FABIOLA

My hold on my purse wasn’t steady, in reality, nothing about me was steady, my heartbeat, the movement of my legs, nothing.

I was a few seconds away from speaking to my high school crush and every ounce of me was urging me to back down, but I kept reminding myself. I am not the girl I used to be back in high school. This Fabiola right here wasn’t a shy nerd who was liked only by teachers. My college year was going to be different, good different, and this is one of the ways I can make that happen.

He stood at the corner of the pitch, a bottle of water in his right hand while his left hand carefully dabbed his sweaty face with a white towel.

“Hi.” My words came out soft and unsteady.

Lan lifted his head, a brow raised.

Exactly, that was the face he always made, the one I loved, the one I see in my dreams.

“Hey,” his soft eyes scanned me as he straightened to his full height, towering over me.

He smelled like soap, a very intoxicating soap that I felt was edible.

I stood still, taking in his scent, his green eyes on me, his body towering over me. I lost my voice, my words. I couldn’t speak nor could I recall the words I rehearsed. His gaze danced with curiosity, I guess he was wondering what was going on because I was too.

I didn’t give it a second thought before pushing the bottle of water to him, pressing it against his chest I could swear was rock hard. He narrowed his eyes, his brows weren’t the only part that was arched, his head was too. But he was Lan Hawkeye, the calmest and most charming guy I knew. Even though he was a hot commodity, he had always been so humble. He accepted the bottle of water although he already had one.

“Thanks?” He held the bottle expecting me to say more but I just turned around hurrying away, with strides so long and fast I nearly broke into a run.

“Okay, that was weird,” I heard him mutter behind me.

Yes, that was weird Fabiola. What was that? I was supposed to walk up to him and start a meaningful conversation but I failed and would never be able to show my face before him ever.

………

I arrived home and pushed the door harshly like it offended me. Taking off my shoes at the entrance, my ears perked up at the yelling voices. My Uncle and Aunt, arguing again.

They always had something to disagree on.

Usually, I don’t pay attention to whatever their arguments were about but this time, my name was being mentioned repeatedly. Was I the reason they were fighting? Why? My curiosity got the best of me, I dragged my feet up the stairs to listen closely.

“Fabiola is not a child! For a matter of fact, she owes us!” That was my Aunt Cathy. .

“Owe you! What does that mean? She lost her parents, she lost them because…….

“That doesn’t matter, we could have chosen to drop her off at the orphanage but we didn’t.” Aunt Cathy harshly interrupted him.

“Can you hear yourself, I can't do that to an innocent child!”

Do what? My brows creased. Whatever was going on didn’t seem like it was going in my favor.

“Then what is your plan? You know you can’t go against the Hawkeyes, you know what will happen if you do!”

The Hawkeyes? Wait, what?.

“Fabiola.” Penelope, my ever-so-sweet cousin, disrupted my listening. She looked at me differently today, she didn’t have that withering look on.

“What’s going on?” I walked closer and she moved back like she could be able to avoid the question by giving me space.

“Fabiola.” Aunty Cathy’s sharp firm tone sounded from behind. “Robert will tell you.” She tipped her chin towards Uncle Robert who was standing beside her.

He couldn’t meet my eyes, but Cathy sized me up.

“My dear,” he said, approaching me, his eyes wandering everywhere, never settling on me. “What do you think about getting married?”

“Married?” I projected my gentle voice as loudly as I could.

“Yes, you would have to marry into the Hawkeye family,” Aunt Cathy chirped in, she lacked the patience to let Uncle Robert do the talking.

“I don’t understand,” I restlessly tucked my hair behind my ears.

“Tobias Hawkeye needs a bride and you shall be his bride.” She articulated each word making sure I caught every single one.

“Tobias Hawkeye? The footballer?” I darted my eyes from my cousin to her father.

“Look on the bright side, Fab, he’s a billionaire,” Pen made a poor attempt to ease the tension.

“Then why don’t you marry him?” I snapped at her.

“He doesn’t want Pen, he wants you.” The lie fell smoothly from Aunt Cathy’s lips.

“He doesn’t know me!” I usually do not talk back, but this was a hard fate to accept without a fight.

“You think so?” Aunt Cathy moved towards me with an intimidating confidence. “You’ll marry Tobias, the topic isn't up for debate. If you really appreciate the roof we’ve placed over your head, education, good meals, and dresses you would….

“Cathy!!!” Uncle Robert stopped her before she could go further. “You will not speak to her like that.”

“What’s the need to sugarcoat?” She gave her head a slight tilt.

She was right. In the end, that’s what they all wanted me to do, to marry a man almost twice my age. I raced to my room, my eyes brimming with tears. I owed them everything, they took me in and sheltered me, it is only right that I grant them this one favor. But still it sounded and felt wrong, so wrong.

I was just twenty!

Hi my lovelies, hope y’all are good.

Trinity’s heart throbbed as she stared at all of them in total confusion, still waiting for Eloise, whom they mentioned to show up.

Kol stood beside the window away from her, hands resting on each side of his waist watching her with his jaw clenched in frustration.

Without a word, he moved towards her with long strides; with just two steps, he was standing before her.

He grabbed her arm harshly. “Let’s see what you can do with this mortal body,” he rumbled as he pulled her along with him, hurrying away.

He pulled her all the way to an empty room in the building, all the sarcasm and smugness gone from his eyes at the thought that his mother was standing before him.

“Now, I’ll kill you,” he announced.

“What’s going on? Why?” Trinity’s eyes widened in terror. It just dawned on her, she was about to die

He grabbed her neck, ignoring her screams, dipping his fangs into her only to pull them out all just immediately, moving away with something dark dancing in his eyes.

Her blood was burning, scalding burning.

His heart pounded loudly.

“Ahhhhh,” he roared, punching the wall.

For the first time since he resurrected, he lost his cool. Only she, his mother could get this reaction from him.

“Do something, save your stupid self,” he dragged a dry log, splitting it into two with his knees.

“What are you doing?” Evie showed up at the door before he could do anything. Panting, she ran down here.

Kol turned to her, his demeanor dark and ice-cold.

Evie knew he was creepy but never had she imagined this side of him.

“What are you doing to her?” She took a step back as he approached her slowly. “Albert!” She yelled about running but Kol caught her swiftly.

“No!!!!” Trinity yelled loudly but that only fueled his desire to end Evie's life.

He revealed his fangs and the veins around his eyes popped, his blue eyes turning blood red. He sank his fangs into her neck, drinking from her with an urgency that could dry her blood in minutes.

“Damn you!” Albert showed up just before he dragged the last drop of blood from her vein.

He pushed him off and zoomed off with Evie with a speed like that of the wind.

“What? You’re not a good man! You’re evil!” Trinity yelled, eyes wide but not a single tear.

“Great discovery,” he wiped the blood dripping from the side of his lip. “Are you gonna drop the act or should I kill all the Featheringtons?”

“What are you saying? What act?” Trinity yelled.

“I see, you don’t care if I kill them? Because you’re also evil, pretending to be a good witch.”

“Have you gone mad?” Trinity raised a brow. “Wait, you seriously think I’m Eloise, your mother?”

For a split second, she wished he was right, even if it was causing this chaos.

Even with her life hanging on the line along with Kol’s patience, she imagined herself using the kind of magic Eloise used, a quick smile brushing past her lips.

“Only one way to find out,” Kol moved to her and pushed the dry wood he held into her chest, squeezing it along with her scream. He didn’t stop till she drew her last breath.

“About time,” he moved away, letting Trinity’s dead body fall to the ground with a thud.

*

Albert fed Evie his blood before she could take her last breath and in minutes she was back to life, fully healed.

She was panting, eyes wide, carrying “Trinity. He wants to kill her. Monster. He’s a monster. She was right. Vampires are real, I saw it, I saw his eyes I, I,……

“Shhh,” Albert smoothed her blond hair. “Relax,” he whispered into her face.

“No, do something, help Trinity.”

“I can’t, no one can help anyone from Kol,” his reply wasn’t something Evie needed to hear but he said it anyway.

“What?” She je**ed away from his hold but he caught her immediately.

“You would be calm,” he stared directly into her eyes. Gaze piercing. “You’ll forget everything that has happened, Kol, Trinity, Philippa; forget everything and go home. None of this happened, you hid in the bushes for days near the river.”

Evangeline’s nerves immediately relaxed, nodding at everything he just said.

“None of this happened. Trinity is not in danger,” she muttered to herself and he nodded, releasing his hold on her.

“Good.” He ignited the engine. “I’ll drop you off.”

*

Bathsheba sat beside her mother’s bed, holding onto her stiff hands. She had been beside the bed all through last night, not moving an inch.

Killian couldn’t bear the sight, he was out, soaking in alcohol, taking in the reality that they were now orphans. He was quick to accept his fate and move on, but that aspect was always a struggle for Bathsheba.

She needed her mother back, she wanted her back.

A chilly wind moved behind her making the hair on her back stand. She ignored the cold breeze till it became impossible to ignore. She let go of her mother’s hand and rose to her feet.

“Mother?” In her delusional mind, she wanted to think that her mother’s spirit had come to visit.

Yes, being friends with Trinity for a few days had changed her a bit. And she needed this kind of faith.

“Mom!” She called again.

The wind blew heavier as voices began to echo from nowhere in particular. All around her she heard voices that didn’t belong to her mother.

“It’s time, it’s time, it’s time.”

Fear gripped her like never before, the wind became so heavy that the windows couldn’t stay closed, nor could the curtains remain on the wall, they fell and that made her scream. Running off.

She ran as fast as her legs could carry, she didn’t stop till she got to her grandma’s.

She ran into the sitting room, panting and crying. “She’s dead,” she said to her grandmother who was busy watering a plant.

“I know,” She didn’t turn to stare at her. “Anything else?”

“What's wrong with me?” Bathsheba yelled, wailing.

“Nothing dear, just that the boundaries have been broken. Your parents were keeping you from fulfilling your destiny, now they’re gone.”

“What freaking destiny,” Bathsheba yelled, her already puffy eyes producing more tears.

“He killed us, now it’s time to kill him. And now it’s the only time you can do that,” she replied and Bathsheba watched her like a crazy old lady, the way she always does.

“Him?”

“Yes,” the old lady nodded.

To be continued…….

Aiden’s nostrils flared, white with fury as he stood before his supposed in-laws pouring out his rage.

“How big is this town? We would find her I promise you,” Matthew said the same words he has been saying for days now.

“Those words,” he sucked his teeth in frustration. “It’s been over a week,” he paced, too impatient to take a seat. “What if she left town?”

“She…..” whatever Mrs Featherington was about to say we would never know because Aiden interrupted her.

“Where’s Trinity? I feel you both are being too easy with her.”

“Trust me, I’m not,” Matt has to suppress the urge to laugh at that statement. “It’s late, why don’t you go home and then we’ll talk about this tomorrow?”

“No!” Aiden has totally lost his patience and it wasn’t news. “I want to see Trinity now! I need answers to my question now!,” he thundered. “Mr Featherington it seems like you don’t understand that you’re about to make a fool out of me.”

“Aiden?” Matt was surprised by his choice of words.

“Yes, that’s what it is. Invitation has been sent out, thousands! Now what will I say to them? My bride ran away? People will think the worst of me, my reputation, the funds that have gone into all this, and……

“Mr Kipling,” Matt stopped him. “Breathe, none of that will happen. As for Trinity I would bring her down to you immediately. I swear to you if there’s anything she knows that I can't get out of her, no one can. I haven’t ever been easy on her.”

“Please bring her to me.” His nerves settled a bit hearing Matt agree to bring his youngest daughter for questioning.

“She might be fast asleep,” Mrs Featherington whispered to her husband but he hushed her.

“Go get her,” he curtly said.

“Yes,” Mrs Featherington looked away from her husband and passed a soft smile to Aiden before rising to go get her daughter.

Aiden and Matt sat in the sitting room, an awkward silence hovering around them.

A minute passed and they could hear Mrs Featherington’s footsteps, her pace quick and panicked.

Aiden and Matt had their eyes pinned to the staircase as she climbed down in a rush, two steps at a time, almost running.

She shook her head, not needing to use her words to make them understand.

Matt's jaw clenched and he sank into the couch he was sitting on.

“I was right,” Aiden chuckled dryly. “I have let you do your thing, now we’re doing it my way.” With that, he stormed off.

Matt's tightly wrapped fist went to his mouth as he spoke quietly, more like he was speaking to himself. “If we find Evangeline, Trinity leaves town.”

Mrs Featherington gasped, knowing exactly what that meant.

*

Kol stood by the doorway, hands folded over his chest easy and relaxed, as he watched the sisters have their happy reunion.

Bathsheba just perched on one of the couches, her eyes everywhere except on him. She was scared of him.

“Hi, Albert, heard you were the hero that saved my sister,” Trinity beamed at Albert who sat casually smiling at her. “Look at those brown eyes,” she moved closer to him, peering at him. “You are just the type of guy she used to write to……..

“Trinity,” Evie gripped her sister’s arm tightly, stopping her from speaking further.

“Okay, enough of the cue the cinematic music moment,” Kol eased from the door frame, his ocean blue eyes staring so hard at Trinity that one would think they could bore holes in her skin. She didn’t look away; she held his gaze as if she were familiar with him. “The Grimoire,” he stopped a few steps from her.

“Right,” she beamed. “Why do you want it anyway? Are you a witch?”

“No questions, just hand it over.”

“Why? It’s mine, I have the right to ask questions,” she argued.

“No, it isn’t yours you little thief,” he arched his brows, and Albert chuckled at the scene.

“Yeah but it isn’t yours either,” she retorted.

“I doubt that,” he took two steps closer, covering the gap between them but she didn’t move back, if anything she moved forward. “You aren’t scared of anything are you?”

“No, why do you need the book?”

“Trinity just give him what he needs and let’s leave,” Bathsheba half yelled, tired of the drama.

“I don’t have it,” she yelled back, sparing Bathsheba a glance.

“Then let’s leave,” Bathsheba turned to look at Kol for the first time. “She’ll bring it to you tomorrow,” she rose to her feet, too tired for any more talks.

“Alright love,” Kol looked at her in admiration. “And our little date?” He winked at her.

Bathsheba totally ignored him, pulling Trinity with her as she screamed. “See you tomorrow Evie.”

“Bye,” Evie waved, standing at the door for an extra minute after they were gone. “I’m going to bed,” she said when she finally left the door.

The sadness in her voice was evident, she needed it all to end so she could go home.

Both Kol and Albert watched silently as Evie walked past them with a solemn face.

“Uh-huh, seems like we have a sad girlfriend,” Kol wiggled his brow while Albert just gazed at him with no care in the world.

“Trinity huh?” Philippa slipped in through the window. “I like her.”

No one was surprised. She likes anyone or anything who could stand up to Kol.

“Once she brings the Grimoire here, she’s dead,” Kol slumped down in the chair, trying to hide his bruised ego.

That tiny thing looked him in the eyes and challenged him.

“You won’t kill her,” Albert raised a finger.

“Ohhh, I wonder what you’ll do to stop me,” Kol grinned.

“What did you find about the vampires?” Albert knew better than to continue the argument with Kol.

“There are so many of them and they’re sired by an old vampire,” she bounced her butt down to the sofa, her legs in the shiny boots crossed.

“How old,” Kol squinted.

“Very old.”

“Atlas old?” Albert sat up, concerned.

“I fear even older,” Phillippa increased the tension. “Think about it, Atlas wasn’t the first ever vampire nor was his father Zanok.”

“Yeah we know that but they were the only ones alive,” Albert argued like he could make everything she was saying a total lie.

“So what’s the big deal,” Kol was waiting for the interesting part of this all.

“Older means stronger and they're after you,” Phillippa pointed it out to him.

“They can’t kill me, no one can,” he stopped to rethink. “No one alive can,” he rephrased, recalling his mother.

“And now if you would excuse me, I need to plot a plan on how to woo that little witch and take back what’s mine,” he rose from the couch whistling away.

“Nothing bothers him,” Albert said, watching him leave.

“I wish they would find him and kill him,” Phillppa grouched.

“I heard that,” he yelled, pushing the door to his room open.

“I don’t care,” she yelled back.

*

Bathsheba arrived home late and was a bit surprised when the lights were still on.

She walked into her home with a frown, her heart skipped a beat when she found Jesse and Killian seated in the sitting room that was dead silent.

The look on their faces almost stopped her heart.

“Where have you been?” Jesse sprang to his feet immediately as she walked in.

“What’s going on?” She screamed.

Killian didn’t even lift his head as he muttered. “She’s dead.”

“What, no, no, no, no,” Bathsheba hurried up the stairs headed to her mother's room to see for herself.

“Ahhhhhhhh,” Killian left the couch and punched the wall in rage.

And just like that it broke, making a shape of his fist.

He was too clouded in his sorrow to notice.

Jesse brows frowned as he hurried to him, eyes darting from the hole in the wall to Killian.

“Did you just….” The words got lost in his throat.

He hurried to Killian and grabbed his fist that broke the wall to find the bruise healing slowly.

“What?” Killian barked at him.

“Oh my God,” Jesse muttered.

*

Trinity tip-toed her way back into her room and the grimoire was the first thing her eyes spotted.

She grabbed it smiling. “I’ll give it to him tomorrow, if only he's nice,” she said, sitting down on the bed, flipping through the pages.

“Why does he want it anyway,” Her eyes peered at ancient writing that she couldn’t make sense of. “Why would anyone want this so desperately?”

Curiosity got the best of her and she rose to her feet.

Every regular person will go to bed and figure this out tomorrow, but she wasn’t a regular person, she was Trinity.

Holding the book to her chest, she opened the door quietly and tiptoed out only to come face to face with her father.

“Going somewhere?” He asked with his hand behind.

*

It was late at night and everyone was asleep. Kol stood in the dark room, looking out the window, eyes on the stars.

He just wanted to get his powers and return to the park and take the position of the Alpha from his father.

Who are these vampires and what do they want with him?

He kept wondering when his ears caught the footsteps, it was still far away but he could hear it.

“Batsheba?”

Were his instincts messing with him? Why would she be here?

He went to the sitting room and opened the door before the person could.

“Trinity,” he stared in disappointment.

“Hey.” she brushed past him and hurried in.

“Is Bathsheba with you?” He asked, because he could sense it, but a little faint now.

“No she went home,” she replied breathlessly.

“I would have asked who you’re running from but I don’t care, give it,” he stretched his hand for the book she was holding.

“No,” she pulled it back. “I want money in exchange for this.”

“Are you negotiating?” Kol asked in disbelief.

“My dad wants to send me to the Mine, where crazy people are kept, dirty and filthy things. I need money to run from him.”

“I thought nothing scares you?” His hands still stretched out for the book.

“You’ll give me money,” her voice was firm.

The only person who had spoken like this to him was his mother and the way she commanded him reminded him of her and he was vexed.

“You don’t need money,” he managed to force a smile. “Because you’ll be dead.”

His eyes turned blood red and he revealed his fangs.

Trinity's eyes widened with a mix of disbelief and amazement.

“Kol no,” Albert came out of nowhere moving with speed humanly impossible, pushing Kol to the wall. “Don’t kill her.”

“You can’t stop me,” Kol flung him across the room and walked towards Trinity who still stood on the spot, not even a bit of fear.

“Stop!” Phillppa hurried out.

“Philippa if you dare to take even a step closer, I will kill you,” his deadly eyes were on Trinity as he spoke.

Trinity snapped at Phillppa who didn’t dare to step closer. She stared at her like the last piece of a puzzle.

“Wait,” she turned to the angry Kol who still wondered why she thought she could control him, but he did, he waited.

“Kol, Albert, Phillppa,” her eyes widened.

They all gave her the look she was used to. The look they give to people losing their minds.

“That’s why you want the Grimoire,” she lifted the book.

“What do you mean?” Albert rose from the floor where Kol tossed him.

“Alberta, Phillippa, and Kol,” she repeated.

“You'd better start spilling what you know,” Kol roared.

“Arthur, Grimsby, and Atlas,” she continued, her eyes settling on Kol. “You’re Elosie’s son, the one that should never have been birthed,” her words made all of them freeze, staring at her in terror.

Phillppa was the first to find her voice. “There’s no record of us, every magical documented history ended with Akira and Eloise, no one wrote about us, where the hell did you hear that!” Phillppa stared daggers at her.

“Here,” she lifted the Grimoire. “Those are the only words I understand, I read them over and over again” Trinity didn’t have the capacity to lie. “You all are vampires and werewolves. Hybrids,” she pointed, with a smug smile.

Albert snapped out and hurried towards her. “Let me see that,” he grabbed the book, flipping through the pages impatiently. “Where is it? This is empty.”

“What? They’re words written on every…..” Trinity's voice faded as she stared at the open pages of the Grimoire and truly it was empty.

Kol snatched it to see for himself. In frustration he threw the book to the wall, watching it fall to the ground.

“I get it now,” he panted slightly. “You knew I found Bathsheba, my magic, that’s why you crept out of your hole to stop me from getting it,” his eyes turned to Trinity holding too much rage there is to exist. “Mother,” he muttered those words with too much hatred.

Phillppa and Albert shared an equal amount of shock, watching Trinity who blinked repeatedly like she was waiting for the words to make sense.

“Eloise?” Phillppa whispered.

Phillippa’s gaze moved around the room, giving every one of them an equal gaze of irritation.

“I’m out of here,” she said as she headed for the door.

“Why? You’re not joining the party?” Kol teased and she tossed him a glare before walking past the door.

Philippa jumped into her car with the look of irritation still on her face. She didn’t actually lose Elosie’s Grimoire, she burned it to ashes, and that’s the thing with witches like Elosie, things about them can’t be destroyed, they can't die.

She wasn’t so surprised seeing the text that popped into her phone as she drove.

“Trinity has the Grimoire, get it before Kol does.”

“Trinity huh,” she scoffed, switching off her phone and tossing it aside.

She couldn’t believe this was happening, of all the years, this year of her normal life was the very year Kol chose to return from the dead.

This was a bit too much to take in.

She needed a moment to herself before running off to search for the Grimoire.

She pulled the car to a stop in her favorite spot, her haven. It was quiet and away from people. Far away that her vampire sense can’t smell or hear.

“What the hell,” she pulled a bottle of w**e from the car trunk.

Taking a long gulp she looked up to the sky. “Eloise wherever you are, I hope you’re aware that the evil you tried to chase away is back. There’s only a little we can do to stop him from getting his powers back, but there’s more you can do, I know it.”

She took a deep breath leaning against her car gulping down the drink although it burned her throat.

She paused when her ears picked up a sound. She grimaced and turned around.

“Whoever that is, do yourself and favor and go away,” she threatened, a smirk replacing the frown on her face when she saw someone standing in front of her with his eyes intensely on her.

The wind of the evening blew her hair into a mess as she continued drinking from the bottle, unfazed by the person’s presence.

“What do you want?” She asked, still drinking.

“Guess we would have to find out,” he launched towards her and Phillippa moved swiftly, dodging his attack.

“Vampire?” Her brows kissed each other.

Before she could think he came at her again and it took her just a few seconds to pull out his heart.

“No, no,” she let the heart slip to the ground. “Kol!!!!” She yelled so angrily, hurrying back into the car.

Bathsheba wasn’t interested in anything Kol had to say so she left after listening to a few words Evangeline said.

“How well do you know her?” Kol asked as Bathsheba whacked the door behind her.

“I’ve known her since we were kids, everyone in this town knows each other, or else you’re new here, like you guys,” Evangeline stated.

“Kol, we need to talk,” Albert interrupted, gesturing with his head before leaving the sitting room.

“He’s so serious? Do you like men like that?” He narrowed his eyes playfully at Evie before joining Albert.

“What?” He asked as he walked into Albert’s room, slamming the door shut. “Jealous of my little bonding moment with your lover? I heard she is spoken for, engaged?” He waved his fingers at Albert’s face. .

“What do you want from Trinity?” Albert ignored his meaningless talk.

“Ohhhh, that!” He stopped to think. “Why do you think I want anything from her?” He cocked his head to the side.

“Because I know you,” Albert claimed with a straight face.

“Well, I don’t think you do?” Kol's smile disappeared as he grabbed Albert’s neck violently, slamming his back to the wall, choking him.

“I was expecting that,” Albert didn’t even try to fight back.

“I’m yet to understand why you’ll keep something of such importance from me. I still doubt if you know me, because if you do you would know that crossing me isn’t an option,” his grip tightened around Albert’s neck. “Now I’m pi**ed and I think I’ll start by eating up your rescue case, I think she’s gonna be thirsty.”

“You won’t lay a finger on her,” Albert retaliated, slamming Kol against the wall, now choking him.

“Watch me,” Kol took the lead again, hitting Albert’s back against the wall again. “You could have thought about her before keeping secrets.”

“What’s going on here?” Evie stood before the door frame, frowning.

She heard the sound of them fighting and she had to run to see for herself.

“Nothing dear, we’re just having a little chat,” Kol let go of Albert, patting his shoulder as he whispered. “I just want to take what’s mine and leave, don’t make me create order plans.”

He sauntered past Evie, winking.

“Why are you guys fighting?” Evie was puzzled, they looked okay a few minutes ago.

She began to wonder if she had a reason to be bothered.

“Shut the door and come in,” Albert cooed and she obeyed.

“What?” Trinity’s eyes grew wider, staring at Bathsheba in disbelief.

“Yes, she’s staying with this creepy guy, there was another guy and a girl there, they all looked unfamiliar. I don’t think they’re from this town. You need to get your sister outta there,” Bathsheba was honestly concerned.

“Really?” Trinity panicked, knowing this was her fault. “Was she hurt, was she crying, did she look sad or…..

“No, she looked okay. Happy if I'm not mistaken. But why is she there? Why did she run away from home?”

“Bathsheba, I think you know the answer to that question,” Trinity rolled her eyes.

“I think Ace is a better option than those people.”

“What?” Trinity gasped. “How bad could they be, no one is more disgusting than Ace.”

“I can take you there if you want to, to see for yourself,” Bathsheba arranged the books into her locker.

“Yes, you would have to. I have to see my sister, I have to save her,” she spoke like she was some superhero

“Okay, let’s skip bio then, I hate that class.”

“No, no. My parents have eyes on me, they think I know where Evie is, if I leave school I would be followed,” Trinity said in one breath.

“Ohh,” Bathsheba looked around to ensure no one was watching. “So when?”

“Maybe tonight, after your shift at the bar?” Trinity raised a brow in question.

“Alright,” Bathsheba nodded.

“Thanks,” Trinity did a small dance before running off.

“So hilarious,” Bathsheba chuckled.

“Well hello dear,” someone whispered into her ears and she je**ed and turned around. “You guys!” She glared at Killian and Jesse.

“Hello sister,” Killian smiled. “I didn’t know you were friends with a Featherington,” he gestured at Trinity who was almost out of sight.

“Yeah, you hated them,” Jesse pointed out.

“That’s before I got to know Trinity, she’s different,” Bathsheba slammed her locker shut.

“She’s a clown,” Jesse sneered.

“Well, a nice one.”

“Mhmm, really. Can you tell her to put in some words for me with her sister Elsa?” Killian made a puppy face.

“No,” Bathsheba barked and took a few steps away from them.

“Oof, that didn't go as planned,” Jesse laughed, throwing his hand over Killian’s shoulder.

“Get away,” Killian pushed his hands off. “What’s this thing you always have on?” He pointed at his ring.

“I told you, it’s something passed down in my family,” Jesse tossed his response.

“The family you’re fighting with?”

“I’m not fighting, they’re dead,” he mouthed.

“That’s difficult to believe,” Killian didn’t hide his doubt.

“Why?”

“Because you say that with no atom of sadness, I don’t buy it. Maybe you just don’t like them,” Killian was certain.

“What, I’m supposed to be crying whenever I speak of them?” Jesse scoffed. “Whatever man, believe what you want.”

He ended the conversation like he always does.

Evangeline looked at Albert like he was speaking a foreign language.

“Albert I don’t get you, I can’t go home just yet, the wedding is yet to be called off,” Evie argued. “If I go home now, what is the point of running at first?”

“Well you can’t stay here anymore,” Albert made that as clear as crystal. “If you can’t return home then I’ll get you somewhere else to hide.”

“What? What of Trinity, Bathsheba will bring her here, and if I leave…..

“Don’t worry about that, I’ll bring your sister to you, but you’re leaving now,” his baritone was stern.

“Are you coming with me?” She asked uncomfortably.

“No, but I’ll make sure you’re safe till you wish to return home.”

Her eyes fell to the ground and she mouthed. “No!”

“No?” Albert lifted a questioning brow.

“I don’t want to be on my own.”

“Then get Trinity to come with you.”

“Trinity is seventeen. She has her life to live and school. I can’t ask her to hide with me for weeks,” she whined.

Albert stopped and arched his back to reach her height so he could stare down into her eyes. “What do you want?” He whispered, his breath fanning her face.

He was tempted to inform her about Kol’s amazing plan for her.

“I.:..” Evie lifted her head and her eyes locked with Albert’s who was still waiting for an answer. “I……..” she gave up and leaned forward claiming his lips in a slow passionate kiss.

Albert wasn’t expecting that. He wasn’t a fool, he had noticed the way she looked at him, but he didn’t want to lead her on. Although she was pretty, she was too innocent for his kind. And yet he didn’t move away, instead his hands moved on their own accord, pulling her closer to himself sucking her lips hungrily.

“Kol!!!”

Philippa’s loud voice interrupted them and Albert immediately moved away from her.

He stopped to listen to the conversation, he could hear them arguing but Evie couldn't.

“I’ll be back,” he whispered to Evie before walking out in a hurry.

“What’s going on?” Albert walked in to find Phillippa fuming and Kol on the bed, munching on an apple with no care in the world.

“There’s another vampire in town,” Phillppa said breathlessly.

“Well, I’m aware,” Kol moved his head playfully and they both snapped at him. “What? I told you I wasn’t the one behind the dead bodies.”

They didn’t stop glaring at him.

“What? I didn’t turn whoever that was, I didn’t!”

“Then who did, because I didn’t either Albert,” Phillippa seethed.

“It wasn’t me,” Kol sat up on the bed. “The earlier you start believing me the better for you guys.”

“So you’re saying aside from the three of us there’s another wandering vampire on earth?” Phillippa kept accusing him.

“Well there is, my father,” Kol smiled.

“Atlas, really?” Phillippa chided.

Albert had his hands akimbo trying to make sense of everything.

“Well I don’t know, I lost the ability to turn anyone with my blood after I turned you two. My mother didn’t want me making more of me so she did her witchy juju thing. If anyone dies with my blood in their system they die for real. I need my powers to undo the numerous curses that the wicked witch laid on me. It wasn’t me.”

Kol firmly stated his point.

“So who did it?” Albert scowled. “The Alpha would never do such a thing.”

“You think?” Kol scoffed.

“Yes, he’s not you! He has lived for two hundred years and he hasn’t turned anyone, why would he do that now,” Phillippa pointed.

“That leaves you guys with a bigger problem than,” Kol scoffed.

“Another Vampire, or maybe a hybrid,” Albert pondered.

“You guys continue your little mystery chat. I need to go spend some time with that little witch,” Kol jumped out of the bed and strolled past them.

“Kol whoever this person is isn’t to be taken lightly,” Phillippa began. “When I killed that guy, he said something about them being many, and he mentioned your name. I think they’re after you.”

“Well that’s very stupid of them, very unfortunate” He smirked leaving the room like nothing Phillippa said mattered.

“This is bad,” Philippa turned to Albert who agreed with her.

“I know,” he gulped. “But it’s also good,” he added, sharing a knowing glance with Phillippa.

Kol’s boot hit the ground with a soft thud as he strolled in the quiet night, letting his senses lead him to Bathsheba, whose scent he could smell from miles away. When his eyes caught her she was with someone and he could already guess who that was.

Before he could reach them a man in black suddenly showed up, standing before them.

Kol stopped walking, he just watched with a smirk.

“More vampires,” he said to himself.

Both girls halted looking at the stranger confusingly.

“Do you want anything, mister?” Trinity innocently asked, smiling at him.

“Let’s leave,” Bathsheba pulled her hand when the man just kept staring, he didn’t respond,

The man caught Bathsheba’s wrist before they could get away. Immediately he revealed his fangs about to sink them into her neck when Kold moved with the wind to get them; he grabbed the man’s neck nonchalantly.

“Wrong choice buddy,” he whispered and snapped his neck, leaving him to fall to the ground lifelessly.

“Hey,” he helped the frightened Bathsheba up the ground while Trinity helped herself jumping up to her feet.

“Did you just kill him?” Her eyes were on the dead man.

Kol’s eyes remained on for a while, saying nothing to her.

There was a big difference between the two girls, Bathsheba looked frightened and confused while Trinity on the other hand looked like she had just seen her favorite show.

“I guess so,” Kol gave the body a slight kick.

“Cool,” she clapped.

“What?” Bathsheba snapped at her, looking infuriated.

Even Kol wasn’t expecting that.

“With just one move he snapped his neck and he died, that was cool to me “ she made her point, still smiling.

“How can you be so giddy in a moment like this? That man just attacked us and he just killed him,” Bathsheba scolded.

“Yes. He was a vampire, I think he was the one who killed Terry when we…….

“Shut up Trinity,” Bathseba felt irritated by her lack of sense to read the room. “Everything isn’t a joke.”

Bathsheba's heart was pounding loudly and Kol could hear it. He was tempted to drink from her.

Kol just stood aside, watching the show, hands folded.

“I’m not joking, didn’t you see his fangs, and his eyes. He’s a vampire,” Trinity raised her pitch trying to explain to Bathsheba.

“You’re so….” Bathsheba lost her words. “Look, I’m taking you to Evangeline and after that never speak to me again,” Bathseba stormed ahead, her heart still palpating.

“What?” Trinity looked at Kol who was smiling at her. “What did I do?”

Kol just shrugged with no words.

Trinity's eyes fell back on the dead body. “Look, see. A human’s dead body won’t have this kind of veins, why doesn't anyone understand me,” she said in frustration.

“Trinity,” Kol called with an amused tone.

“Huh?” She lifted her head to look at him.

“Just how much do you know?” He took steps closer to her.

“About what? Vampires?” Her eyes beamed with happiness that someone was ready to listen to her.

“Yes, and the Grimoire, I hear you have it,” he cocked his head to the side to have a better look at her.

“Oh, Eloise’s Grimoire? You want to see it?” She gibbered, too happy to speak slowly.

Kol narrowed his eyes at the mention of his mother. “I guess you know too much for your own good,” he muttered to himself as she kept ranting about the thousands of spells in the Grimoire.

Trinity was glad that she found someone who was a believer like her, but unknown to her, she just found something more and her life was about to change.
