, promote healthy living and enhance the overall well-being of residents of Abeokuta South Local Government.

I.W.I.S.H: Abeokuta South Chairman, Balogun, Reaffirms Commitment to Healthcare as Over 1,000 Residents Benefit from Nursing Schools' Outreach

The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to improving access to quality healthcare as over 1,000 residents benefited from a community health outreach programme organised by nursing schools across the council area.

The annual outreach, held at the Abeokuta South Local Government Secretariat, complemented the I.W.I.S.H initiative of Balogun, covered all 15 wards of the local government and offered free medical screenings and other basic healthcare services to residents.

Beneficiaries received free blood pressure and blood sugar tests, eye examinations, chest checks and health counselling aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of diseases.

To further encourage participation, the council chairman also provided transportation support for beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Balogun described healthcare as a fundamental pillar of community development, stressing that his administration would continue to support initiatives that improve the health and well-being of residents.
