A Burkina Faso'sπ§π« street named after a French leader De Gaulle has been renamed after Pan-Africanist Martyre Captain Thomas Sankara.
36th anniversary of the Γ€ssassΓ―nation of President Thomas SANKARA:
βπΎ Four major acts to pay tribute to the father of the revolution (Ouagadougou, October 15, 2023).
The President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE chaired this afternoon the commemorative ceremony of the assassination of President Thomas SANKARA and his 12 companions. In addition to the laying of wreaths, the event was marked by four major acts aimed at perpetuating the memory of Captain Thomas SANKARA.
βπΎThis involves the formalization of the elevation of Captain Thomas SANKARA to the dignity of Hero of the Nation, the institution of October 15 as a day of homage to Thomas SANKARA, the laying of the first stone of the mausoleum dedicated to him and the renaming of the former french leader Boulevard, Charles De Gaulle now Boulevard Capitaine Isidore NoΓ«l Thomas SANKARA.
βπΎFor the Minister of State, Minister of Civil Service, Labor and Social Protection, Bassolma BAZIE, this commemoration of October 15 is the result of the patience and self-sacrifice of the families of the 13 victims of October 15, 1987. βIt is not enough just to kill a person who carries the aspirations of a people. If you shoot the person down regardless of how he is treated, once the person has already taken up residence in the minds and hearts of valiant patriots, then this worthy son will live forever,β he said. -he indicates.
