As we step into the first day of August 2026, I bring you warm greetings filled with hope, strength, and renewed determination.

A new month is not just a change in the calendar; it is a fresh opportunity to dream bigger, to work harder, and to believe more strongly in the greatness of our land and people. Together, we have shown resilience, unity, and an unshakable spirit. These values will continue to guide us as we strive for progress in education, infrastructure, healthcare, and empowerment for all.

This month reminds us that every seed of hard work, every prayer of faith, and every sacrifice of love will surely yield fruit in due time. As farmers look forward to their harvest, so too must we look forward with hope to the blessings and breakthroughs that await us.

Today, you continue to redefine leadership through authenticity and consistency, championing preventive healthcare, nutrition, and sustainable living with your Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative.

I had the opportunity to interact with members of the Aguata community resident in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during my visit to the state for an official event.

Having informed the leadership of the Aguata Union in Bayelsa State of my presence in Yenagoa, members of the association paid me a courtesy visit at the hotel where I was staying. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Union, Mr. Ugochukwu Ezenwaka from Achina; the Vice Chairman, Mr. Chinonso Ezeokoye from Isuofia; and the Patron, Chief Marius Ezeanowai from Ikenga, alongside other members of the association.

I was delighted by the warmth and solidarity with which Aguata indigenes in Bayelsa received me. Our interaction provided an opportunity to reconnect with our brothers and sisters who are living, working and doing business outside Aguata, while also discussing ways to strengthen the bonds of unity and collective identity among our people.

I charged the leadership of the association to intensify efforts towards reaching out to all Aguata indigenes resident in Bayelsa State and encouraging them to identify with the Union. I emphasised that our strength as a people lies in our unity, our shared identity and our commitment to supporting one another, wherever we may find ourselves.

The Chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Ezenwaka, informed me that the Union had acquired a parcel of land for the development of its permanent meeting place. He appealed for my support towards the development of the structure, which, when completed, will serve as a permanent centre for the association’s meetings, engagements and activities in Bayelsa State.

I commend the leadership and members of the Aguata Union in Bayelsa State for their commitment to fostering unity among Aguata indigenes and for keeping alive the spirit of community, even far away from home.

I remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote the unity, welfare and collective progress of Aguata people wherever they reside.

I attended the 2026 Stakeholders’ Retreat organised by the House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Other Ancillary Institutions , in collaboration with the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) ,held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The three-day retreat, which held from Saturday, July 25 to Monday, July 27, 2026 ,was centred on the theme: “Balancing Recovery, Accountability and Economic Growth: The Future of AMCON in Nigeria’s Financial System.”

The retreat provided an important platform for legislators, financial sector stakeholders and relevant institutions to engage in meaningful discussions on the operations, mandate and future direction of AMCON, particularly as it relates to asset recovery, accountability, financial stability and sustainable economic growth.

As a member of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Other Ancillary Institutions ,I participated in the engagements and deliberations aimed at strengthening institutional frameworks and promoting greater accountability within Nigeria’s financial system.

The discussions further underscored the importance of striking the right balance between effective recovery of distressed assets, transparency and accountability in the management of recovered assets, and the need to ensure that financial sector interventions contribute meaningfully to economic growth and national development.

I commend the Chairman of the Committee and Chief Host of the retreat, Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze (MHR), as well as the leadership of the House Committee and AMCON, for convening this important stakeholder engagement.

The future of Nigeria’s financial system requires strong institutions, responsible financial management, effective oversight and policies that protect the economy while creating an enabling environment for sustainable growth. I remain committed to contributing to legislative efforts that will strengthen Nigeria’s financial architecture and promote the overall economic wellbeing of our nation.

HON. ENGR. DOMINIC OKAFOR FNSE CELEBRATES PROF. CYNTHIA OBIORA’S PROFESSORIAL ELEVATION, UNVEILS THREE BOOKS IN PORT HARCOURT

Over the weekend, I attended the Professorial Ceremony, Book Launch, Dinner and Thanksgiving organised in honour of Amb. Prof. Cynthia Obiora, an illustrious daughter of Anambra State, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The ceremony celebrated her elevation to the rank of Professor and featured the unveiling of three books authored by her. I was honoured to unveil the three books as part of the activities marking this significant milestone in her distinguished academic journey.

In my remarks, I congratulated Amb. Prof. Cynthia Obiora on her remarkable achievement, describing her elevation as a well-deserved recognition of her intellectual contributions, commitment to scholarship and dedication to academic excellence.

I told her that her current professorial status is not the destination, but a springboard to greater accomplishments and many more successes to come. I expressed my confidence in her capacity, character and great potentials, noting that, should the proposed reserved seats for women in legislative chambers become law, she stands a great chance of being elected, given the remarkable potentials she possesses.

I also commended her husband, Prof. Obiora, for his encouragement, support and partnership in her academic journey. Behind every great achievement is often a support system that inspires, encourages and strengthens the achiever, and I acknowledged the important role he has played in the journey.

On behalf of the good people of Aguata Federal Constituency and, indeed, the people of Anambra State, I congratulated Amb. Prof. Cynthia Obiora on this historic academic elevation.

I reminded her that Anambra is a state that places a premium on education and academic excellence, particularly under the leadership of our Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, whose administration continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to human capital development and excellence.

As a daughter of Anambra State, her achievement is a source of pride to our people. I therefore encouraged her to see this professorial elevation as a new platform for greater impact, wider service and more remarkable contributions to scholarship, society and humanity.

I once again congratulate Amb. Prof. Cynthia Obiora on her elevation to the rank of Professor and the successful launch of her three books. I celebrate her courage, intellect and accomplishments, and I wish her many more years of greater achievements.

HON. ENGR. DOMINIC OKAFOR FNSE ATTENDS INSTALLATION OF DR. ANTHONY CHIBUEZE OLIKAGU AS 10TH ROTARY DISTRICT GOVERNOR

Over the weekend, I was honoured to be a Special Guest at the Installation Ceremony of Dr. Anthony Chibueze Olikagu as the 10th District Governor of Rotary International District 9141. The ceremony took place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Rotary International is a global service organisation to which I have remained deeply committed and actively involved since 1996, when I joined the Rotary Club of Effurun. My Rotary journey subsequently took me to the Rotary Club of Ekulu in Enugu and later to the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, where I served as Club President during the 2011–2012 Rotary year.

At the end of my tenure, I was honoured to be recognised as the Best Club President in the then Rotary International District 9140, which comprised the five states of the South-East and six states of South-South geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Following the subsequent restructuring and division of the former district, District 9141 now comprises Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers States, while District 9142 comprises Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu States.

The installation ceremony brought together prominent Rotary leaders, Rotarians and distinguished guests from across the district and beyond. Among those present was the Global President of Rotary International, Rotarian Yinka Babalola. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, was represented at the event by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police. Also present was the Trustee of The Rotary Foundation and Past District Governor, Rotarian Ijeoma Okoro, alongside other distinguished Rotary leaders and Rotarians representing more than 200 Rotary clubs across the district.

In my remarks at the ceremony, I congratulated the newly installed District Governor, Dr. Anthony Chibueze Olikagu, and urged him to deploy the strength, network and resources of Rotary International to advance the organisation's humanitarian objectives across Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Rivers States and beyound.

I particularly encouraged him to ensure that more life-changing and sustainable projects are attracted to the district through The Rotary Foundation, with emphasis on interventions that directly improve the quality of life of people and create measurable impact in communities.

As a long-standing Rotarian, I remain proud of the organisation's enduring commitment to service above self and its global impact in the areas of healthcare, education, humanitarian intervention, peace-building and community development.

I am confident that under the leadership of District Governor Dr. Anthony Chibueze Olikagu, Rotary International District 9141 will experience a new chapter of purposeful leadership, stronger collaboration and greater impact across the four states under its jurisdiction.

I wish the new District Governor a successful and impactful tenure in service to Rotary and humanity.
