Hon. Sir Afam Mbanefo, now Distinguished Anambra State Commander Medal Winner.

Hon. Sir Afam Mbanefo the outgoing Commissioner for Transport in the outgoing Administration of His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano is truly a Cabinet member of the Executive Chambers with Excellence.

Afam Mbanefo was first appointed as the Commissioner for Agriculture where the innovations his smart ideas put in place still speaks for itself, he took Agriculture in Anambra State placed it on the map, indeed Anambra farmers won't forget him in a hurry. After putting years of proactive and intensive work in Agriculture, he was transferred to be the Commissioner for Youths and Creative Economy, and now Ministry of Transportation.

In all the Ministry's that Afam Mbanefo has served, he has brought the use Technology with him.
In Ministry of Agriculture, he established the E-agric Monitoring and Control Center, the only database of Agriculture in the country. In the Ministry of Youths he set up the Database Hub where Youths register as skilled or unskilled. Now in the Ministry of Transport, he has setup the Transport Command and Control Center (TCCC) where every event on Anambra roads can be reported for swift response.

This is why he is called the Super Digital Commissioner.

Whoever that knows Hon. Afam Mbanefo knows he is technocrat extraordinaire, smart, brain box, always full of working ideas. No wonder wherever he steps in tangible results follow.

Words will fail to completely describe the personality and qualities of Afam Mbanefo in this space.

Today is 28 December 2021

Since this Yuletide ,We have enjoyed free flow of traffic in Anambra roads.

Yes. Team ministry of Transport led by Hon Commisoner for transport. Hon Afam Mbanefo deployed members of ATMA,Ocha Brigade,VIO and various Traffic volunteer group on our roads.

While we celebrate, they have been on our roads,sacrificing to enable us have traffic free Yuletide

Even on 25th December 2021 ,the Commissioner for Transport ,Hon Afam Mbanefo led members of team ministry of transport to head bridge, Onitsha. The visit Supervised and sustained free flow of traffic at Bridgehead,Onitsha .

Recall also that Anambra state government and Delta state Government has partnered to sustain free flow of traffic at both ends of Niger head bridge .

Anambra/Delta States Collaborate On Free Flow Of Traffic At Bridge-Head, Onitsha/Asaba, Withdraw Check Points.

Deeply committed to ensuring free flow of traffic during this yuletide, joint task force on traffic management comprising governments of Anambra and Delta paid a visit to the foot of Bridge-Head, Onitsha and Asaba ends.

Secretary to the government of Anambra state, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu led the Anambra team while Chief Policy Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Professor Sylvester Monye led the Delta team.

According to the Professor Chukwulobelu who said that visit was the prompting of the two state governors stated that the initiative dates back to a meeting between the governments in 2015 where they resolved and agreed to make such effort every Christmas season.

While announcing that the two state governments have ordered the immediate removal of all checkpoints or IGR collection points at the foot of the bridge from both ends, the SSG reiterated the commitment of the two states at synergizing to expend needed resources to give commuters a good motoring experience this yuletide.

Professor Monye said they will work together to ensure that the assignment is carried on twenty four hours calling on commuters especially VIPs from both sides of the divide to exercise patience as security officials have the mandate to arrest and impound any vehicle that breaches the traffic protocol.

Anambra State Commissioner for Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng, Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Army, Civil Defence Corps, OCHA Brigade, among others were part of the visit.

After Extensive Meeting with Different Transport Union Leaders, Security Agencies,and Road Traffic Agencies. Stakeholders, Transport Political Appointees and Transport Consultants.

The following mandate is hereby given

1. All Road Traffic Control Agencies are mandated to ensure free flowing traffic on all Anambra Roads with immediate effect to ensure a free traffic as we approach the Yuletide.

2. Touting activities on Anambra Roads is highly prohibited. Any tout seen on Anambra Roads will henceforth be treated like a CRIMINAL. The Security operatives of Anambra are on the look out. Any tout caught will be tried by mobile court and sent to prison Quickly!!!.

3. Traffic Control and Enforcement team are charged to contravene and impound every auto mobile plying against traffic ( doing One-Way) in Anambra Roads. This offenders MUST NOT GO SCOT-FREE.

The Administration of His Excellency Chief Dr. Willie Maduburochukwu Obiano, the Executive Governor of Anambra State is completely against every form of Criminality in Anambra.

Ndi Anambra are peace loving and law abiding people, so Ndi Anambra must unite against every form of unlawful activities on our Roads.

Remember, once the arm of the Law catches you. You will go in for it.

Anambra begins clampdown on transport operators without ATMC number.

Awka, July 30, 2021 Anambra State Government has announced a commencement of clampdown on transport operators in the state without the Anambra Transport Management Code (ATMC).

This operation will be done according to the three senatorial zones in the state.

The state Commissioner for Transport, Mr Afam Mbanefo made this announcement July 28, at the inauguration of the State ATMC Taskforce Team, at the Conference Hall of the Head of Service, at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, Awka.

In his speech, Hon. Afam Mbanefo said that the ATMC is designed to assist commuters, security personnel and taskforce members in proper identification and management of commercial drivers and their activities on the roads.

He noted that adequate time and publicity had been given concerned drivers to register and obtain their ATMC.

Hon. Afam Mbanefo said that designated areas had been mapped out for registration for the Code.

He also urged the taskforce members to be civil while carrying out their operations, stressing that the State Government would only be interested in improving security and not making money through the exercise.

In his comment, Head of Special Duties, Ministry of Transport, Mr Sunday Okafor, said that the taskforce was ready to commence the enforcement exercise to assist Government in achieving its set objectives in the transport sector.

``I urge commercial drivers to see the benefits of the exercise,’’ he added.

In his reaction, the Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Tippers Association, Mr Ozoemena Okoye, who spoke on behalf of others, acknowledged that that there had been sufficient time and publicity had been given for the exercise.

The event was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Emman Udakpeh, Transport Command and Control Center ( TCCC) and Vehicle Inspection Officers; representatives of Anambra State Tippers Association, Urban Drivers Welfare Association Anambra State (UDWAAS) and Tricycle Riders

Anambra State government has inaugurated a restructured Special Enforcement Team under the Ministry of Transport aimed at ensuring safety, sanity and security on the state’s roads.

The inauguration ceremony performed by the state Governor Chief Willie Obiano was held at Onitsha North Council Area Secretariat GRA Onitsha.

The Governor represented by the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Afam Mbanefo on arrival, inspected the guard of honour mounted on his honour by the Special Enforcement Team.

Addressing the team, Governor Obiano reminded them that Anambra state is the light of the nation urging them to restore the ethics of driving on roads by controlling traffick to appreciable level while commending the team for their readiness to discharge their duty.

In his speech the Area Commander Onitsha Area Command ASP John Obuagbaka urged the team to work in accordance with the law saying that he will not tolerate illegality and assured them of the cooperation of the Nigerian police.

The Commander Special Enforcement Team and the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Security, Mr. Chiejina Obieze and the Deputy Commander Mr. Alex Osaka challenged the team to work according to the code of conduct of the team and ethics of their job to achieve the desired goal of establishing the team.

Others who spoke at the event include the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport Mr. Emma Udeakpe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Mr. Eloka Egbunike among others.
