PRESS UPDATE | MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES DEFENDS 2026 BUDGET AT DELTA ASSEMBLY
Yesterday, the Honorable Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Hon. Dr. Isaac Wilkie, led a delegation comprising the Acting Permanent Secretary, Directors, and General Managers of relevant agencies to defend the 2026 Budget Proposal of the Ministry before the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Water, ably chaired by Hon. Bino Ovwhede, Member representing Isoko South Constituency I.
During the session, Hon Dr Isaac Wilkie highlighted the critical importance and urgent need for potable water as a cornerstone for public health, economic growth, and sustainable development across Delta State. He also outlined the remarkable progress recorded in the water sector under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, in line with the MORE Agenda of the present administration. He further assured the Committee of the Ministry’s commitment to consolidating these gains and delivering an even stronger performance in 2026.
The House Committee expressed excitement and commendation, as it eulogized both the Ministry and the Honorable Commissioner for their tremendous performance so far, while pledging continued legislative support for the Ministry’s mandate.
The Ministry remains steadfast in its mission to ensure sustainable water development and improved service delivery for the people of Delta State.
