‎DG NYSC REPRESENTATIVE, DIRECTOR CDS & SP, LAUDS CORPS MEMBER'S CDS PROJECT INITIATIVE

‎ The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General OO Nafiu, was represented by Mr.Dewan Stephen Gabriel, Director of Community Development Service and Special Projects (CDS & SP) Department, at the commissioning ceremony of a notable CDS project executed by Corps Member ABDULRAHEEM ALIYU OPEYEMI with State Code (FC/24C/1497), who is serving at the Planning Research and Statistics Department, NYSC Headquarters, Abuja.

‎The project, which comprised the provision of a multi-purpose printing/photocopy machine to the Reprographic Unit in the Library at NYSC Headquarters and the repositioning of library shelves, was highly commended by Mr. Dewan. He emphasized that the CDS is a major cardinal program of NYSC, aimed at fostering community development and national growth. Mr. Dewan urged other Corps Members to emulate Abdulraheem's initiative by undertaking similar projects in their host communities.

‎The Director of Planning Research and Statistics Department, in his welcome remarks, also appreciated the Corps Member for the impactful project and encouraged other Corps Members to follow suit.

‎The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Representative of the Director Corps Welfare and Health Services, Representative of NYSC FCT Coordinator, Deputy Director CDS Division, and the uncle of the Corps Member, among other senior NYSC staff and Corps Members.

‎COMPASSION IN ACTION: THE LIFE-CHANGING HIRD NYSC'S FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH TOUCHES LIVES IN DUTSE-PE

‎The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orchestrated a groundbreaking Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) free medical outreach, a two-day extravaganza that took place on May 19th-20th, 2025, at LEA Primary School, Dutse-Pe, Bwari Area Council, Abuja. This stellar initiative, spearheaded by the Community Development Service and Special Projects Department, Headquarters Abuja, aimed to provide vital medical services to the less privileged population.

‎The program kicked off with an inspiring introductory address delivered by Dr. Ahidjo Yahaya, Director of CDS and SP Department, who warmly welcomed attendees and highlighted the NYSC Director General's unwavering passion and commitment to serving humanity. Dr. Yahaya urged community members to cooperate for the program's success, emphasizing that the outreach would span two days.

‎The event was electrified by the NYSC National Troupe's captivating performance, followed by a vibrant display of cultural dancing by the community. Goodwill messages poured in from esteemed partners, including Genlab Integrated Service Ltd, Nigerian Center for Disease Control, National Blood Service Commission, and Onyebuchi Chris Ofediora (OCI) Foundation. These partners lauded NYSC for its visionary initiative and reaffirmed their dedication to collaborative efforts. Genlab brought its medical equipment and personnel to join the outreach, while the National Blood Service Commission contributed with Corp Medicals serving in the Commission to serve alongside their colleagues NYSC medical professionals.

‎The HIRD free medical outreach was ceremoniously flagged off by NYSC Director General Brig Gen OO Nafiu, represented by Alh. Ahmed Wada Ikaka PhD, Director Planning Research and Statistics (PRS). In his remarks, Alh. Ikaka underscored the significance of the outreach, citing that over 400,000 less privileged individuals have benefited from the program nationwide. He urged the community members to utilize the medication judiciously and assured them of adequate medical attention from Corps Medical professionals, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and paramedics throughout the two-day exercise.

‎The Director CDS and SP escorted the DG's representative on a tour of the pharmacy stand, inspecting the array of procured drugs and medical equipments. They also visited the NYSC mobile clinic, where lab tests and emergency medical services would be administered.

‎The event drew an impressive array of dignitaries, including the district head of Dutse-Pe, community head, NYSC directors, religious leaders, women, and youth group leaders. The outreach concluded on a triumphant note, achieving monumental success and touching countless lives.

‎HIRD SENSITIZATION EXERCISE: NYSC CDS/SP DEPARTMENT SETS THE STAGE FOR A GROUNDBREAKING EVENT
‎
‎The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Headquarters, through Community Development Service (CDS) and Special Projects (SP) Department, is spearheading a life-changing initiative, the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) program. Scheduled to take place from Monday, May 19 to Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Dutse Pe LEA Primary School, Bwari Area Council, Abuja, this program promises to bring comprehensive healthcare services to rural dwellers.
‎
‎The program will be flagged off by the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen OO Nafiu, marking the commencement of a medical outreach that will provide essential healthcare services to the community. The medical team, comprising Corps Medicals, will be coordinated by NYSC staff from the CDS and SP Department, with support from FCT NYSC staff under the leadership of the CDS and SP Department Director, Mr. Ahidjo Yahaya, PhD.

‎The preparatory sensitization exercise for the HIRD program was a resounding success, characterized by effective mobilization of Kubwa/Bwari LGIs and FCT CDS staff. The FCT Band CDS played a pivotal role in the exercise, contributing significantly to its success. The community head's support, provision of local guides, and the presence of security personnel ensured a smooth and safe ex*****on of the exercise. Refreshments courtesy of the FCT Coordinator were also greatly appreciated.

‎With the agenda successfully executed, anticipation is building for the main event on Monday, May 19, 2025. A large turnout is expected, and the NYSC CDS/SP Department is confident that the HIRD program will make a lasting impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, bringing hope and healthcare services to those who need it most.
