Dr. Kassim Intervenes in School Encroachment, Visits TPD Training in Lafia

The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muh'd Kassim, intervened in an attempted encroachment at Saint Williams Nursery and Primary School in Lafia, stopping unknown persons from taking over part of the school premises.

Following the intervention, Dr. Kassim proceeded to Isiaka Islamiya Primary School, where he visited the venue of a 5-day Teacher Professional Development (TPD) training for Best Model Teachers and Head Teachers. The training, organized by SUBEB in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) Abuja, aims to enhance teacher capacity and improve education quality in Nasarawa State.

**Akwanga, Nigeria – May 30, 2025** – Engr. Tony Bala Shammah TBS, CEO of TBS Foundation, has made a remarkable impact on healthcare accessibility by officially enrolling 400 individuals in the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, targeting the less privileged in the Akwanga, Wamba, and Nassarawa Eggon local government areas. This significant enrollment event took place today at Gaji Luxury Hotel, Akwanga township, featuring the presence of Dr. Samuel, the Executive Secretary of NASHIA.

The enrollment is a testament to the TBS Foundation’s commitment to expanding health insurance coverage, particularly in rural areas and among vulnerable populations, including widows and orphans. Engr. Tony Bala Shammah emphasized the importance of encouraging these groups to take advantage of the benefits provided by the scheme.

During the ceremony, Chief Anthony Yamusa, representing His Royal Highness Chun Mada Pastor Samson Gamu Yare, praised Engr. Among the significant innovations introduced at the event was the presentation of a vehicle to Engr. Tony Bala Shammah by an organization expressing solidarity with the foundation’s mission. The TBS Foundation has revised its operational guidelines to ensure broader outreach and has established an equity fund designed to assist vulnerable groups.

Engr. Bala Shammah reported a staggering 160% increase in enrollment numbers, rising from 350 to 100,000 individuals, a clear indication of the growing public confidence in the initiative.

**ALGON Chairman Safiyanu Praises Sultan Foundation's Polio Campaign Initiative in Akwanga**

AKWANGA, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA – May 27, 2025 – The Chairman of the Akwanga Local Government Area (ALGON), Safiyanu, today commended the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development for its effective polio campaign in Akwanga. The commendation came during a one-day dissemination workshop organized by the Sultan Foundation in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA).

The workshop, held at the Akwanga Local Government Secretariat, targeted traditional councils and primary healthcare personnel. It focused on improving the effectiveness of polio immunization efforts. The new approach emphasizes direct community engagement in participant selection, ensuring representation from all villages and communities.

Chairman Safiyanu highlighted the foundation's positive impact on the lives of underprivileged individuals through improved healthcare access and polio immunization. He specifically praised the partnership between the Sultan Foundation and NAPHDA for its success in new criteria for selection during the program and actively involving traditional institutions.

Zainab Ibrahim Isah, Sultan Foundation Desk Officer, and Evelyn Anthony Ajewa, UNICEF representative, both emphasized the importance of the new community-based participant selection process. They detailed the roles of traditional leaders, the local government area team, and other stakeholders in ensuring the campaign's success.

His Royal Highness Chun Mada Pastor Samson Gamu also lauded the collaborative efforts of the Foundation and NAPHDA in addressing the needs of Akwanga's less privileged population and their prompt response to challenges within the program.
