Dear fellow citizens,
As we stand together at this critical juncture in our nation's history, I want to remind you that democracy is not just a system of government - it's a way of life. It's a promise that we make to each other, a commitment to uphold the values of freedom, equality, and justice.
Democracy is the foundation upon which our nation is built. It's the framework that allows us to come together, share our ideas, and work towards a common goal. It's the glue that holds us together, even in the face of adversity.
But democracy is not a spectator sport. It requires active participation, engagement, and dedication from each and every one of us. It demands that we stay informed, think critically, and hold our leaders accountable.
As citizens, we have a sacred responsibility to defend our democracy against all threats, both foreign and domestic. We must protect the integrity of our elections, the independence of our judiciary, and the freedom of our press.
We must also recognize that democracy is not a destination - it's a journey. It's a continuous process of improvement, adaptation, and growth. It requires us to listen to each other's perspectives, to embrace our diversity, and to find common ground.
So let us recommit ourselves to the principles of democracy. Let us celebrate our differences and foster a culture of inclusivity. Let us build a system that truly represents the will of the people, where every voice is heard and every vote counts.
Together, let us create a brighter future for ourselves and for future generations. A future where democracy is not just a word, but a way of life.
Happy Democracy Day!
Sincerely, RT. Hon Ezekiel Adaji [FMHR]
