Orire Abduction: Oyo State NUT Declares Indefinite StrikeThe Nigeria Union of Teachers has declared an indefinite strike across Oyo State over the continued captivity of teachers and students abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

According to the union, all primary and secondary school teachers in the state are to withdraw their services from Monday, June 1, 2026.

PRESS STATEMENT

The general public is hereby urged to disregard the various results circulating on social media as the outcome of the nation wide primaries conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC on the 28th and 29th of May, 2026.

The results of the primaries are with the National Executive Council, NEC of our great party. They are solely responsible for announcements of results.

On the order of the National Leader of our party, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, a NEC meeting of the party has been called. Therefore, all members of NEC are to arrive at Abuja for a pre-NEC meeting on Tuesday, 2nd of June while the NEC meeting will be held on Wednesday, 3rd of June, 2026.

The general public and stakeholders will be availed of the results of our primaries when we send the list of candidates to fly our party's flag to the INEC

It was a profound honour to join fellow party members at the special affirmation ceremony of His Excellency, Peter Obi, as the Presidential Candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general elections.

I am particularly humbled and deeply honoured by my ratification as the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate.

I extend my sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Seriake Dickson, and all other leaders for this bold and visionary decision. The movement represents unity, peace, and progress, proving that Nigerians can work together regardless of their background. It is gradually breaking the barriers that have divided the nation for many years and replacing them with understanding, cooperation, and hope for a brighter future.

Today, I witnessed Obidients and Kwankwasiyya from different regions and religions celebrating Sallah and eating together in peace and harmony.
