I warmly congratulate Professor Kingsley Ekweme and his team for spearheading the establishment of the first Integrated Robotics and Oncology Centre (IROC) in Imo State and the first state-government-backed (sub-national) robotic hospital center in Nigeria, situated at the Imo State Specialist Hospital, Umuguma, Owerri.

This is more than a medical facility; it is a new chapter in our collective desire of a healthcare system that is modern, accessible, technology-driven, and worthy of the people it serves.

By bringing robotics, advanced oncology care, specialised expertise, and modern medical technology closer to home, IROC holds enormous promise for patients and families who would otherwise have to travel far beyond Imo in search of specialised care. It represents hope where there was once uncertainty, and possibility where distance once stood as a barrier.

I equally commend His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Executive Governor of Imo State, for providing the infrastructure, public-private framework under his 3R agenda(Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Recovery), local capacity building and very importantly, healthcare integration and access into the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme to reduce out-of-pocket costs, making advanced robotic treatment accessible to local residents.

This is the kind of partnership between leadership, vision, expertise, and government support that produces enduring transformation. This is dividend of democracy at its very best.

As a legislator and advocate for a robust healthcare system for our people, I am particularly inspired and encouraged by this development. The future of healthcare in Imo must not merely be about treating illness; it must be about building institutions that bring world-class medicine within the reach of our people.

To Professor Ekweme, I say: thank you for daring to imagine beyond the ordinary and brought this landmark technology home.

To His Excellency, the Governor: thank you for attracting the idea and creating the space for it to become reality. Your 3R agenda is, indeed, serving our common desires.

May IROC become a beacon of medical excellence in Imo State, Nigeria, and beyond.

When vision meets opportunity, history is made.

Congratulations to the Government and people of Imo State!

Yesterday, in Toronto, Canada, I had the privilege of joining the Nigerian envoy to meet and address Nigerians resident in Canada at this year's Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference (NiDEC), organised by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

It was more than a conference. It was a gathering of Nigerians who, though thousands of kilometres away, remain deeply connected to home as proven by their investments, expertise, memories, and aspirations.

I had the honour of delivering a keynote address on the theme, โ€œThrive Abroad, Invest in Nigeria.โ€ I spoke from a conviction I hold firmly: the Nigerian diaspora is one of our nation's greatest untapped resources. From remittances and investments to healthcare, technology, education, entrepreneurship, and professional expertise, our compatriots abroad continue to contribute immensely to Nigeria's development. Yet, there is so much more we can achieve.

We must move from oration to implementation, from conversation to collaboration, and from remittances to investments. NiDEC must become a platform where ideas become policies, partnerships become investments, and investments become opportunities.

I commend Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON, and the NiDCOM team for building bridges between Nigerians abroad and their homeland. There is a Nigeria waiting to be built. Those at home cannot build it alone; neither can those abroad.

We must build Nigeria together.

Let us build bridges across oceans, not walls across memories.

Nigeria is home. And wherever a Nigerian succeeds, a part of Nigeria succeeds with them.

God bless the federal republic of Nigeria.

Today, I utterly align my thought with the UN theme for this year's International Youth Day: "Different Contexts. Common Aspirations." And, I join young people across Nigeria and around the world in celebrating International Youth Day, a day that reminds us that the future of every nation is not merely waiting somewhere ahead of us; it is already taking shape in the dreams, courage, creativity, and determination of its young people.

For us in Owerri Federal Constituency, this is more than a celebration.
It is a moment of reflection.
It is a moment to ask ourselves: What kind of future are we building for the young people who will inherit this great land from us?

I have always believed that youth empowerment must go beyond speeches, handshakes, paparazzi, and temporary relief. It must place real tools in the hands of young people; skills, education, technology, opportunities, and the confidence to create value for themselves and for society.

This conviction has informed our interventions in Owerri Federal Constituency. The numbers tell part of the story. 2,000 youths targeted for digital skills training and empowerment.
7 critical digital skills introduced to the pioneer cohort, including Artificial Intelligence, Web Development, Graphic Design, Content Creation, Content Marketing, Blockchain, and Virtual Assistance.

10 young people from the pioneer cohort received brand-new laptop computers after completing their training and emerging as the highest-performing participants.

1,297 WAEC and JAMB registrations sponsored across the 2024, 2025 and 2026 sessions, because sometimes, the difference between a young person dreaming and a young person becoming is simply the opportunity to sit for the examination.

Moreso, behind every number is a human story. Behind 2,000 is a young person discovering that his or her mind can compete in the digital economy.
Behind every laptop is a potential entrepreneur, programmer, designer, creator, freelancer, innovator or employer. Behind every sponsored examination is a child who has been told, in practical terms, โ€œYour future matters.โ€ That is the essence of empowerment. It is not merely giving a young person something. It is helping that young person discover something within themselves.

Our young people do not need pity. They need platforms. They do not need to be permanently carried. They need the tools with which they can stand. They do not need a society that merely celebrates their potential. They need a society courageous enough to invest in it. And, this is why I remain deeply committed to youth development.

The young person in Owerri today can work for a company thousands of kilometres away tomorrow, create a product for a global market, build an enterprise from a laptop, or solve a problem that generations before us could not solve. We must prepare them for that world. We must build a constituency where a young person's postcode does not determine the size of his or her dream.

On this International Youth Day, therefore, I celebrate every young person of Owerri Federal Constituency; the dreamers, the builders, the students, the entrepreneurs, the creatives, the farmers, the professionals, the artisans, the tech innovators, and the young men and women who wake up every day determined to make something meaningful out of their lives.

Your dreams are valid.
Your talents matter.
Your future is worth investing in. And, as long as there is an opportunity to serve, I shall continue to champion initiatives that equip our young people with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and opportunities required to compete, not merely within Owerri, not merely within Nigeria, but in the wider world.

The work has begun. The possibilities are enormous. And, the future is, indeed, brighter when we build it together.

Happy International Youth Day 2026 to the exceptional young people of Owerri Federal Constituency and to young people everywhere!

May your dreams find wings.
May your talents find platforms.
And, may your efforts find opportunities.
