SENATOR I. D. GYANG MOURNS THE DEMISE OF RT. HON. PETER ATANG AZI.

It is with deep sorrow that I received the sad news of the passing of a towering and amiable political leader,
Rt. Hon. Peter Ajang Azi, former Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Azi was a consummate politician and a true bridge builder whose leadership, humility, and commitment to the cause of the people and public service left an enduring mark on Plateau State. As Speaker, he steered the legislature with dedication and a deep sense of responsibility.

Beyond the corridors of power, he remained an inspiring leader, a unifying figure who worked tirelessly to promote peace, dialogue, and understanding across divides.

His life of passion for service to the people, and quiet strength will continue to inspire many and endure as a legacy in his memory.

I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Azi Ajang family, Izere nation, the people of Jos North West whom he gallantly represented, and the entire Plateau State.

May the Lord grant his soul eternal rest, amen.

Today, I join Nigerians across the country and diaspora in celebrating an amiable and phenomenal leader, His Excellency, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on the occasion of his 58th birthday anniversary.

At 58, you stand at a defining point in a life distinguished by intellectual depth, public service, leadership, resilience, and an enduring commitment to nation-building.

Your journey from the classroom and the world of scholarship to the demanding arena of public leadership is a testimony to the fact that knowledge, character, and service can combine to produce consequential leadership.

As National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), you have been entrusted with a responsibility of enormous national significance. As a fellow son of Plateau, your elevation to the national leadership is a source of immense pride to our people. Your emergence has further demonstrated that Plateau men and women can rise to the highest levels of national responsibility and distinguish themselves with competence and dignity.

A special colloquium in honour of the 58th birthday of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, was held on Thursday, 6th August 2026, at Crispan Hotel, Jos.

The event, themed "Catalysing Nigeria's Journey to a $1 Trillion Economy," featured Prof. Dung Pam Sha as the keynote speaker and attracted an array of distinguished Nigerians from across the country.

Today, I join family, friends, and well-wishers to celebrate an elder-statesman and father, Da Senator Jonah David Jang, as he marks his 80th birthday anniversary and public presentation of his autobiography entitled, "My Life"

Baba Jang’s life has been defined by courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to nation building, with particular reference to Plateau State.

From his distinguished career in the Nigerian Air Force to his years of impactful and result laden public service as Governor of Plateau State and Senator of the Federal Republic, he has remained exemplary and a statesman leader of indelible and undeniable impact.

At 80, we celebrate not only the years but the enduring legacy of a father whose service remains a landmark and trademark of excellence and developmental leadership in Plateau State and beyond.

HRH, Da Nga Dangyang, Dagwom Rwey Jos South.

The demise of HRH, Da Nga Dangyang, the Dagwom Rwey of Jos South and monarch of Gyel District, a renown royal father in Berom land and the longest-serving monarch in Northern Nigeria, is no doubt a historic and glorious transition to eternity.

HRH Da Nga Dangyang ascended the throne in 1959 and his reign of over six decades was marked by wisdom, peace-building, cultural stewardship, and commitment to the development and unity of Gyel District, Jos South local government, and the wider Berom community and Plateau State.

We honour his remarkable legacy of exemplary leadership characterised by dignity, sincerity, and honesty. His elevation and long years on the throne stand as an enduring testament.

My condolences to the Gbong Gwom Jos His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CON, the Jos Joint Traditional Council,
the immediate Royal Household, the people of Gyel, and the entire Berom nation.

May the memory of HRH Da Nga Dangyang, who enjoyed longevity, continue to inspire unity, peace, and progress in the land.

Senator I. D. Gyang and family hold mother's one year anniversary thanksgiving.

One year has passed since Ngwo Yop Dung Gyang, beloved mother of Senator I. D. Gyang was called home to be with the Lord.

Today, I. D. Gyang and the family were at COCIN Bethel Rawuru Fan for an anniversary Thanksgiving Service in her honour.

Senator Gyang testified that his mother was a woman of quiet strength and deep devotion. She carried herself with dignity, spoke with wisdom, and loved with a steady, unfailing heart.

He spoke further on the value of hard work, the beauty of kindness, and the necessity of trusting God in every season among the many good traits he imbibed from her..

Though her face can't be seen nor her voice heard, her influence remains.
The values she planted in us continue to bear fruit. The lessons she taught still guide our steps. The love she gave still warms our hearts.

We give thanks that grandma has entered into the rest prepared for the people of God.

Today and always, we celebrate her memory.
