Senate President Godswill Akpabio led the Principal Officers into the Chamber, took the official prayers and began the day's proceedings at 12:31am.

Votes and Proceedings of Thursday, 28th July, 2023 was approved.
MOTION
1. Urgent need to avert the impending strike of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) by Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman
Senate resolved to;
i. Mandate the Leadership of the Senate to interface between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Federal Government in other to avert the intending strike of the NLC.
MINISTERIAL SCREENING
Confirmation of Nominations
Confirmation of the following nominees for Appointment as Ministers of Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria;
Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele moved that the Senate do consider the request of Mr. President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the confirmation of the following nominees for Appointment as Ministers of Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in accordance with Section 147 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended):
1 Abubakar Momoh Edo State
2 HE, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Rivers State
3. Prof. Joseph Utsav Benue State
4. Sen. Abubakar Kyari Borno State
5 Sen. John Owan Eno Cross River State
6 Mr. Bello Muhammad G. Sokoto State
7 HE, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar Jigawa State
8 Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tukur Bauchi State
9 Sen. Abubakar Sani Danladi Taraba State
10 Barr. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye Anambra State
11 Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji Ojo Ondo State

Minority Leader, Senator Simon Davou Mwadkwon seconded.
Senate invoked Order 12(1) & 1 (a & b) to allow the Nominees of Mr. President C-in-C into the Chamber for confirmation as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Senate resolved into the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action.
The Senate suspended further screening at about 5:57 pm.
The Senate reverted to plenary to report progress.
The Senate in the Committee of the Whole considered the request of Mr. President on the screening of the Ministerial Nominees and deferred further screening to another Legislative day.
ADJOURNMENT
Senate adjourned Plenary to Tuesday, 1st August, 2023.
