**FROM ECONOMIC STABILITY TO SHARED PROSPERITY**

Nigeria’s economy is showing encouraging signs of recovery. Growth is projected to remain strong in 2026, while inflation has begun to moderate. Yet, the real measure of economic progress is not only found in statistics it is found in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The next phase must therefore be about turning economic reforms into tangible opportunities: stronger businesses, increased investment, more jobs, improved purchasing power and a revenue system that supports sustainable development.

For us as a people, the conversation must move beyond "Is the economy growing?" to “Are Nigerians feeling the impact of that growth?

This is where responsible leadership, innovation, technology driven revenue mobilization and strategic partnerships become critical.

A stronger economy is not simply one that grows it is one that creates value, expands opportunities and improves the quality of life of its people.

The journey continues. The focus must now be on inclusive growth and shared prosperity.

NACOFED 2026 was more than a gathering; it was a remarkable convergence of leaders, policymakers, technocrats, professionals and distinguished dignitaries from across Nigeria.

I am delighted to share some memorable moments captured with some of the distinguished personalities I had the privilege of meeting and interacting with during this landmark event.

Each conversation, handshake and photograph represents more than a moment it reflects the importance of building relationships, exchanging ideas and strengthening collaboration in the pursuit of better public finance and economic development.

I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Executive Governor of Imo State, for the vision, hospitality and leadership that made it possible for Imo State to host such a remarkable and historic event the first of its kind in the South-East of Nigeria.

This was a powerful statement about what Imo State can achieve when vision meets leadership, and leadership meets purposeful ex*****on.

From Owerri to the rest of Nigeria, NACOFED 2026 has created memories, strengthened partnerships and opened new opportunities for collaboration.

Thank you, Your Excellency, for giving Imo State the platform to host Nigeria and for putting our dear State on the national stage.

IIRS SENSITIZES TRADERS AT TIMBER AND ALLIED MARKET ON OCORA INITIATIVE

The Imo State Internal Revenue Service, IIRS, on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, engaged traders at the Timber and Allied Market, Owerri, on the One Community, One Revenue Agent (OCORA) Initiative.

Led by the Head of Presumptive Tax and Compliance, Mr. Ugo Okechukwu, the sensitization focused on tax compliance, government policies, and how OCORA will streamline business operations while improving revenue collection in Imo State.

Traders were encouraged to embrace the initiative to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable market development.

Mr. Okechukwu reaffirmed IIRS’ commitment to building a more efficient, digital, and business-friendly tax system in the state.

IIRS Commends Gov. Uzodimma as Imo Hosts NACOFED 2026

The Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service Mr. Justice Remigius Okoye (FCA) has commended the Imo State Government for hosting the 2026 NACOFED Retreat in Owerri.

He noted that the presence of the Minister of Finance, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, and other stakeholders presents a major opportunity for Imo and the South-East to deepen economic collaboration.

Mr. Okoye attributed Imo’s IGR growth to Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s policies, strategic planning, digitalization,and improved security, which have enabled wider taxpayer sensitisation across the state.

He highlighted IIRS’ digital transformation: e-assessments, online payments, instant receipts, and Utilizing the Revenue Management System for integrating vehicle documentation in the State. — all aimed at faster, more transparent service delivery.

While more work lies ahead, IIRS remains committed to expanding the tax base and strengthening compliance.

He thanked the Governor for building a secure and business-friendly Imo.

BEGINNING THE WEEK WITH PURPOSE, GRATITUDE & RENEWED DETERMINATION

We began the new week with a brief breakfast engagement with my management team, an opportunity to sincerely appreciate them for their warmth, support and the wonderful celebration that marked my second anniversary in office as Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service.

Beyond the celebration, the engagement provided an opportunity to refocus on the work ahead.

We reviewed some of the key initiatives of the administration of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, particularly the OCORA Initiative, and discussed strategic approaches to deepen its implementation, expand participation and ensure that its objectives continue to deliver meaningful benefits to Ndi Imo.

At the Imo State Internal Revenue Service, we remain committed to building on the progress already recorded in revenue growth, digitalisation, harmonisation and voluntary compliance. These achievements provide a strong foundation for even greater progress.

With a united team and a clear sense of purpose, we remain committed to supporting the State’s broader development agenda through efficient, transparent and sustainable revenue administration.

The work continues. The vision remains clear. The goal remains Shared Prosperity.

As I reflect on the celebration marking my two years in office as Executive Chairman of the Imo State Internal Revenue Service, my heart is filled with gratitude.

The heartfelt words, prayers, thoughtful gestures, and genuine expressions of goodwill from my management team and staff were deeply touching. I am truly humbled by such kindness.

Leadership is not merely about holding an office, making decisions, or pursuing targets. It is about inspiring people, earning trust, fostering a shared sense of purpose, and creating an environment where everyone can contribute meaningfully.

To be appreciated by the very people I work alongside each day is a privilege I do not take lightly. It is a reminder that the true strength of any institution lies in its people and in the unity of purpose that drives them.

I sincerely thank my management team and the entire IIRS family for making this anniversary so memorable. Your encouragement has renewed my commitment to continue serving with humility, integrity, fairness, and purpose as we work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Imo State.

It is a privilege to serve, and an even greater blessing to have the confidence, support, and goodwill of those with whom I serve.
