It is with great excitement we share that Mr. Emmanuel Tonbra of Etonbra Enterprises, one of our entrepreneurs at TIC Benin, has received a $3,000 grant from the Jerry Eze Foundation on 29th April 2026.

The support will go a long way in advancing his business, particularly in the purchase of raw materials, machinery, and the pursuit of NAFDAC certification.

This milestone reflects the continuous growth of our entrepreneurs and the opportunities that emerge when innovation is supported with the right structure.

We also appreciate the Director General/CEO, NBTI, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, and the entire NBTI family for creating an enabling environment that makes achievements like this possible.

*DIRECTOR NBTI SOUTH-SOUTH MAKES WORKING VISIT TO TIC WARRI, ASSESSES PROJECTS, STAFF WELFARE*

TIC WARRI – April 13, 2026

The National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), South-South Zone E, received a high-profile working visit from its Zonal Director, Mr. Diekedie David, on Monday, April 13, 2026. The one-day official visit to the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Warri was aimed at evaluating staff welfare, identifying challenges, inspecting ongoing capital projects, and engaging with entrepreneurs at the facility.

Upon arrival, the Centre Manager, Engr. Eghosa Osagie Uzunuigbe, welcomed the Zonal Director and introduced the purpose of the visit to staff. In his opening remarks, Engr. Uzunuigbe highlighted key areas of focus, including the status of 2024 capital project ex*****on and general staff wellbeing.

Responding, the Zonal Director applauded the visible positive developments recorded at the centre. He reiterated that his visit was not only to inspect projects but also to foster meaningful interaction with staff and entrepreneurs, listen to their concerns, and offer practical solutions. He charged the team to embrace hard work and innovative thinking, stating that "the future of NBTI lies in its staff."

*Key Directives and Discussions*

During the interactive session, the Zonal Director issued a directive that all staff must work towards the success of the 2026 NextGen Innovation Challenge. He also stressed the importance of capacity building, leadership, and mentorship, noting that every staff member is a potential leader capable of occupying any position in the system.

Staff raised several pressing issues, including:

· An appeal for an increased budget for ad-hoc staff (security and cleaners) to enable the centre hire a registered security company for improved efficiency.
· A request for consolation prizes for NextGen applicants who made it to London during the maiden edition in 2025, as well as linking them to foreign partner firms.
· The long-standing issue of 28 days in-lieu hotel accommodation arrears owed to staff across centres.

*Zonal Director’s Response*

On security and cleaning services, the Zonal Director explained that the matter is beyond the centre and zonal levels. He disclosed that the South-South Zone already has a contractor in place, but have been hampered by significant financial drawbacks.

On the NextGen competition, the Director revealed that the 2026 committee has held several meetings to address challenges from the previous year and expressed confidence that this year’s edition would be significantly improved. He further directed that all 2025 Delta State finalists who travelled to London be contacted and offered free admission forms for the incubation programme if interested. He also encouraged the Centre Manager to facilitate their enrollment as entrepreneurs, noting that the NBTI Admission Committee would likely grant them automatic admission.

Concerning the 28-day arrears, Mr. David commended Engr. Eghosa Uzunuigbe for complying with his earlier directive to ensure payment for staff across South-South centres. He advised that payments continue in batches strictly by order of occurrence, without skipping any beneficiary.

*Project Inspection and Entrepreneur Engagement*

The Zonal Director inspected the level of ex*****on of 2024 capital projects and expressed satisfaction with the progress. He later toured the entrepreneurs’ units, interacted with them, and offered solutions to their operational challenges.

*Appreciation and Recognition*

In his closing remarks, Engr. Eghosa thanked the ZD for the visit, and used the opportunity to congratulate Mr. David on his recent "Excellent Member Award" conferred by the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Yenagoa Branch.

Staff present described the visit as timely and impactful, praising the open-door approach that allowed for frank and productive discussions.
