*HON. PRINCESS KIKELOMO IKUOMOLA ADVOCATES GREATER AWARENESS FOR ONDO STATE SKILLS ACQUISITION PROGRAMME*

The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, has called for intensified public sensitisation to boost enrolment and participation in the State's Skills Acquisition Programme.

She made the call on Tuesday while receiving tutors and supervisors from the Ondo State Skills Acquisition and Technical School, Oda, who paid a courtesy visit to her office to discuss the progress of the programme and the challenges affecting its implementation.

The delegation commended the Ondo State Government for its commitment to vocational education but highlighted several issues hindering the programme's success. These included the ₦20,000 registration fee, which they noted discouraged many prospective trainees, revealing that only 20 of the 55 students registered for Fashion Design eventually resumed training. They also identified inadequate electricity supply, the inability of some students to afford training materials, and poor commitment from a number of trainees as major challenges.

Responding, Hon. Ikuomola emphasised the importance of creating greater public awareness to encourage more residents, particularly young people, to take advantage of the life-changing opportunities offered through the programme. She described vocational education as a vital tool for youth empowerment, economic self-reliance, and sustainable development.

She also urged tutors and supervisors to remain patient and committed in mentoring trainees, noting that people learn at different speeds and require encouragement to reach their full potential.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Atunse, advised the tutors and supervisors to document all identified challenges in a comprehensive report for presentation to the appropriate government authorities to facilitate informed interventions.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening vocational education in Ondo State, followed by a group photograph featuring Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Atunse, the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Omirin, the Director of Programmes, Mrs. Blessing Ojumu, and the visiting tutors and supervisors.

*Ondo Govt Strengthens Nigeria First Agenda as Aiyedatiwa's Aide Champions Government-CSO Partnership at Southern Civil Society Summit*

The Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Princess Kikelomo Ikuomola, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa administration to building strategic partnerships that promote inclusive governance, sustainable development, and improved service delivery across the state.

Speaking at the Southern Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Summit held in Lagos with the theme, "Nigeria First," Hon. Ikuomola stressed that government and civil society organisations should not be viewed as adversaries but as indispensable partners working towards a common goal of national development.

Representing Ondo State at the high-level gathering of government officials, civil society leaders, development partners, and policy experts, the Special Adviser highlighted Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa's people-centred approach to governance, noting that his administration continues to encourage stakeholder engagement, transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in decision-making.

According to her, Governor Aiyedatiwa has consistently demonstrated that sustainable development can only be achieved through collaboration between government institutions, civil society organisations, the private sector, and development partners.

She further noted that Ondo State remains committed to policies that strengthen democratic governance, improve public service delivery, empower communities, and create opportunities for inclusive economic growth.

The summit concluded with the adoption of a comprehensive 15-point resolution addressing critical national priorities, including national unity, security, food security, climate action, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), open budgeting, rule of law, youth empowerment, social protection, MSME development, quality healthcare, and education.

Participants also resolved to replace unnecessary confrontation with constructive engagement, dialogue, and strategic partnerships as the most effective pathway towards national progress.

The resolutions adopted at the summit are expected to form part of the recommendations to be presented at the forthcoming National Civil Society Summit, providing a framework for stronger collaboration between government and civil society across Nigeria.

Hon. Ikuomola described the summit as timely and impactful, stating that Ondo State, under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will continue to support initiatives that strengthen intergovernmental relations, deepen democratic values, and improve the quality of life for the people of the state.

She reaffirmed that the Aiyedatiwa administration remains focused on delivering the dividends of democracy through partnerships, innovation, and policies that place the welfare of citizens at the centre of governance.

"Ondo State believes that sustainable development is built on trust, dialogue, and collaboration. Under the leadership of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, we will continue to build bridges across institutions and work with civil society as partners in delivering a more prosperous and inclusive future for our people," she said.
