PRESS STATEMENT ,
BORI STATE: THE ONLY CONDITION FOR OIL RESUMPTION IN OGONI AND THE PATHWAY TO DEVELOPMENT FOR RIVERS SOUTH EAST

As we continue to engage relevant agencies and the Federal Government of Nigeria on the Ogoni question, I was recently handed a copy of the official summary document on Bori State Creation.

A copy of this document was previously submitted to Former President Barack Obama of the United States of America and Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of Nigeria.

HISTORICAL FOUNDATION
The call for Bori State is not new. It is rooted in documented history and official government recognition.

1. 1958 - Sir Henry Willink Minorities Commission:
In his report to the British Government ahead of Nigeria’s independence in 1960, Sir Henry Willink stated that the only thing that would justify infrastructural development in Rivers South East was State Creation .
He specifically identified the Ogoni area and other parts of the Niger Delta as regions in urgent need of development and political autonomy.

2. Technical Committee on the Niger Delta Report also reaffirmed this position, noting the developmental deficits in the same areas.

This confirms that the agitation for Bori State has both constitutional and historical backing.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE PROPOSED BORI STATE
According to the summary document in our possession, the proposed Bori State will comprise Seven (7) Local Government Areas, with Bori Town as the State Capital.

The LGAs are:
1. Oyigbo LGA
2. Eleme LGA
3. Tai LGA
4. Gokana LGA
5. Khana LGA
6. Andoni LGA
7. Opobo/Nkoro LGA

The document further provides projections showing how each LGA can be subdivided to enhance administration and grassroots development, including Eleme, Andoni, Oyigbo, Khana, and Gokana.

It also projects Bori State to become the Industrial and one of the richest States in Nigeria and Africa
, given its strategic location, human capital, and vast natural resources.

OUR POSITION
Let it be clearly understood: Bori State Creation was already documented and acknowledged by the Nigerian Government as a viable solution to long-standing issues in the region.

For those who argue constitutional rights:
The President himself has acknowledged the possibility of creating Bori State as a means of solving a long-standing problem that will guarantee peace, justice, and sustainable development in Nigeria.

The areas constituting the proposed Bori State are the same areas identified in 1958 by the Willink Commission as severely lacking in infrastructural development. 67 years later, that deficit remains.

Therefore, we state unequivocally: Bori State is the only condition for oil resumption in Ogoni.
Without addressing the political and developmental question of statehood, any other engagement will lack legitimacy and will not serve the people.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We take this moment to honor and remember our late hero, Senator (GBENE) Cyrus N. Nunieh, who worked tirelessly to follow up all due processes for Bori State Creation.
May his soul rest in peace. He will be remembered in the Ogoni Heroes Hall of Fame.

OUR COMMITMENT
The Ogoni Liberation Initiative stands firmly behind the vision and campaign for Bori State Creation.
We are also committed to providing financial support when the need arises to advance this cause.

As we continue these engagements, we shall also be releasing further evidence and documents to help resolve other major issues, including Ogoni compensation and the environmental clean-up.

Bori State is not just an aspiration. Bori State is possible. Bori State is necessary.

Signed,
Dr Fabeke Douglas

PUBLIC STATEMENT/CALL FOR CLARITY
RE: MOSOP FACTION STATEMENT ON SHELL/RENAISSANCE RETURN TO OGONI

This morning, I read a full statement from a faction of MOSOP, posted by our respected elder statesman, Professor Olu Andah Wai-Ogosu , asking and recommending that Shell — now Renaissance be allowed to return to Ogoni.

Prof. Wai-Ogosu is a man I hold in very high regard. Ordinarily, I would not have responded to this. His actions have betrayed the true spirit of Mosop and the Ogoni struggle.Take note,The Ogoni/ the committee must explore every means to strike a deal with the Federal Government of Nigeria on State Creation. We are not at the begging side, this is our demand. Your call for the return of Shell has violated the right of the Ogoni people, and also affected our consciousness.

However, a few months ago I stumbled on some vital evidence and information which I did not attach much weight to at the time. After seeing this recent statement, I am now compelled to ask critical questions in the interest of our people.

Let it be clear: it is not a crime for anyone to invite companies for business presentations. But at this stage, we are aware that there are certain things happening behind the scenes that the public deserves to know.

What I have not seen, however, is a strong and consistent voice from your leadership defending the injustice against the Eleme people .
Examples include:
1. The collapsed water scheme at Ebubu Eleme.
2. The ongoing insecurity incidents in Eleme
3. Reports of oil resumption and exploration activities in Eleme which, from available information, appear to be anti-people in nature and without proper community engagement

At this point, I respectfully ask:
Sir, what exactly is happening in Eleme?
There is no need for pretense at this time. Our people deserve full disclosure and transparency.

A time will come when the eyes of all Ogoni will be open to see clearly where the challenges to our struggle are coming from.

We must put the interest of Ogoni people, our environment, and our future above all personal or political considerations. We shall release a full agenda behind this action later.

Signed,
Dr Fabeke Douglas

PUBLIC DISCLAIMER & WARNING

My attention has been drawn to the unauthorized circulation of my pictures on various social media platforms for the purpose of false endorsement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

I wish to state categorically that this act constitutes blackmail and a cheap political gimmick.

For the avoidance of doubt:
If and when I decide to endorse any candidate or political party, I will do so publicly, personally, and through my official channels. I have not authorized, nor do I support, any individual or group using my image for political endorsement.

Such political tricks are reckless, dangerous, and unacceptable.

I will not be associated with any form of manipulation or misrepresentation.

In view of this, I will be holding an interactive press briefing with all media houses in the city to address this matter and other issues of public concern. The date and venue will be announced shortly.

I urge the public, media organizations, and political actors to disregard any post, flyer, or video using my image for endorsement without my express consent.

Signed,
Dr Fabeke Douglas

*PUBLIC RESPONSE TO MISINFORMATION AND DEFAMATORY POSTS.*

Yesterday, I addressed a simple letter to The Chairman, Ogoni Dialogue Committee (ODC) , in the same manner I have engaged other leaders. The letter has since attracted positive responses from well-meaning people and other stakeholders. We have communicated, shared verified information, and discussed the way forward.

I have also taken note of several other reactions online. I will not dignify those with a response in order to avoid unnecessary distraction from the main issues affecting our people. However, I am compelled to respond to two specific public posts in which my picture was used:

1. Allegation by Mr. Giobari Kpai (Gio Bari)
Mr. Giobari Kpai made a public allegation that I collected money from the youth, men and women of K-Dere community, to bring investment to their Community .

This allegation is false and malicious .
I hereby demand that Mr. Giobari Kpai return to K-Dere Community within 48 hours from the time of this publication to properly verify this information. Thereafter, he is expected to issue a public apology within the same 48 hours.
I have personally contacted several people from K-Dere to confirm if anyone acted on my behalf in this regard. The answer is NO.

2. Statement by Mr. Zorbari Adi
Mr. Zorbari Adi also made a public post with my picture from the same K-Dere Community , stating that, “I will not be alive to see oil resumption in Ogoni.” I will be reaching out to Mr. Zorbari Adi directly seeks clarification on the meaning and intent of that statement.

Let it be known that I remain committed to truth, accountability, and the peaceful development of Ogoni. I will not be distracted by falsehood, but I will also not allow my name and integrity to be dragged in the public space without a response.

Signed,
*Dr. Fabeke Douglas,*

OGONI WATER PROJECTS: A PATTERN OF FAILURE AND WASTE MUST END.

While the Honourable Minister of Environment prepares to visit Ogoni again to commission yet another borehole project running into billions of Naira, at the invitation of his partners, we are compelled to remind him of abandoned promises and his pass failures.

Five days after commissioning, the Ebubu Eleme and Gwara water projects collapsed and have remained unfixed till date.

For clarity:
Gwara Water Project: ₦1,799,151,565
Contractor: Surez Global Resources Limited
Ebubu Eleme Water Project: ₦1,074,669,221
Contractor: Duliz Dredging and Construction Ltd

The combined cost of the two failed boreholes is ₦2,873,820,786.

In the coming days, we shall release further details on these companies, how the contracts were awarded, and how the funds were disbursed.

In any environment where public accountability and the rights of citizens are respected, both the Honourable Minister and the Project Coordinator would have resigned by now over this monumental failure.

To plan another visit to Ogoni to commission another borehole, while previous multi-billion Naira projects lie in ruins, shows that looting has become the culture.

There is no problem. My team and I will be on ground to receive the Honourable Minister and to ask him to account for his “good works” in Ogoni land.

The people of Ogoni deserve clean, functional water, not billboards of abandoned projects. We have numerous abandoned water project across Ogoni communities fully paid for,but contractors didn't receive the full payment.
The day of accountability is drawing closer.

Dr Fabeke Douglas
