Bernard Gavrin (c. 1915 – July 1944) was a U.S. Army Private who fought bravely in the Battle of Saipan during World War II. He went missing in action between June 15 and July 9, 1944, and for 70 years his family never knew what became of him. Decades later, during a recovery mission, the Japanese nonprofit Kuentai Group discovered his remains along with his Dog-Tags the single clue that helped establish his identity. With DNA testing, his family was finally able to confirm who he was, and on September 12, 2014, Bernard Gavrin was laid to rest with honor at Arlington National Cemetery.
