BONNY LG CHAIRMAN APPROVES ₦200 MILLION YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SCHEME FOR 400 YOUNG PEOPLE

…As Bonny Youths Federation Presents Him with Award of Quality Leadership for Exceptional Performance

In a further demonstration of his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and human capital development, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, JP, has approved a ₦200 million Youth Empowerment Scheme for 400 young people across the Local Government.

Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive ₦500,000 to support their economic aspirations and enhance their capacity for self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

The Chairman announced the empowerment initiative today during the Extraordinary Congress of the Bonny Youth Federation (BYF), held at the BYF Secretariat along Asimini Bypass Road, Bonny.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Pepple stated that his administration, as a responsible and people-oriented government, recognises the critical importance of investing in people and contributing meaningfully to the development and progress of Bonny Local Government Area.

He explained that the ₦200 million Youth Empowerment Scheme forms part of his administration’s broader commitment to youth development, human capital advancement, economic empowerment and the creation of opportunities that will enable young people to pursue their aspirations and build a better future.

According to the Chairman, empowering young people remains central to building a productive, prosperous and sustainable society.

In further demonstration of his continued support for the youths of Bonny Kingdom, Chairman Pepple also pledged to provide a Hiace bus to the Bonny Youth Federation, the apex youth body in the Kingdom, to enhance its mobility and facilitate the effective coordination of its activities.

Speaking earlier, the Leader of the Bonny Youth Federation, Mr. Anthony Banigo, commended Chairman Pepple for what he described as his deliberate commitment and sustained efforts towards youth development and the advancement of human capital across the Local Government Area.

A major highlight of the Extraordinary Congress was the presentation of an Award of Quality Leadership to Chairman Pepple in recognition of what the Bonny youths described as his exceptional leadership and performance in office.

The Chairman was also presented with a Special Award of Recognition in appreciation of his support for the preservation of Bonny culture and his contributions towards the promotion of tourism within the Local Government Area.

While commending the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, for the remodelling and commissioning of the Bonny National Grammar School, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS has assured the continued protection and proper maintenance of the newly remodeled facility.

The Council Chairman informed the Governor that the Bonny Local Government Council will immediately employ and engage security personnel to man the school, thereby safeguarding the investment and ensuring a secure learning environment for students and staff.

BONNY LG CHAIRMAN ASSURES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SECURITY OF BNGS FACILITY

…As Governor Fubara Commissions the Remodeled Bonny National Grammar School

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, JP, has commended the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, GSSRS, for the remodelling and commissioning of the Bonny National Grammar School.

Speaking during his welcome address at the commissioning ceremony held earlier today, Chairman Pepple noted that the project was appropriated for during his time as a Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly by the administration of the former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, GSSRS.

Chairman Pepple stated that the completion, remodelling, and commissioning of the school by the Governor underscores the importance of continuity and consolidation in governance.

“What is happening today is a clear demonstration of your passion and commitment to consolidation and continuity,” the Chairman added.

The Chairman assured the Governor that this legacy bequeathed to the Ibani people will never go unnoticed, as the people of Bonny are extremely happy with what he has shown and demonstrated.

To ensure the continued protection and proper maintenance of the newly remodeled facility, Chairman Pepple informed the Governor that the Bonny Local Government Council will immediately employ and engage security personnel to man the school, thereby safeguarding the investment and ensuring a secure learning environment for students and staff.

The project was inaugurated by His Majesty King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Edward I, CON, DSSRS, JP, Perekule XI, Amayanabo, and Natural Ruler of the Ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the award of a full scholarship by the Governor to members of Team Rivers who emerged as winners at the Presidential Inter-Schools Debate Championship.

The Bonny Local Government Council hereby informs all residents and business owners in Bonny Local Government Area that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, has been cancelled.

The Council urges all residents to continue to observe and maintain good environmental cleaning habits, including proper waste disposal and regular cleaning of their surroundings and drainages, in the interest of a clean, healthy, and safe Bonny Local Government Area.

In recognition of loyalty, commitment, and dedicated service, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, JP, has presented a car gift to the Chief Press Secretary Bonny LGA, Amb. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo.

BONNY LG CHAIRMAN ATTENDS BONNY LAWYERS’ FORUM HERITAGE NIGHT, PLEDGES CONTINUED SUPPORT

The Chairman of Bonny Local Government, Amasenibo Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, DSSRS, JP, attended the Bonny Lawyers’ Forum: Heritage Night – Inaugural Awards, 2026, an event held to celebrate excellence, recognise outstanding contributions, and promote unity among legal practitioners and the wider Bonny community.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman commended the leadership and members of the Bonny Lawyers’ Forum for organising such a remarkable and significant gathering. He noted that the event reflects the importance of recognising excellence and strengthening professional institutions within the community.

The Chairman reaffirmed that his administration remains open and committed to supporting the Bonny Lawyers’ Forum in all ramifications, stressing that the Local Government will continue to encourage initiatives that contribute to the development and progress of Bonny.

He further expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with the Bonny Lawyers’ Forum in efforts towards establishing a Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Bonny Branch, noting that such an institution would further strengthen the legal profession and provide greater value to the community.

In his remarks, the Leader of the Bonny Lawyers’ Forum expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman for his tremendous support and encouragement. He stated that the Chairman’s support has played a significant role in making the gathering possible, adding that the Forum is grateful for his commitment to the growth and development of the legal community in Bonny.

The Heritage Night featured moments of celebration, recognition and fellowship, bringing together legal practitioners, government representatives, community leaders and distinguished guests in an atmosphere of unity and shared heritage.
