WeCare LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

The Director-General of the Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy (BICTDE) participated in a Leadership Conference organized by WeCare Foundation, themed “Driving Youth Innovation and Alternative Solutions: Pathway to Nation Building.” The conference brought together stakeholders, young people, and leaders to explore innovative approaches to addressing societal challenges and creating sustainable pathways for national development. The Director-General served as a panelist during the conference, contributing valuable insights on the role of technology, innovation, digital skills, and youth empowerment in driving economic and social transformation. His participation further highlighted BICTDE’s commitment to supporting young people, strengthening the digital ecosystem, and creating opportunities for youth to develop innovative solutions to challenges affecting their communities and the nation at large.

SDCI Launch Event and Civic Dialogue

The Director-General, BICTDE, was represented bySiyi Umar Saleh at the inaugural Sustainable Development Conversations Initiative (SDCI) Launch Event and Civic Dialogue held on 15 August 2026 at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre, Bauchi. Siyi served as a panelist during the dialogue themed “The Missing Link: Connecting Citizens, Policy and Development,” contributing the Bureau’s institutional perspective on the role of technology, digital infrastructure, data, and citizen engagement in improving government services, transparency, and responsive development in Bauchi.

DG BICTDE Attends Startup Bauchi’s Enablers Network Dinner on Ecosystem Development

The Director-General of the Bureau for ICT and Digital Economy (BICTDE),Hayatudeen Babamaji, attended the Enablers Network Dinner organized by Startup Bauchi as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the technology and innovation ecosystem in Bauchi State. The dinner brought together key stakeholders, entrepreneurs, ecosystem enablers, and technology advocates to discuss strategies for ecosystem development, collaboration, innovation support, and sustainable growth of the digital economy. During the engagement, participants explored opportunities for partnerships, capacity building, startup support, and policies that can accelerate the growth of the state’s tech ecosystem. The DG reaffirmed BICTDE’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for innovation and collaboration, emphasizing the Bureau’s Ecosystem Development pillar and its dedication to working with stakeholders to position Bauchi State as a leading hub for technology, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.

From Bauchi State to the National Stage, these extraordinary girls—deaf students from a Special School—have shown the entire country that determination, resilience, and innovation have no barriers.

Against all odds, they competed with brilliant students from across Nigeria and emerged victorious, proving that disability is never inability.

Their innovative solution, “Hands That Speak,” captured hearts and minds, demonstrating how technology can bridge communication gaps and create meaningful impact in society.
