The Billonare's Baby Mama
Episode 77
***********
Vera's POV
I watched from across the room, my arms crossed, chin slightly raised. The lighting was just right—soft enough to flatter and harsh enough to expose. Hailey stood there, frozen, surrounded by whispers and judging eyes, and I couldn't help the smile curling at the corner of my lips.
*Finally.*
Daniel’s voice boomed through the mic, trembling just enough to sound sincere. The fool was really giving it his all—his sob story about love, betrayal, and that ridiculous pregnancy scandal.
That ex of hers was doing exactly what we needed him to do. Pathetic as he was, he made a good puppet.
I sipped my wine, watching Hailey squirm under the weight of the room’s attention. Her head bowed, face pale.
I looked closely and could see her shoulders stiffen with every whispered insult that rippled through the crowd.
*Yes, Hailey... just break. Start crying. Show them who you really are.*
The lights swept across the crowd again, and I tilted my head with satisfaction. My plan was unfolding beautifully.
But then Hailey looked up. Just one glance.
My smile faltered.
That look—it was sharp, unwavering, and annoying.
*Why won’t she just give in already?*
My grip on the glass tightened. I forced my gaze back to Daniel, who was still milking the story on stage like his life depended on it—which, to be fair, it kind of did.
Everything was going perfectly. Until—
*Clap. Clap. Clap.*
The sound was slow and deliberate. My eyes snapped toward the stage.
And there he was.
*Liam.*
My stomach dropped.
*No. No no no—what is he doing here?*
I turned sharply to Bianca and Juliet. Their expressions were just like mine—shock, confusion...filled with dread.
This wasn’t part of the plan.
In my living room. Dim light. Juliet and Bianca perched on the couch while Daniel paced nervously.
“So, do we all understand our parts?” I asked with my legs crossed and fingers tapping against the wine glass.
Daniel raised his hand like a student. “What if Liam defends her? You know how close they were. Everything will blow up in our faces.”
Bianca looked uneasy. Juliet chewed her lip.
But I just smiled—a slow, cruel, and confident one.
“There’s no need to worry about Liam,” I said. “I’ll take care of that.”
But from the look of things now.
*I didn’t.*
My fingers clenched around the stem of the glass. Liam was walking toward Daniel, smooth, collected. That infuriating calm he always wore when he was about to ruin someone.
“Boss—I mean Mr. Liam,” Daniel stammered.
Liam raised a hand. “You’re right, Daniel. About everything.”
Gasps and whispers filled the air again.
I raised an eyebrow.
Okay. Now I wasn't expecting that. Did Liam just talk ill of Hailey.
For some strange reason my heart leapt.
He really said it. I could’ve laughed. Finally, some luck.
“She’s a fool,” he added, his voice so casual, I nearly toasted him right there. I turned to find Hailey. She looked… stunned. Good.
But then he kept talking.
“She’s the biggest fool I’ve ever met.”
I smirked.
Maybe he never truly loved her. I knew it...he was just doing all that because I hurt him before.
I sighed, a breath of relief escaped my lips. I stood up gently...I just want to hug him right now.
* Goodbye Hailey...*
I was already thinking of my victory steps to reclaim what's mine when my thoughts got cut off by the next sentence.
“just like I said earlier, everything you said about Hailey was right…except for one thing.”
He turned to Daniel. His smile faded.
“Hailey never seduced me.”
There was a slight pause.
I raised an eyebrow
" What is he..."
“I did.” he dropped the bombshell.
And just like that, the entire room shifted.
No one breathed. No one moved. Even Daniel looked like someone had slapped him.
I blinked. My stomach tightened.
*No. No no no—*
Hailey looked up, her eyes were glassy.
He was looking at her.
And all I could think was—
*I lost him. Again.*
*************
Hailey's POV I stood frozen.
“She never seduced me… I did,” Liam said, his voice steady, firm.
My breath hitched.
He meant it.
For a moment, he held that serious look, then… he smiled. Not the cocky smirk i was used to.
“You know…” he started again, and his voice filled the silent room. “I thought I had everything—wealth, a name, a company… But I realized I was still missing something. Something rare. Something more valuable than all of that combined.”
His eyes didn’t leave mine. I felt bare under that gaze, like he was speaking right through me.
“I wouldn’t have known what that was if I hadn’t met this fool.”
People turned their heads, confused.
He chuckled lightly. “Yes. A fool.”
My chest tightened.
“A fool who loves with her whole heart. Who gives everything, even when she’s running on empty. A fool who would carry the weight of the world on her tiny shoulders just to keep someone else from falling.”
He paused. The room stayed quiet.
“A fool who still smiles when she’s hurting, just to keep you from feeling bad… Who still chooses to love you when she should’ve walked away.”
Tears blurred my vision.
“I fell in love with this fool.”
And just like that, the dam broke. I didn’t care anymore. The tears I’d been holding in slipped down my cheeks, warm and silent. His words weren’t loud, but they carried weight. Truth.
Liam turned to face the crowd now. “She never seduced me. I chased her. I used her at first. I hurt her more times than I can count. But no matter what I did… she stayed.”
He looked down, almost ashamed. “I’m the reason for everything. Not her.”
Silence.
Then, he looked up again.
“And there’s something else you all need to know tonight,” he said.
My heart stilled.
“Hailey isn’t my mistress. She’s not some random girl carrying my child. She is my lawfully wedded wife.”
Gasps echoed across the room.
“What?!”
“No way—”
“When?!”
People whispered, some looked straight at me like they’d seen a ghost.
Claire gently squeezed my hand. I looked at her, and she gave me the softest smile. A silent *I told you so*.
“It was my fault,” Liam said, “for keeping the wedding private. But no more hiding.”
He glanced back at me again.
“We’re married. And yes—we’re having a baby.”
The room buzzed with disbelief, but he wasn’t done.
He stepped forward, his voice deeper now. “And to the press—or anyone else—if I see one article, post, or comment slandering my wife again…” He paused. “You’ll be sued. And trust me… you don’t want to deal with my lawyers.”
Silence.
I saw the press guy dropped his pen immediately, adjusting his collar like his neck was on fire.
Then—clap. One person. Then two. Then the whole room.
Applause filled the hall like a wave crashing down.
Liam turned back to the stage, his expression now cool and dangerous. Daniel was trembling.
“And you…” he said, stepping toward him. “How dare you stand here and slander my wife.”
Daniel dropped to his knees. “Mr. Liam—please. I was drunk, I didn’t mean—please, forgive me!”
Liam didn’t flinch.
“Security. Take this trash out of my sight.”
Immediately, two guards appeared and grabbed Daniel by both arms.
“Wait! Please! Mr. Liam, I—!”
They dragged him away as he pleaded.
Then more security moved toward Bianca and Juliet.
“Come with us,” one said.
Bianca scoffed. “Excuse me? We’re important guests! You can’t touch us!”
“Please don’t make this harder, ma’am,” the guard said, firm but respectful.
“Let go of me, you son of a—!” Bianca yelled, yanking her arm back. She turned to Vera in a panic. “Miss Vera! Tell them! We came with you!”
All eyes shifted to Vera.
She took a slow sip of her drink… then turned her head away.
Didn’t even blink.
Juliet’s jaw dropped. Bianca froze.
“Come with us,” the guards said again, and this time, they didn’t wait for a reply.
They were dragged out. Just like that.
And me?
I was almost breaking down. I ran out of the room immediately. But the next second I heard hurried steps behind me.
" Hailey!... Hailey wait!"
I ran outside and held a nearby wall with one hand while I covered my mouth with the other.
Only muffed sounds were heard, but my body shook with every sob. I didn't know why I was crying.
Was it happiness, sadness, anger? Everything just became too much and I did the only thing I could think of.
Cry.
" Hailey..."
Liam's gentle voice called from behind but I didn't look back.
" I'm sorry, I know I've been apologizing alot but still end up hurting you even more"
" But I still have to say it, I'm really sorry Hailey. I'm sorry for..."
" I thought I could handle it" I cut him off.
" Huh?"
I turned around to face him slowly.
And when my eyes met his , all I could see was pure love. But why does it have to hurt this bad. I smiled despite the pains in my heart.
" I thought I could handle everything if I put all the blame on me" I said, my voice cracking. " But I couldn't...I couldn't Liam, it hurts so much...I don't want this" I said shaking my head.
He nodded and came closer, till he was just few inches in front of me. He held my shoulder and wiped my check with his right thumb.
He smiled a little.
" Silly girl, why carry a burden that isn't yours. Hailey...give me a chance to share everything with you. Your happiness, sadness, anger, everything." He said almost in a whisper.
Just a slight touch of his on my face and I could feel my body tremble. I feel so helpless but at the same time safe... When I'm with him.
He came even closer.
" From now on, I'll make sure...I put smile on your face. I love you Hailey... I love you so much" he whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine.
Then he placed his lips on my forehead, then my nose and check. I shut my eyes and let him do his thing. His colnge alone had taken over my senses.
" I have something to show you" he whispered and I opened my eyes again.
" What's that?" I asked softly.
He smiled.

Author's POV
Across the road, inside a black car with tinted windows, two men sat quietly. The younger one leaned forward slightly, his eyes locked on the pair just outside the party hall — Liam and Hailey.
They stood close, their laughter soft between them. Hailey’s hand rested lightly on her stomach, and Liam looked at her like the rest of the world didn’t exist.
“She looks happy,” the younger man said, his voice low, strained and carrying a hint of sadness. “He doesn’t deserve her.” he said.
The older man beside him shifted, casting a glance his way before looking back at the couple. “You had your chance,” he said, not unkindly. “But you hesitated. It’s too late now. You can't have her”
The younger man exhaled sharply, looking away. His jaw tightened. “I know,” he muttered. “And I regret it… every single day.” his hands clenched into tight fits.
The older man was quiet for a moment, then nodded slightly toward the side of the hall. “Seems like you’re not the only one regretting.”
The younger man followed his gaze —
Just beyond the decorative plants, half hidden behind one of the stone pillars, stood Vera.
Her eyes were red, tears streaming freely down her cheeks. One trembling hand covered her mouth, while the other gripped the pillar so tightly her knuckles had gone pale. Her makeup was ruined, but she didn’t seem to care. Her gaze never left Liam.
She looked broken.
The kind of broken that no apology could fix.
The younger man swallowed hard.
No one said anything for a long while. The quiet was heavier than words.
