Chief Primus Ugochukwu Odili adds another feather to his title with a PhD in Philosophy.
Chief Primus Ugochukwu Odili ( Mgbologu Okosisi Aguleri) yesterday 3rd August 2026 earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) after successfully defending his doctoral thesis.
His doctoral achievement marks the culmination of a remarkable journey of scholarship, perseverance, and purpose. It stands as a testament to his passion for knowledge, relentless pursuit of wisdom, and unwavering commitment of service to humanity.
His thesis was centered on using Martin Heidegger’s theory of Conscience to solve the problem of moral decadence in Nigeria. His External Examiner was revered Prof. Charles Umeh Nweke of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Also present at the defence are the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Prof. Osita Chiaghanam, the Head of Department, Dr. Emeka Iloanya; and his supervisors, Prof. Sylvanus Nnoruka and Dr. Donatus Nwoye along with Rev. Fr. Prof. Kenneth Ikenga Oraegbunam and Prof. Ifeanyi Muoneke, among other distinguished academics and well-wishers.
In his remarks, the External Examiner, Prof. Charles Umeh Nweke, commended Chief Primus Ugochukwu Odili for his diligence, dedication, and outstanding academic performance. He affirmed that Chief Odili was worthy of the award of the Doctor of Philosophy degree and described him as a worthy ambassador of the discipline.
Delivering his vote of thanks, Chief Primus Ugochukwu Odili described the occasion as "the greatest gift I have given myself." He recalled that it represents his most significant personal achievement since returning from the United States of America eight years ago to serve alongside the former Governor of Anambra State.
He further revealed that even after leaving Government House at the end of their administration, he remained committed to his academic pursuit, frequently travelling between Nigeria and the United States to attend lectures and examinations a commitment witnessed by his Head of Department and lecturers.
This outstanding academic accomplishment sends a powerful message to people of all ages: it is never too late to learn, and when wisdom is combined with purposeful action, it transforms lives and inspires generations.
