MAYOR BASSEY CELEBRATES GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI AT 61

The Executive Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, has extended warm felicitations to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, as he marks his 61st birthday.

In his goodwill message, Mayor Bassey commended the Governor’s proactivemess to rebuilding and repositioning Abia State. He noted that Governor Otti’s purposeful and visionary leadership continues to inspire confidence among the people and drive meaningful development across the state.

The Chairman prayed for God’s continued guidance, strength, and wisdom upon the Governor as he steers Abia toward greater progress. He wished him many more years of good health, divine favour, and impactful service to the people.

The Executive Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, yesterday received a high-powered delegation from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana Afikpo, Ebonyi State, during a courtesy visit to the council headquarters.

The visit was aimed at formally congratulating the Mayor on his successful emergence at the polls. Hon. Bassey, who served as a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at the institution for over a decade before his divine call to serve his people in late 2024, was described by his colleagues as a committed academic whose professionalism, leadership, and mentorship greatly impacted the department and the polytechnic at large.

The delegation conveyed a goodwill message by the Rector, who was unavoidably absent due to pressing official responsibilities and also, commended the Mayor’s performance in office. They also, extended their felicitations to His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, for his continued support to the local government system in Abia State. They noted that the visible development strides they're seeing in Bende LGA being executed by their colleague, aligns with the reform-driven agenda of the Abia State Government, which they described as commendable.

Responding, Hon. Bassey expressed profound appreciation to his former departmental colleagues, which he described as his academic home. He stated that the visit was both humbling and encouraging, reassuring his lifelong commitment to service, excellence, and people-centred leadership.

The delegation was led by Dr. U. S. Isienyi, the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Dr. A. O. D**e, former Dean of the School of Science, alongside other academic staff of the institution.

MAYOR BASSEY FELICITATES NDỊ BENDE ON THE NEW MONTH OF FEBRUARY!

The Executive Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, has extended warm wishes to the good people of Bende LGA as they step into the new month of February.

In a statement released earlier today, the Mayor admonished ndị Bende to continue to uphold good conduct, remain law-abiding, and sustain their support for the administration of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti. He noted that peace, unity, and collective responsibility remain key to the continued growth and development of the local government area.

Hon. Bassey wished the people a happy and fruitful new month, while praying that God Almighty continues to bless, protect, and prosper every household across Bende LGA.

PUBLIC SERVICE ATTENTION!

The Executive Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, has raised concern over reports that some individuals, allegedly acting in the name of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are demanding voters’ card details and National Identification Numbers (NIN) from all the wards in Bende under the guise of party e-registration. According to the information received, such activities may be carried out during so-called town hall meetings where sensitive personal details are either copied or photographed.

The Executive Chairman wishes to make it clear that no individual or group has the right to collect or demand INEC Voter’s Cards or NIN details from citizens in this manner. Such actions are illegal, unsafe, and contrary to established democratic processes, as well as existing data protection and electoral guidelines.

Mayor Bassey therefore strongly advises Ndi Bende and the general public to be vigilant, avoid such gatherings, and refuse to share their personal information with unauthorized persons. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies, as the local government remains committed to protecting the rights, safety, and democratic freedom of all citizens.

Earlier today at the council headquarters, the Executive Chairman of Bende LGA, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, received some of the newly passed out military personnel from Bende local government area.

The courtesy visit was to say thank you to the Mayor who at some point, sponsored and facilitated their program.

Congratulations to the gallant soldiers.

MAYOR BASSEY INAUGURATES BENDE JOINT AGRICULTURAL INTERVENTION COMMITTEE!

The Executive Chairman of Bende LGA, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkonye Bassey, has formally inaugurated the Bende Joint Agricultural Intervention Committee (JAIC). The event, held at the Bende council headquarters yesterday aims at strengthening the council’s commitment to agricultural development and food security.

The committee, chaired by the Mayor, brings together key stakeholders including the Head of Service, Treasurer, HOD Agriculture, HOD Works, HOD BPRS, Supervisor for Agriculture, and the Bende Farm Manager. Their collective expertise is expected to drive coordination, accountability, and efficiency across all agricultural programmes within the local government.

According to the Mayor, the committee’s primary mandate is to supervise and ensure the successful ex*****on of the agricultural visions of Governor Alex Otti and the local government. This includes overseeing intervention programmes, improving productivity, and delivering measurable results that will benefit farmers and rural communities across Bende.

Mayor Bassey congratulated the members and charged them to approach their responsibilities with diligence, transparency, and a shared passion for transforming the agricultural landscape in Bende.
