FFS EKITI COMMAND JOINS SEMA IN FLAG-OFF OF DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS FOR 2026 FIRE AND RAINSTORM VICTIMS

The Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, in collaboration with the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has flagged off the distribution of relief materials to victims of the 2026 fire and rainstorm disasters.

The flag-off ceremony held on Thursday 20th August, 2026, at SEMA Warehouse, Behind Chicken Republic, Bank Road, Ado Ekiti, brought together government officials, community leaders, emergency stakeholders and beneficiaries from the affected areas.

Speaking at the event, the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF O.J. Olatunji, ably represented by the Public Relations Officer, DSF G.F. Adegbola, said the intervention was in line with the Government’s mandate to provide succor to victims of disaster and to reduce the impact of losses suffered by families and communities.

He noted that while relief is important, prevention remains key. He further charged residents to be fire safety ambassadors in their homes and workplaces by avoiding electrical overloads, proper storage of flammable materials, and ensuring gas cylinders and cookers are switched off after use.

In his remarks, the General Manager, Ekiti SEMA, Mr. Asaolu Oludare, appreciated the partnership with FFS Ekiti Command and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting victims and building community resilience against disasters. He confirmed that the relief materials distributed include food items, and cheques.

In her remarks, The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Her Excellency Chief [Mrs] Monisade Afuye, commended SEMA, FFS and other emergency stakeholders for the timely intervention. She urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials and to cooperate with emergency agencies on safety sensitization and compliance.

The Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, reaffirmed its 24/7 emergency response readiness and commitment to public enlightenment, rescue operations, and protection of lives and property across the state.

"BE FIRE SAFETY AMBASSADORS" - FFS EKITI CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS


The Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command has called on National Youth Service Corps members to become "Fire Safety Ambassadors" in their places of primary assignment and host communities across Ekiti State.

The charge was given during a sensitization program held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti, as part of efforts to reduce fire incidents and promote safety culture among young Nigerians.

Speaking on behalf of the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF O.J. Olatunji, DSF Stephen Noah, emphasized that corps members, as educated and mobile youths, are in a unique position to influence safety practices.
“You are going to schools, offices, markets, and rural communities. We charge you today to be Fire Safety Ambassadors. A single act of carelessness can destroy property and lives. But a single act of prevention can save hundreds,” he said.

*Key Fire Safety Tips Delivered by FFS Ekiti:*
1. Switch off electrical appliances before leaving home or office
2. Avoid overloading sockets and use quality wiring
3. Do not store flammable liquids at home
4. Have a fire extinguisher and know how to use the PASS technique: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep
5. Keep matches and lighters out of the reach of children

The FFS team also conducted a live fire extinguisher demonstration for the corps members to ensure practical understanding.

The sensitization aligns with FFS’s mandate of “Saving Lives and Property” and supports NYSC’s Community Development Service objectives.

The Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command reassures the public that its personnel and firefighting equipment remain on standby 24/7 across the state.

FFS EKITI COMMAND PARTNERS SEMA ON FLOOD PREPAREDNESS SENSITIZATION ; URGES RESIDENTS TO CLEAR DRAINAGES AND HEED EARLY WARNINGS

The Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to disaster mitigation as it partnered with the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for a statewide Flood Preparedness Sensitization Campaign.

The sensitization exercise, held at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, was organized by State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to educate the stakeholders, residents, especially those in flood-prone communities, on proactive measures to prevent flood-related loss of lives and property ahead of the peak rainy season.

Speaking on behalf of the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF O.J. Olatunji, the Public Relations Officer, DSF G.F. Adegbola, stated that the collaboration aligns with Federal Fire Service’s core mandate of “Saving Lives and Property".

“Flood is not just a natural disaster. Blocked drainages and building on waterways are human factors we can control. The Federal Fire Service (FFS) is fully prepared with our rescue teams and equipment on standby, but prevention is better than response,” he said.

He noted that the partnership with SEMA, NEMA, NIMET, and NIHSA is critical to ensuring that early warnings get to the grassroots in time for action.

2. Do not dump refuse in gutters and water channels
3. Avoid building on waterways and flood plains

FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, EKITI COMMAND ATTENDS HEADS OF ALL FEDERAL SECURITY AGENCIES MEETING

The State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF O.J. Olatunji, joined other Service Chiefs at the July edition of the monthly meeting of Heads of all Federal Security Agencies in Ekiti state.

This month's meeting was held at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) State Headquarters, Federal Poly Road, Ado-Ekiti.

The meeting underscores the need to foster inter-agency collaboration and prompt discussion on cogent information that calls for swift response on emerging security concerns in the country and the need to advance the process of safeguarding the lives and property of citizens through coordinated efforts, inclusive operational trajectory and strategic approach to achieve more excellence in the security architecture of Nigeria.

FFS EKITI COMMAND HOSTS NEW NYSC STATE COORDINATOR, SEEKS PARTNERSHIP ON YOUTH FIRE SAFETY

In furtherance of its inter-agency partnerships, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Ekiti State Command under the leadership of the State Controller, DCF O.J. Olatunji, has received the new State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ekiti State, Mr. Ige Adeola Abiodun, on a familiarization visit to the Command Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti.

In his welcome address, the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Ekiti State Command, DCF Olatunji Olumide James, congratulated the State Coordinator on his appointment, appreciated him and the management team on the courtesy call. He described the visit as strategic and a strong step towards building collaboration for public safety in Ekiti State. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Service and its readiness to fostering more robust relationships with the scheme through deployment of professional firefighters in ensuring safety of lives and protection of public infrastructures at the orientation camp in conjunction with other coordinating agencies to achieve optimal performance.

In his remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Ige Adeola Abiodun, appreciated the Federal Fire Service for its usual support through fire safety. He also commended the Service for its professionalism and swift response to emergencies.

The State Coordinator further seeks for assistance of the Service ahead of the forthcoming orientation course in terms of fumigation exercise around strategic places at Ise-Orun/Emure NYSC orientation camp to prevent reptiles and other dangerous animals from harming the Corps Members and the officials during the orientation course.

Responding, the State Controller assured the Coordinator of the Command’s total commitment to the partnership. He pledged that trained officers will be deployed to NYSC orientation camps for regular training and sensitization.
