Senator Orji Kalu Urges Patience With Tinubu’s Reforms, Preaches Unity, Production Economy In Salah Message

Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of the ongoing economic reforms introduced by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the measures, though painful, are necessary for the country’s long-term stability, economic growth and overall prosperity of the nation ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Kalu made the call in his Salah message to Muslim faithful and Nigerians at large on Tuesday.

The former Senate Chief Whip urged citizens not to lose faith in the country, stressing that patience, unity and collective sacrifice were necessary to reposition the nation’s economy.

According to him, the current reforms being implemented by the Federal Government are aimed at laying a strong foundation for a better and more prosperous Nigeria.

“The reforms may be painful today, but they are for good reasons and in the overall interest of Nigerians. I appeal to citizens to remain patient and supportive of the government as efforts are being made to rebuild the economy and secure a better future for all,” he said.

Kalu also used the occasion to preach peace, national unity and religious tolerance, urging Nigerians to avoid divisive tendencies capable of threatening the country’s stability.

He noted that Nigeria’s economic future depends largely on productive investments, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment, adding that the country must gradually shift from excessive consumption to production.

“We must encourage investment, local production and entrepreneurship. A production-driven economy will create jobs for our youths, strengthen local industries and reduce overdependence on imports,” the senator stated.

He further urged young Nigerians to embrace innovation, skills acquisition and enterprise development as pathways to self-reliance and national growth.

The senator congratulated Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and prayed for lasting peace, security and economic prosperity across the country.

Kalu expressed optimism that with unity, resilience and shared sacrifice, Nigeria would overcome its current economic challenges and emerge stronger.

*More Jobs For The Youths; Sustained Growth And Opportunity Continue With OUK*

By Emenike Okorie

The future of every society depends largely on how much attention is given to the youths. When young people are empowered through employment opportunities, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support and human capital development, the society experiences peace, stability and sustainable economic growth.

In Bende Federal Constituency and Abia State at large, many youths continue to yearn for opportunities that will help them realize their dreams and contribute meaningfully to society. This is why the continuous empowerment programmes and youth-centered initiatives associated with Orji Uzor Kalu remain commendable and worthy of recognition.

Over the years, OUK has consistently demonstrated commitment towards creating opportunities for young people through education support, business empowerment, scholarships, employment facilitation and infrastructural development capable of stimulating economic activities. These interventions have helped many families survive difficult economic realities while giving hope to countless young men and women across Abia North.

Today, many youths who once struggled without direction are gradually finding their feet through opportunities made possible by these empowerment efforts. Small businesses are being supported, young entrepreneurs are gaining encouragement, while several graduates and artisans continue to benefit from programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing unemployment.

At a time when unemployment remains one of the greatest challenges facing Nigeria, leaders who prioritize youth development deserve encouragement. Sustainable growth can only be achieved when the youths are productively engaged and empowered to become contributors to national development instead of being abandoned to hopelessness.

The vision for a better society must include continuous investment in human capacity, education, technology, agriculture and enterprise development. Young people possess enormous talents and energy which, when properly harnessed, can transform communities and drive economic prosperity.

As the people continue to evaluate leadership and representation, it becomes increasingly important to support initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens, especially the youths who represent the strength and future of the nation.

Indeed, more jobs, more empowerment, sustained growth and greater opportunities for the youths remain possible when leadership is focused on people-oriented development. The journey towards economic progress and social stability continues when leaders deliberately create pathways for young people to succeed.

For many beneficiaries and observers alike, the message remains clear: hope, opportunity and development continue where the welfare of the people remains the priority.

Aftermath APC Primaries, Kalu Prays For Peace, Unity On Pentecost

By Dr. Violet Akifagbowo

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is stepping up his political moves ahead of the next elections, using recent events in Abia North to back President Bola Tinubu and celebrate his own win in the APC senatorial primary.

The former Abia governor, who now represents Abia North in the Senate, joined thousands of APC members in Igbere Ward A for the party’s presidential primary. Supporters said the gathering was peaceful and lively, with more than 2,000 people turning out to endorse Tinubu’s re-election bid.

After the exercise, Kalu said the crowd showed that people still have confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the APC’s direction. He argued that the turnout reflected growing trust in the president and the “Renewed Hope” agenda.

According to him, the overwhelming support from his ward proves that many Nigerians want continuity and stability. He added that the APC is focused on holding its ground in Abia and expanding its influence across the South-East and beyond.

Kalu also noted that Tinubu got the highest votes in the ward during the primary. Party leaders, he said, are already working to build on that momentum for future elections.

Political observers say Kalu’s public backing of Tinubu is part of a wider push by APC leaders to win more support in the South-East, a region where the party has struggled against stronger rivals.

At the same time, Kalu has been receiving congratulations for winning the APC senatorial primary in Abia North. One message came from Olufemi Adegbulugbe, a Nigerian based in Alberta, Canada. He said he isn’t from Abia and isn’t an APC member, but believes national interest should come before party loyalty.

Adegbulugbe argued that senators make laws that affect every Nigerian, so their work should be judged on national impact, not just local politics. He said he has followed Kalu’s time in the Senate and believes he has shown experience and capacity. He also mentioned other lawmakers in the 10th National Assembly who he thinks are doing well.

The figures from the primary show Kalu won by a wide margin. He secured 65,651 votes, about 96.7 percent of the total, across the 57 wards in Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia and Umunneochi.

Adegbulugbe said the result shows that APC members in the district want continuity, experience and competence. He added that the win matters not just for Abia North but could shape politics in the South-East and Nigeria as a whole.

He described the primary as a step that could open more opportunities for Kalu and the region. He also praised other contestants, including Professor Philip Nto, for taking part in what he called a democratic process.

People who watch Abia politics say Kalu’s hold on the APC structure in Abia North shows his influence hasn’t faded since he left office as governor in 2007. Allies point to his background in governance, business and national politics as reasons he remains relevant. Critics say the South-East is still competitive, with other parties fighting hard for control.

Kalu’s recent activities suggest he isn’t stepping back. He seems set on staying visible both in the APC and in national politics.

Alongside the politics, Kalu also sent a message to Christians during Pentecost. He prayed for peace, unity and love, and said the celebration should remind Nigerians to work together for a stable and prosperous country. He expressed hope that the meaning of Pentecost would push citizens to commit to service and national development.

For APC supporters in Abia North, Kalu’s recent wins and statements look like the start of a stronger push in the South-East. Whether the party can make real gains there is still unclear, but its leaders appear determined to build more alliances and strengthen their presence.

*APC Presidential Primary: Massive, Igbere Turnout Signals Tinubu’s Growing Grip Ahead of 2027*

By Emenike Okorie

The atmosphere in Senator Orji Uzor Kalu's Igbere Ward A was nothing short of electrifying as over 2,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered in a carnival-like but peaceful setting to participate in the party’s Presidential Primary in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The exercise, conducted in line with the constitution of the ruling party, witnessed an overwhelming turnout that many political observers have described as a clear demonstration of grassroots solidarity, party loyalty, and renewed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership.

From chants of support to coordinated mobilization across the ward, the event reflected a growing determination among party faithful to consolidate the “Renewed Hope” agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The resounding endorsement of President Tinubu by party members in Igbere Ward A, where he reportedly secured the maximum votes, sends a strong political message not only within Abia State but across the South-East region.

For many within the APC fold, the development is being interpreted as proof that the President continues to enjoy firm backing from the grassroots despite mounting political realignments across the country.

Political stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the momentum generated from the primary would translate into broader electoral victories for the APC in the coming general elections.

As the 2027 political landscape gradually takes shape, today’s massive turnout in Igbere appears to have reinforced one key message: the Renewed Hope train is still very much on the move — and gathering strength.

Breaking!!! APC Presidential primaries: Senator Orji Kalu leads Over 4,000 APC Members for Tinubu at Igbere Ward

From Kenneth Udeh, Umuahia

The lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District and former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Saturday led over 4,000 registered card carrying members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his Igbere Ward A, Bende North Local Government Area of Abia State, to participate in the party’s presidential primary election in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The nationwide presidential primary, held across the 8,809 wards in the country, is part of the APC’s process to nominate its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election through the direct primary system adopted by the party’s national leadership.

The APC primary elections were conducted in phases, beginning with the House of Representatives primaries on May 15, later shifted to May 16, followed by the Senate primaries on May 18, State House of Assembly primaries on May 20, governorship primaries on May 21, while the presidential primary held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

At the exercise in Igbere Ward A, Senator Kalu, dressed in white traditional attire with his signature red cap, arrived to a jubilant crowd of party faithful.

Holding a banner bearing the image of President Tinubu, the former Senate Chief Whip stood on the queue alongside party members who turned out in large numbers for the exercise.

The ward’s Returning Officer, Mr. Ulu Onwuchekwa, while announcing the outcome of the primary, declared President Tinubu winner of the exercise after securing 4,986 votes. According to him, the ward has over 5,000 registered APC members.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Senator Kalu, who currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), described the turnout as a clear indication of the support President Tinubu enjoys among party members.

“You can see the massive turnout of the people to vote for His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in this primary. It means the election is almost settled because our party has close to 5,000 registered members in this ward alone.

This is Igbere A, and there is also Igbere B. You can see the enthusiasm of our people, and we are very satisfied with their response. We will continue to mobilize and work harder ahead of the general election,” Kalu stated.

The ruling APC had earlier unveiled detailed guidelines and committees for the conduct of the presidential primary election, adopting a direct primary model that allows all registered members nationwide to participate in the process.

Results from each ward are expected to be collated at the local government level by officers jointly appointed by the State Coordinators and the National Working Committee (NWC), before final aggregation at the national level in Abuja.

To oversee the process, the APC constituted a seven-member Presidential Primary Election Committee headed by former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim. Other members of the committee include Ken Nnamani, Victor Udo Udoma, Otunba Grace T**i Laoye-Ponle, Rev. Jolly Nyame, Idris Wada, while Mr. Sanusi Musa serves as Secretary.

The party also constituted a Presidential Primary Election Appeal Committee chaired by former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, with Samuel Piwuna as Secretary and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, as member.

Meanwhile, Senator Kalu, who is seeking re-election into the Senate, recently emerged victorious in the APC senatorial primary election conducted across the five local government areas and 57 wards of Abia North Senatorial District.

The direct primary election recorded massive participation by party members and ended in a landslide victory for the former Senate Chief Whip, who polled 65,651 votes to defeat his rival, Philip Nto, who secured 2,103 votes.

In line with the constitution of our great party, I proudly joined over 2,000 committed members this morning in a carnival-like yet peaceful atmosphere to stand and be counted for the re-election of our dear President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during today’s Presidential Primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The massive turnout in Igbere Ward A is a loud statement of confidence, loyalty, and belief in the continuity of President Tinubu’s leadership.

The people have spoken clearly, and the message is unmistakable.

I am delighted that our President secured the maximum votes in our ward, and we are fully prepared to consolidate on this momentum ahead of the general elections not just in Abia State, but across the entire South-East and Nigeria at large.

The Renewed Hope train is moving stronger than ever.

The most valuable math you can ever learn is not the one done on paper alone, but the one that helps you measure the consequences of your choices. Life itself is a continuous equation where every decision we make today adds up to become our reality tomorrow.

Many people focus only on the immediate pleasure, comfort, or convenience of their actions without taking time to calculate the future cost attached to them. A few minutes of anger can destroy years of friendship. A moment of carelessness can damage a lifetime opportunity. Laziness today can produce regret tomorrow, while discipline today can create freedom in the future.

The truth is, every season of life is connected. Your future finances are connected to your spending habits today. Your future health is connected to your daily lifestyle. Your future peace is connected to the people you allow around you now. Your future greatness is connected to the sacrifices you are willing to make today.

Life rewards those who think beyond the moment. Temporary satisfaction often produces permanent pain, while temporary discipline often produces lasting success.

So before making decisions, learn to calculate carefully. Not just the same immediate gain, but the long-term outcome. Because one of the greatest forms of wisdom is understanding that today’s choices are tomorrow’s reality.

Congratulations to a Nationalist, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu

Re: APC Abia North Senatorial District Primaries.

I am not from Abia State and
I am not a member of APC and Nigeria is my political party.

A Senator not only represents his senatorial district but also represents all Nigerians because the decisions made by Senators in the Upper Legislative assembly affects all Nigerians.

I know Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. I have seen the good fruits of current Senator representing Bauchi Central. I have also seen the good fruits of the Senator representing Bayelsa West in the 10th assembly.

It is on this note that I extend sincere congratulations to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on his tectonic plate victory in the recently concluded APC primaries for Abia North Senatorial district. Senator OUK polled 65651 votes representing 96.7% of total votes cast.

The APC voters from 57 wards across the five Local Government Areas of Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwuato, Ohafia, and Umunneochi have spoken in a loud and clear voice that acknowledges experience, competence, capacity, and continuity.

The APC community of Abia North Senatorial district have taken a small step by their vote of confidence in Senator OUK but this small step will lead to a giant leap for the people of Abia State, the South East region and Nigeria in general.

I would also like to thank and appreciate Professor Philip Nto for his participation and contributions to a democratic exercise.

The APC Abia North Senate primaries has come and gone and it has ended in praise.
It is a strategic first step to greater things to come insha Allah and more work to be done.

I remain committed to creating global opportunities for the youths and people of Abia North through education, training and international exposure.

Beneficiaries including Hamuel Chukwu (Bende), Felix Olunkwa (Isikwuato), and Ekeoma Ogwo (Bende) are currently participating in international training programmes in China.

This is in addition to several Abia North youths pursuing Doctoral and Master’s degrees through different international scholarship platforms, while dozens of others are studying Medicine and Surgery in South America through opportunities I facilitated.

Human capital development remains the foundation for sustainable growth and development.

Keep Hope Alive!
