The Holiness of a Believer in Christ

Today, let us reflect on the topic of holiness as it pertains to believers in Christ. The concept of holiness can be understood through the doctrine of sanctification; which is the process of being made holy by God. In 1 Cor. 6:11, the Apostle Paul addresses the Corinthian church, reminding them of their identity in Christ. He tells them, "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."

Paul's message to the Corinthians is clear. He highlights their transformed identity as believers; they have been washed, sanctified, and justified through the power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. In other words, they have been made holy, sanctified by Christ Himself.

In 1 Corinthians 1:2, Paul further emphasizes this truth. He addresses the church of God in Corinth, describing them as "those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours."

It is important to understand that holiness is not something believers strive to achieve on their own. God Himself has made us holy and sanctified us in Christ. At the moment of salvation, God imparts His Holy Spirit to dwell within us. Therefore, if you acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit within you, it means that you must also acknowledge your holiness, for wherever the Holy Spirit resides is holy.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in you is an evidence that you have been sanctified, set apart, and made holy by God. Holiness is first and foremost a nature before it becomes an action. You cannot live out holiness until you grasp the truth that God has already made you holy through your union with Christ.

Holiness is the inherent nature of a believer, not something that is attained through personal efforts or good works. It is a reality that is found in Christ. For example, when you encounter situations where human intervention falls short, such as sickness or mental affliction, it is said that the person has a "spirit of infirmity" or a "spirit of insanity." This demonstrates that a person reflects the spirit that is at work within them. As believers, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, enabling us to live a holy life.

Remember, you are not trying to be holy; God has already made you holy. Embrace the reality of your holiness in Christ. Allow the Holy Spirit to empower you to live out this divine nature that has been bestowed upon you. Let your thoughts, words, and actions align with the holiness that God has placed within you. Walk confidently in the truth that you have been sanctified, set apart, and made holy by the grace of God.

Understanding Holiness Part 1

The idea of holiness may seem old-fashioned to many of us. When we hear about holiness our minds often stroll to the errors we have made, making us reluctant to discuss it. We tend to prefer topics like faith, the movement of the Spirit, and prosperity. However, it is important to recognize that holiness is foundational to Christianity.

The doctrine of holiness is a widely taught principle in the body of Christ. The Scripture provides a comprehensive description and definition of holiness; enclosing concepts of purity, sanctification, consecration, and sacredness.

When we say that God is holy, we are affirming that God is pure and sanctified. In this devotional, we will explore how holiness relates to believers in Christ Jesus. But before we proceed, let's examine a few relevant scriptures together: Exodus 39:30 and Exodus 28:36.

Exodus 39:30:

"And they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold and wrote upon it a writing, like the engravings of a signet, 'HOLINESS TO THE LORD.'"

Exodus 28:36:

"And you shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engravings of a signet, 'HOLINESS TO THE LORD.'"

In these verses, holiness signifies something concentrated, sacred, and sanctified. Aaron, as a representative of the people, was consecrated and fully dedicated to the Lord.

Understanding holiness involves recognizing that we are called to be set apart for God's purposes. As believers, we are to pursue purity and sanctification in our lives, being dedicated to the Lord in all we do.

Let us reflect on the significance of holiness in our journey as followers of Christ. May we strive to be consecrated vessels, living out our faith in a way that honors and glorifies the Lord.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles, so that we could receive the promise of the Spirit by faith.

PRAYER POINT 3: FATHER in the name of JESUS, LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, rebuild YOUR church to become like lions in the midst of the WORLD, and no gate of hell should prevail against it, instead let YOUR CHURCH and believers and it's missionaries become power that's breaking and tearing down the plans, missions and works of darkness in this end time season.

Today's prayer will be based on sustainability help that keep man on top and enviable till real fulfilment of God promises will come.

PRAYER POINT 1: FATHER in the name of JESUS, thank you for you are the very present help in time of troubles.

PRAYER POINT 2: FATHER in the name of JESUS, I have no one to look up to for help, till you will fulfil all you have promised, therefore help me from your throne, least enemies ask me "where is your God".

PRAYER POINT 3: FATHER in the name of JESUS, on my way to the Canaan, let your sustainability help continue to sustain me. Same way it sustained Israelites for 40 years in the wilderness.

Cry to GOD our HELP, HE is a very present help in trouble. He is ever ready to help HIS children.
