Here’s why:

Energy markets are global.

Oil produced in one part of the world is traded across continents.
So when conflict happens in major energy regions , especially places like the Middle East -supply can be disrupted.

And once supply is affected…

Prices react.

Globally.

Including here in Nigeria.

This is why energy is not just science.

It is also:
• politics
• economics
• security

And this is why energy education must go beyond the classroom…

It must include global awareness.

Because what happens out there…
directly affects us here.

Here is the reality:

The world today runs on an energy mix— not just one source.

• Oil
• Gas
• Solar
• Wind
• Hydro

All working together.

Yes, energy transition is happening…
But it takes time, infrastructure, and serious investment.

Not overnight change.

This is why energy education matters.

So we don’t just follow trends…

The organizers of the NEXT ENERGY STARS – SCIENCE EDITION 2026 Ologedi Energisphere Solutions Ltd the social Enterprise of Ologed initiative proudly announce the successful completion of this year’s highly impactful innovation challenge.

This science edition brought together some of the brightest young minds across Nigeria into the Energy Stars Arena all driven by one mission to develop practical and innovative solutions to energy poverty.

What exactly is energy… and why should your child understand it? ⚡

Let’s make it real…

As a parent, think about your child for a moment.

They turn on the light…
They watch TV…
They hear the sound of the generator…

But do they truly understand what makes all of that possible?

Energy is not just electricity.
It is what powers their future.

In a country like Nigeria ,rich in oil, gas, and growing clean energy
our children are surrounded by energy…

Yet many of them don’t understand it.

And that should concern us.

Because the world is changing.

The future will belong to children who understand:
• how systems work
• how energy drives economies
• how to solve real problems

Not just children who pass exams.

At OLOGED Initiative, we believe energy education should start early
because the earlier a child understands the world,
the more confident they become in shaping it.

And it’s already happening…

You can see it in young students competing and asking deeper questions, in the Energy Stars Arena
standing confidently to speak,
and in spaces that challenge how they think about energy and their role in the future.

Something is shifting.
